Chapter 2479: Forbidden History II
Chapter 2479: Forbidden History II
Owing to their very limited time of five to ten centuries to complete their task, Hiran did not wait for questions nor did he spend any time explaining things in further detail. There would be plenty of time to do that while they were on mission, not to mention his knowledge about these things wasn’t much more detailed than what he was telling them.
"You can probably imagine what happened when Vaelûn, which was still building its framework, began devouring the remains of a much more mature universe. Vaelûn underwent drastic changes, and many of the laws that Vaelûn was originally developing crashed or ruptured. Entirely new laws took their place, and the framework of the entire universe changed.
"It was... a catastrophic time. A lot of things that should have been... were destroyed, and things that were never meant to be came into existence. The Void that separates realms, for example, was something that came into being after that period. While I do not know the exact details, I have heard that prior to that, all realms were connected to one another in a fixed and systematic way."
Hiran paused because at this point, he had to be very careful with what he said. In truth, everything he told them was considered a secret, forbidden by the universe itself. These things that happened in the Primordial age were meant to be forgotten and never shared.
It was only because the universe was in a special phase, and because his mansion had the appropriate protection that he was able to mention these things. That didn’t mean they needed to know everything - only what was pertinent to their mission.
"The other details are irrelevant to us. What is important, however, is the Glaticus Necropolis. Unlike our universe, Pentagal had an established and working reincarnation system. I don’t mean like the kind we have in our universe, where a powerful cultivator enters a newborn body, or perhaps strips their soul of unnecessary mass to be reborn.
"No, their universe processed souls and then sent them to be reborn after cleansing their memories and karma. Based on the information we have collected, this process was mostly automated by the universe itself, but there were a number of powers in Pentagal that revolve around the concept of reincarnation.
"The Glaticus Necropolis was an artifact created by one such power. We have very strong reason to believe that the Origin realm is not a normal realm, because it is a realm born from the remnants of Pentagal that Vaelûn chose not to, or was unable to devour, and that Glaticus Necropolis could be the key to establishing a reincarnation cycle within this realm."
Saying that was enough, Hiran did not elaborate further. He did not tell them that the Divine Ruler suspected that there were other, hidden layers of the universe that had yet to be discovered, and that the Glaticus Necropolis could be the key to accessing them.
After all, the universe had changed so much during those days that even now, too many things remained unexplained. The one example that the Divine Ruler gave Hiran was that he believed that realms were not formed naturally and randomly within the Void as everyone believed.
He suspected that, through mechanisms that they had yet to understand, all realms were still connected. There were many hints and clues that supported this theory, but chief among them was the existence of the Innkeeper.
The sudden, inexplicable appearance of a Dao Lord within the Origin realm, regardless of his strength, was not something that could be so easily explained. There was also the fact that he seemed to wield a legacy relating to teleportation that was entirely unknown in the universe.
There were many possible explanations for this, regardless of how unlikely they were. The one that made most logical sense, however, was the fact that the Innkeeper had come from one of those hidden layers of the universe that they had no access to, via the Glaticus Necropolis.
He also left unsaid that the Divine ruler suspected that the Origin realm hid a whole lot more than just the Glaticus Necropolis. If that weren’t the case, then Death wouldn’t have been so interested in it.
There was also the fact that Nuwa had hid one of her temples within the Origin realm. While others may have forgotten due to her interference, Asho remembered.
"Okay, so what does that have to do with any of us?" asked Mama Pari who, quite frankly, was not so interested in reincarnation. As a projection, her constitution was not quite as frail as other beings with physical bodies.
Hiran looked at Mama Pari and could not help but nod. He liked people who could focus on what was important rather than getting caught up in unnecessary details.
"As mythical beings, and beings which share deeply in the aura of the Origin realm, you are the only ones who can safely enter the Necropolis without triggering its more intense self defense mechanisms. I tried to recruit the Innkeeper for this task as well, but he has not shown any real interest in the Necropolis, which is quite a shame."
"And you, what, just trust that we’re not going to interfere with the Necropolis on our own?" asked another Demi-Dao Lord.
Hiran’s smile deepened, and then he turned towards Bastet.
"No, you can merely enter without being targeted too strongly. The only one among you who can actually activate the Necropolis with your current levels of power is Bastet."
That news came as a surprise to everyone in the group, Bastet included, but it also explained so many things. Was this the reason that she had been imprisoned ever since Sekhment was banished? So that she could be kept safe until she was needed?
"But, naturally, we’re not going to send you into the Glaticus without aid or support, nor will you be treated like disposable assets. After all, you too have much to gain from entering, and we have much to gain if the Origin realm has strong natives. It’s a win-win situation for everyone."
