The Innkeeper

Chapter 2498: Whatever you do...

Chapter 2498: Whatever you do...

Lex turned his attention back to the letter, for there was still a lot of content left to read through.

’While the curfew imposed within the Origin realm is somewhat extreme, all Major realms under all organisations will soon be enforcing similar versions of the curfew to reduce the chances of unforeseen circumstances as much as possible.

During the one thousand year initial transition phase, all Dao associated activity is expected to come to a halt across the universe. Even though most Dao Lords do not understand completely where the sense of danger comes from, it is unanimously agreed upon that this transition period is fraught with danger.

Thus, the Henali suspect that within the next few decades, as the various organisations and powers wind up any lingering tasks, they too will seal their realms and prohibit movement between Major realm boundaries.

I expect that you, Innkeeper, do not need me to share these details with you, but I do so anyway as a sign of good faith and the hope that our relationship will not be affected by this temporary set of circumstances.

It has been confirmed that the Primordial Queen has become unusually active, taking initiative to establish some kind of foundation for what we suspect will be the universe’s foremost power, surpassing even the Primals, once the transition period ends.

The Divine Ruler of the Henali has also confirmed that the Queen has taken her first step towards becoming the first being to cross the Dao realm in an official and orthodox manner. What that means or entails, I am not sure.

However, I suspect that her actions also contribute to the dangers of the universe. Thus, I advise you to conclude any business you may have outside your Inn within the next decade as well, and complete any protective measures within that period.

Furthermore, I would also like to emphasize that the ’decade’ reference is not related to the flow of time of any Major or minor realm, but the flow of time within Arch-Heaven. Henceforth, a united universal calendar might be established as the universe itself will soon only measure time according to the flow within Arch-Heaven.

A Dao cycle will also only be calculated according to the flow of time in Arch-Heaven. There are suspicions that the production capacity of Dao Fields and major Dao related resource points will also have their productivity linked to the flow of time inside Arch-Heaven. The rate of flow of time within Arch-Heaven, too, is expected to experience changes over this next period, making it difficult to accurately measure time segments at the moment.

A time of great uncertainty is coming, but for those who survive it, a time of great prosperity will follow. I look forward to seeing you once again in the new Era as a fellow pioneer for what is sure to be the greatest age this universe has ever seen!

During this time, I have given permission for the Midnight tavern to continue operating within the Origin realm, but I request that you limit anyone wishing to enter the Origin realm to below the Immortal realms. If any residents of the Origin realm at the Immortal realm wish to return, they should do so as soon as possible before restrictions are put in place.

Respected Regards,

Hiran Kokan,

Governor of the Origin realm.’

Lex read the whole letter a couple of times and even shared its contents with Mary. A lot of information had been shared by the Governor. Unfortunately, a lot of details were also left out because the Governor assumed that someone like the Innkeeper already knew the details, which is why he only briefly touched upon those topics.

The greatest limitation that he set on the Inn was that the Innkeeper cannot enter, and that no more Immortals can cross into the Origin realm. Although, the thing that Lex cared about most was the news that Dao level activity was going to reduce for a thousand years.

A gleam passed through Lex’s eyes, and the Henali standing in front of the Innkeeper suddenly trembled. They didn’t feel fear. No, their souls were just reacting to the excitement that flashed through Lex’s body. As a being much stronger than these few, not to mention one with a Primordial Dao Body, any and all emotional or physical fluctuations he experienced would suppress those weaker than him unless he purposefully stopped it.

Since this was the first time he lost control like that, he didn’t know to watch out for it. Similarly, the Inn did not suppress the reaction because it was not harming anyone.

Normally, Lex would contain himself, but right now he just couldn’t. 1000 years with suppressed Dao activity, while he had nothing to fear from almost any Celestial Immortal as far as he was concerned.

Without having to be afraid of being killed by a stronger enemy for a thousand years... Lex could only imagine all that he could accomplish!

The Innkeeper put the letter down and looked at the nervous Henali and let out a small laugh.

"Be at ease. I understand what your ancestor is asking of me. Assure him that I will not enter the Origin realm, nor will I allow anyone at the Immortal level to enter the Origin realm. The Henali have been faithful allies of the Midnight Inn. A tiny matter like this is not even worth being concerned over."

It was clear to Lex that the Henali were worried about how the Innkeeper may react to such a firm stance on non-entry, not that the Innkeeper wanted to enter either. It was just that their stance needed to be made clear to all. It was for the best that the Innkeeper reacted just as expected and didn’t cause any problems.

After all, the last time he showed up and stopped a Universal Mandate from being broken with a simple word... was too impactful. No one wanted to mess with him anymore.

"There is another matter," Adana said after bowing again once more gratefully. "The ancestor said that he received a parcel intended for you originating from the Primary realm. If you are expecting it, or wish to receive it, you need only send back word with me and it will be delivered to you. The ancestor kept the item in quarantine in case it was sent with malicious purpose."

The Innkeeper raised an eyebrow, clearly surprised to hear such a thing.

"I wasn’t expecting anything. Do you know what it is? Or who sent it?" the Innkeeper asked with a hint of curiosity.

"According to the ancestor, it’s a box of chocolates, and it was sent by... the Monarch of the Primals."

Mary, who was listening in from far away, suddenly hiccuped as she fell over.

"Lex whatever you do, DO NOT ACCEPT THOSE CHOCOLATES!" Mary screamed unable to stop herself as a forgotten memory was suddenly unlocked in her mind.
