Chapter 2366: Why is Lex still causing problems? II
Unlike the destruction of the previous four Major realms, everyone knew who was responsible this time around. Moreover, it wasn’t a sudden, irresistible destruction. Instead, there was a barricade around the realm to prevent anyone from leaving, effectively trapping them inside and forcing them to face their deaths.
By the time the news had spread, all mortals across the Julias Major realm were already dead, their souls harvested and refined. But... no one complained. Or rather, no one dared to complain.
What Elizabeth had used was one of the Primal race’s most fearsome weapons, but it was hardly the only one. Not to mention, which race had the power to face them off? Even if such races existed, they would not face off the Primal race for the Julias realm.
The destruction of a Major realm. It could not be understated just how despicable and diabolical such a thing was, not to mention difficult. Theoretically speaking, killing a Dao Lord was far simpler and easier than doing that. For example, Wu Kong might be able to kill certain Dao Lords easily, but he certainly couldn’t destroy a Major realm on his own.
Major realms were fought over for hundreds of thousands of years because of their endless resources and ability to sustain so much life. The rise and fall of Major realms literally affected the whole universe!
The fewer the Major realms, the more those lower down on the Cosmic Ascendance Spectrum would suffer. After all, the Sage and Elder races were more than strong enough to maintain or even conquer new realms if they needed to. Only those lower down were losing territory and resources.
Although it was not complete just yet, five Major realms had fallen in a short time. Devastation of such levels had not been wrought since the end of the Primordial Age.
A profound sorrow spread across the universe, and this time it wasn’t because of the fall of a Major realm. After all, that wasn’t technically complete. The sorrow was the natural emotions shared by countless living beings upon such incalculable loss. It was not just the loss of 5 Major realms that caused such emotions, but the faint inkling that this was only just the beginning.
Many began to suspect that the destruction of these Major realms was not a blind act, but the strategic pruning of the universe. Unfortunately, most of them were on the end being pruned, making them feel helpless.
Nuwa sighed. She understood better than most what was in store for the future.
"Call the Celestials. Tell them..." Nuwa paused, and looked up at the sky. Her actual location was a mystery, but regardless of whether there was a sky above her or not, what mattered was the direction she was looking towards. She was looking above... because that’s where tribulation clouds appeared.
It wasn’t that there were tribulation clouds appearing above her specifically. Instead, there were tribulation clouds appearing across all realms in the universe, vibrating with a powerful, vengeful energy.
Within the thick, black clouds, blue lightning flashed, and then turned into Farham. One, one hundred, one hundred million... all across the universe, Farham appeared in the shape of lightning tribulations, not as Tribulation Fiends.
They roared in unison, though their roar sounded like triumph, while the flap of thunder that followed was filled with such wrath that even Elizabeth was taken by surprise. Yet, for all its anger and frustration, the universe had no target upon whom to vent.
The Farham roared in unison, forming a chant almost, before their bodies disappeared with the dissolving tribulation. Yet this was not the end of the phenomenon - far from it. The clouds fused together to form what appeared like a pedestal, upon which lay what looked like scrap paper. In front of the pedestal appeared the figure of a human.
The human’s expressions and identity could not be determined, but it was clear that the universe was furious with the human! It was warning him! Unfortunately, all could hear the warning except the very person being warned!
Nuwa’s expression fell. There was no indication or sign of the human’s identity, but she did not need any hints to know who was behind this. After all, a mother’s instinct was never wrong.
"Why the hell is Lex still causing problems?" she asked herself as she looked at the figure in the clouds.
The human, after sitting in a meditative pose for so long, finally reacted. Many were curious to see what his intentions were. Even more tried to divine what was actually happening and what its significance was, for even the destruction of realms had not caused such a massive phenomenon.
None, however, were ready for what they were about to see. The human looked at the piece of scrap and... picked it up and tossed it in his mouth.
He ate it! The forbidden... fruit? Chip? Wafer? Whatever it was, it was clearly forbidden, and yet he ate it so casually!
Even though the Farham were gone, one last roar of unrestrained joy rang out across the universe. Unfortunately, it was drowned by the clap of thunder as the universe expressed its anger... and then gave up. It could not target the culprit, and so his vision faded, leaving everyone to wonder what would happen to him.
"That boy needs a wife to settle him down," Nuwa said in an exhausted tone. She suddenly felt like just revealing her location and fighting it out with her enemies would be less stressful than dealing with Lex.
"Take my advice, don’t have kids," said Nuwa to one of her subordinates who froze up.
"Um, my lady Nuwa, I gave birth last month..." the subordinate said, unsure of what she was supposed to do.
"Oh, really? Congratulations. It’s a wonderful experience. I’m sure you’ll love it," Nuwa responded, sounding genuinely sincere. Yet the more sincere she sounded, the more it felt like sarcasm.
Lex, entirely unaware that his actions had been witnessed by the entire universe, closed his eyes and resisted the urge to burp. He needed to refine the item, not let a single speck of its potential to go to waste.
