Chapter 2456: Prelude

Lex ended up spending more time in the Conquest realm than he originally wanted to, but it couldn’t be helped. While he could sacrifice the material wealth of the realm, the way in which the laws of the realm were set up was too useful and unique. Lex might never encounter another Immature realm with a similar law template again, he so absolutely had to harvest it.

But what did it even mean to harvest laws? It wasn’t like they were something physical that he could pick and put in his Sovereign realm. That is why he looked for the core of the realm - that really was something he could pick up and shift. However, it would never connect to the new realm. As soon as the Conquest realm was destroved, the core would be too.

He just did his best, using whatever little knowledge he had of realmscaping and realm processing for the Midnight realm, and implemented it. Of course, since the laws themselves were connected to the environment and things within the realm itself, Lex took special care to absorb them as well.

Whatever he could absorb himself, he did. But the realm was massive, and even at his greatest speed, he ended up using a lot of time. For the things he couldn’t absorb, or couldn’t be bothered to absorb since it would waste too much time, he grabbed them with his spirit sense and bundled them together. Thus, an odd sight of Lex floating around a collapsing realm, followed by a collection of random mountains, forests, lakes, mines and more could be seen. To those of the Conquest realm who survived long enough to witness such a thing, the scene was enough to frighten them to death.

When he returned to the Midnight Inn, Lex brought all those things with him, and just dropped them in the Chaos Sea. Whether they would survive, or be devoured by the sea didn’t matter to him. What was more important to him were the hints of certain valuable laws still attached to them, or the energy contained within them. For now he was not an expert on influencing the changes in a realm, so he would just settle for such a brutish way of doing things. Velma had already prepared a teleportation path for him to the next designated realm from the list he’d given her. The list was compiled by Lex by tracing all those responsible in Z’s kidnapping. While it was surely not all those involved, it was a start.

"Is there anything I need to prepare here inside the Inn?" Velma asked, still unsure of what trouble Lex was expecting.

"Just find out where Z is as quick as possible, It would be for the best if we can rescue him before long," said Lex, not elaborating, With each passing second, his instincts also began to sense a growing danger.

If he, a Celestial Immortal could sense it, then the Dao Lords surely could as well.

Something big was about to happen.

He wasted no time, teleporting to each subsequent realm and eliminating all those responsible. He didn`t destroy the other realms for they weren’t nearly as corrupted or filled with sinners as the Conquest realm, but he did not spare a single person who played a role in Z’s kidnapping. His actions were a loud and resounding answer to the universe about the consequences of messing with the Inn. Unfortunately, no one was paying attention to him at the moment, not even the Humanoid Alliance.

The changes in Arch-Heaven were attracting a lot of attention, but much more important was a piece of news that had been published recently. In the last one century, about 50% of all Dao Lords in the universe had disappeared. They had either been killed, or taken to a place where they could no longer be sensed.

The sheer number of disappearances was extreme. A major organisation - one that used to operate on a universal scale - collapsed. With the downfall of one, others soon followed. By now, the greed incited by the Dream Platform was finally beginning to subdue. Too many Dao Lords realised that their emotions were unusual, but it was too late.

Even if they managed to escape off the edge of the platform which was easier said than done, escaping the Dream realm itself would be too hard

The Elder races and Sage races got embroiled in war finally, mainly because of a new alliance which had popped up which blamed all the universal chaos on the Sage races. It claimed they were the ones fanning the flames in secrets so that they could monopolise the universe in secret. Even if the conspiracy wasn’t true, and they weren’t responsible for everything, it was true that soon they would be the only ones left with any real power. The whole universe was theirs for the taking, for too many other organisations capable of resisting them had been crippled. Within the Folklore realm, Jack opened his eyes from his recent meditation session, it was done. His formation was ready. He could find the Nexus as soon as the event occurred. It was too dangerous to go out and do anything else, so he gave up on all his plans and decided to stay put and wait for the Nexus event.

He was blissfully unaware that his crew had started a revolution for the fairies, attacking all those who enslaved fairies and began to create a holy land for them where the fairies would be protected from the curse that affected their race.

How they managed to create a place which could save fairies from their curse was also quite a tale. They found a minor realm inside a massive boot, claimed that the boot kicked out all curses, and enough people believed it so that when the fairies entered they found that they actually felt freed.

Of course, that was not nearly enough to turn the tide on the fate of fairies, but it was a start. Somewhere in the Geb realm, Hemzy opened her eyes and looked out in disbelief. Did she finally manage to escape the Hollow? Before she could celebrate, a sword cut through her body.

Belle had no idea whether Hemzy was an enemy or not, but the weird look in her eyes was enough to spook her, and that was reason enough to act cautiously.

She looked around her surroundings, sword still in hand, and then quickly flew away. She needed to find a way back to Eden. Even if that place was in chaos, she would not abandon it. She would save it - she had to.
