Chapter 2247: Reactions I
Chapter 2247: Reactions I
Vera frowned, and sat forward, ignoring her mother and the other oracles all around them. They were having a small get together among friends, which was something they did every few weeks. It wasn’t out of the ordinary - after all, since they basically lived inside the Inn now, they needed to develop social networks if only for their mental sanity.
However, at that moment, Vera could not be bothered about the meeting and quickly got up and left, not bothering to respond to any of the questions directed towards her. In truth, she didn’t even hear them because she was entirely focused on repeatedly viewing her future.
She wasn’t quite sure what happened, but all of a sudden, Lex disappeared from her future. She couldn’t see him anymore regardless of the circumstance, and that basically meant that many of her personal plans were compromised.
The future she saw was still very decent, but she ultimately would have to follow her fathers orders to protect herself, coming more and more within his control.
"How is this possible? How is this possible?" she muttered to herself, in complete disbelief that anything could happen to Lex. She knew better than anyone just how difficult it should have been to harm him because she had seen her future - and him in it. The stations he reached should have been unimaginable. So how could he suddenly disappear?
She tried again and again and again, but no matter what she did, she saw no signs of Lex again in her future.
Within the Dream realm, Liz lay on the ground breathing heavily as she recovered from her exhaustion in the safehouse. For a period of time, the safehouse would not move nor would anyone inside it be teleported away, so she and her teammates took this opportunity to recover, for the situation within the Dream realm was much too perilous.
"I’ve heard news of the Path of Chaos," said one of her partners suddenly, informing the whole room. "One of their top agents below the Dao Lord has appeared in the Dream realm. He’s third on the universal Dao Prevention list, so his appearance has caused quite a stir."
Liz closed her eyes and didn’t focus too much on their conversation. Unlike them, she was quite weak so what was normal for them was beyond overexertion for her since she was avoiding fusing with Nemo. What did she care about someone on the Dao prevention list?
"Third on the list? You mean Daekol the Sage killer?" someone asked, amazed.
That question caused quite a stir, for even those who had not heard of him were alarmed by such a title.
"Yeah, that’s him. It’s said when he appeared, he was fighting some human affiliated with the organization known as the Midnight Inn. I think his name was Lux or Locks or something like that."
Liz suddenly opened her eyes, shocked, as she turned to look at the speaker.
"He disappeared as soon as he appeared. Too bad for the human - I heard he had quite the reputation. His bad luck for crossing paths with the Sage killer I suppose."
Levi’s body trembled, but she didn’t ask any questions - she couldn’t afford to attract any attention towards herself. Yet internally, she couldn’t believe something bad might happen to Lex.
"Nemo, you think Lex is fine?" she asked quietly. For once, the chatty fish did not respond.
Within the Midnight Inn, inside the Dreamy Mirror, Moon suddenly felt cold, and frail. That was not a sensation she had felt since Lex had rescued her.
She quietly walked up to her hammock and laid down, wrapping a thin shawl around herself as she hugged herself. For the first time since she had been rescued, Moon once again felt all alone.
Fenrir, had inadvertently found himself inside an inescapable maze, suddenly felt his connection to Lex go dormant. Such a thing had happened on occasion, when Lex entered some supremely secure locations, but this time that dormancy was accompanied by a feeling of agitation and concern.
But Fenrir could do nothing about it at this moment, for Fenrir too was caught in a trap of Daekol’s design. Keeping him company within that trap was that most hated wolf who had tortured Fenrir and had kept his sister. Oddly enough, though, the two of them had not yet crossed paths!
Somewhere out in the universe, Nuwa looked upon the Dream realm impassively. She could protect Lex from Dao Lords, but she could not babysit him forever. Whether he lived or died, this time she would not interfere.
Especially since everything that was happening was inside the Dream realm. Nuwa was almost certain that the Dream realm was a trap prepared by someone - now the only question was, who was it prepared by, and for whom? She did not want to find out by interfering.
Within the Primordial Garden, sitting on her throne, Eclipse saw even more than Nuwa herself! The Masterless technique should have hid Lex completely, but because he was merely at the Heaven Immortal realm, his mastery of the technique did not allow him to hide from a Dao Lord who was specifically looking for him.
In this case, Eclipse was not necessarily looking for him specifically. Her powers were sealed, after all, so she could not even see that far. No, what she was were the fluctuations and ripples in karma, and through them it was as if everything that was happening to Lex was happening right before her.
She always knew that this heir of the Innkeeper was interesting, but she never would have guessed that he was also conniving like that. It almost reminded her of her younger days.
Nulli, who was right beside her, suddenly frowned. She sensed that someone was doing something with Time, but the actions were hidden from her sight.
Within the Origin realm, Giselle was fighting against the patriarch of a demon sect when she suddenly sensed an unusual fluctuation from the grain of sand she had found in the Temple of Frozen Dawn.
