Chapter 1655: Hunter and the Hunted (2)
BOOOM
Uncle Mark slammed his shield into the frozen ground of the ice planet, causing it to tremble. Cracks formed across the icy surface, and a very large crater formed on the ground, snaking thousands of meters long and several meters wide.
All around him, thousands of ice demons ranging from Immortals to Supremes closed down on him. Well, judging by the sheer number of ice demons coming at him and their strength, the number of Supremes paled compared to the Immortals and Demigods.
Then again, one can only sit back and wonder why Immortals and Demigods dared to go against a Supreme.
If anything, they had no business feeling the shockwaves of battles being fought by the Supremes.
Yet, out of blind loyalty, they came at Uncle Mark, who shook his head with pity written all over his face as his shield moved, killing thousands like they were mere bugs.
Granted, they were bugs before such a monstrous demon as his majestic self.
Uncle Mark stood 7 feet tall, his muscles built to wield a shield. He had shoulder-length dark hair and a fine jawline that framed his face perfectly. While not overly handsome like Uncle Ziggy, he wasn’t bad-looking either, especially considering the fact that he had silver ruby-like eyes.
A thin black line tattoo covered the area beneath his left eye, and his body was covered in futuristic armor made of nano-material.
Since his weapon of choice was the shield, he held the rectangular giant shield, using it to smash the heads and bodies of the ice demons coming at him.
“Sad, really. You all could have run and lived to see another day,” Uncle Mark said, bashing the heads of a few thousand Demigods and over a dozen Gods.
Meanwhile, on another side of the frozen battlefield, lightning bullets rained down on the pitiful ice demons. Uncle Ziggy stood in the air like the angel of death, raining down bullets from his twin revolvers.
Uncle Xian moved like the axe demon of dread, every swing claiming the lives of the ice demons.
As for Uncle Jojo, he still continued to fight in his drunken state. He was surrounded by five True Gods and three Supremes, but aside from dodging all their attacks, he had already injured a great many of them.
Uncle James was perhaps the most relaxed of them all. One hand was in his pocket, while the other kept waving through the air, almost as though he were conducting a symphony.
However, wherever he waved, hundreds of heads shot into the air. His boomerangs were like the blades of death, each movement sending them flying across the battlefield.
Lady Elysia kept dancing between the thousands of ice demons, killing and growing stronger in the process. The more deaths there were, the stronger she became. This time, however, every power-up was permanent.
So after this battle, if she grew by 10%, she would retain that power forever.
Klaus planned to take her with him to the Ancient Battlefield since he knew that, if given the chance, she might just become someone so terrifying that words could not describe her.
Already, she ranked among the top 100 strongest Supremes in the universe, so what would happen after she absorbed more death and resentment?
As for Aoi, she was merely sweeping across the battlefield, her sword still sheathed. But with her understanding of swordsmanship, her fingers did all the work.
During the Primordial Era, when Klaus met her, she was someone obsessed with swords. In fact, she was so obsessed with swords that she was nearly driven to madness.
But she succeeded; she reached the pinnacle of swordsmanship and even challenged the Heavenly Dao, seeking to see what lay beyond it.
She died in the encounter, but not before leaving her mark on the universe. Right now, old monsters who knew her were starting to come out of hiding, singing her praises to the rest of the universe, further highlighting her danger level for all to see.
But while all this was happening, Hunter stood on a giant sword, arms crossed over his chest, staring down at Lord Mordrika, who wore a furious expression on his face…
“Isn’t it sad, really? One moment, you were the mighty Lord Mordrika, one of the 48 Demon Lords of the Demon Universe… the next, here you stand, all alone, with no hope of making it out alive,” Hunter said with a slight grin.
He scanned the trembling body of Lord Mordrika and asked,
“I wonder, would you have made a different decision if you had known the Renegade Hunter was actually the Paragon?”
After all, when he threatened Klaus, nobody knew the Renegade Hunter was the infamous Paragon of the Nine Stars. Maybe if he had known, he wouldn’t have made such brazen threats.
But what was regret when Lord Mordrika still thought he would be walking out alive…
“Mad Hunter, it would do you good to know that my lord, the Ice Demon King, has sent aid, and they are on their way. If you leave now, perhaps you will make it out alive. Waste more time, and you will feel sorry for coming here today.”
The confidence in his tone told Hunter he truly believed he would be getting aid from the Demon King whom he served under. However, reinforcement or not, Hunter didn’t care…
Instead, he tapped into the connection between him and one of Klaus’s incarnations—Asura, to be precise.
‘What do you think, son?’ Hunter asked, staring back at Lord Mordrika, who thought he had managed to evoke fear in Hunter.
‘This is overkill, Pops. Sending you was a bit too much. Perhaps if he were in his main base, where his true army resides, you alone wouldn’t have been enough, but now, I wonder if he would even be able to handle just you.’
‘He is surprisingly weak for a Celestial. I bet I can kill him with a single swing of my weapon.’ Hunter chuckled, then flicked his crimson hair to the side.
Asura, who was seated in a lotus posture, comprehending a technique he once used during the Blood Era, smirked. ‘Since he is waiting for reinforcements, why don’t you summon your own? I am sure Asmodeus would have use for the dead bodies.’
‘Asmodeus, really?’
Hunter was taken aback, but Asura’s next words made him grin.
‘Better to prove to the entire universe that even the dead have their use, so they should think twice before provoking my anger.’
‘Very well, son. Let’s unleash the Vile and Evil Undead Sovereign.’
Hunter laughed, and then he said,
“Honestly speaking, even if the Demon King you serve were to come himself, death is your portion today. However, since you are waiting for reinforcements, why don’t I summon mine?”
Lord Mordrika frowned when he heard what Hunter said.
For a moment, a foreboding presence enveloped him.
The next second, however, his expression turned pale when a portal opened, and a pale figure clad in tattered shaman clothing walked out, holding a bone staff…
“Hear me and rejoice, for you are about to witness the power of the one and only Undead Sovereign in the entire universe,” Asmodeus grinned. Then he jammed the pointed end of his bone staff into the ground and commanded,
“ARISE!”
All over the planet and across space, the thousands of dead bodies rose to their feet, their hollow gazes filled with killing intent, locked onto one person—Lord Mordrika.
