Chapter 1658: Shadowless Assassin’s Return

The universe was now digitized beyond anything else.

After all, the Dark Space belonged to everyone and was everywhere, so with the right authority, everything could be streamed for all to see. Klaus had already planned to show the universe how much his legion could accomplish with only a small number of people.

So Icon chose to stream the battle on the Ice Planet.

It was how everyone managed to witness the Mad Hunter and the Five Blood Guards in action. They also saw firsthand how deadly the Angel of Death could be. The rumors had done her justice, but finally witnessing her in action made everyone understand just how insidious her power truly was.

They also saw the infamous Limitless Sword Demoness in action.

Aoi had lived during the Primordial Era and fought in the first-ever Void War, the one that nearly annihilated the universe.

During that war, many powerhouses shone, and one of them was the Limitless Sword Demoness.

She was that deadly, and now she had returned, to the shock of many, especially the Ancient Families, particularly the Ananke Ancient Family, the very family that had banished her, only to regret their actions later after she became a force to be reckoned with.

Now, someone else had appeared, and while everyone could see everything happening like throughout the universe, no one saw the moment Nia appeared.

It was as if she had simply materialized, already holding her dagger to General Babak’s neck.

Both Asmodeus, Hunter, and the Five Blood Guards were left in shock, not expecting one of Klaus’ wives to appear so eerily and with no presence whatsoever.

For a moment, everyone wondered who this mysterious person was. However, when she pulled down her mask and revealed her face, almost every powerhouse in the universe who had lived during the Shadow Era, when the Paragon of Shadows reigned supreme, widened their eyes.

Yes, it was the Shadowless Assassin, the second most dangerous assassin—or perhaps the first during the Shadow Era, considering she had come close many times to killing the Paragon of Shadows.

Nia was the Princess of the Shadowless Demon Clan, one of the most mysterious demon clans in the universe.

Nobody truly knew how extensive their power was, but everyone knew that the greatest assassins in the universe came from that clan, and the greatest among them was the Shadowless Assassin.

When she was sent after the Paragon during the Shadow Era, many believed she wouldn’t fail. However, nothing prepared them for what happened years later. It was said that the Paragon not only conquered her but also made her his wife, and together they became unstoppable.

She was banished from her tribe, but that was only on the surface. Beneath it, she and her parents had already discovered the danger the Demon Court and the Heavens Court posed to the universe, so they chose to remain neutral.

It could be said that the first demon clan to take the path of neutrality was the Shadownless clan.

Years later, their princess had returned, and now, immobilized, General Babak could only ask the question on everyone’s mind.

“How…?”

Nia smiled and answered, still holding her dagger against General Babak’s throat.

“Time, Space, and Void, General. I merely manipulated time to the point where you had yet to appear from the void. Then, knowing you would be coming through the void, I manipulated the space where you would appear, making sure that the moment you emerged, all of my presence would be erased.

It truly is shocking how much you can accomplish if you can manipulate space and the void. I just had to wait for you to appear, walk into the void prison I created, time it perfectly, and slip up on you. It can even be said that you lost long before you arrived.”

Nia laughed, but Hunter and the others narrowed their eyes, and for a moment, they trembled.

If what Nia said was true, then it meant she had arrived long before they sensed her presence. Not even Hunter, who prided himself on having sharp perception, had seen her coming.

‘The Shadowless Assassin sure lives up to her name,’ Hunter said inwardly, a smile forming on his face.

General Babak had turned pale, but even so, he asked, or more like commanded, “You are the Shadowless Assassin. I thought you had long since died.”

“I did die. But when you are the wife of a Paragon, death feels more like sleep. So you can say I slept for a couple of eras and only recently woke up.”

General Babak gritted his teeth. “You are from the Shadowless Demon Clan, right? Are you trying to break the pact and side with the Paragon? The Shadowless Demon Clan had declared its neutrality, so unless you wish to bring doom upon your people, you dare not touch me…”

Nia laughed, almost amused by what General Babak had said…

It was true that the Shadowless Demon Clan had declared its neutrality. This meant they could not attack the members of the Demon Court, just as the Demon Court could not attack them.

If she killed him, the Demon Court would have all the justification it needed to attack the Shadowless Demon Clan. This would be bad for her people…

However…

“You seem to forget that I am on the side of the Paragon, so what does this have to do with the Shadowless Clan? But let’s just say I am with them, and my actions reflect on their karma.

So what? Or are you trying to tell me the Demon Court has what it takes to destroy the Shadowless Demon Clan?” Nia laughed as she spoke, sending a chill through the hearts of many demons.

“I killed the First and Second Demon Emperors as though they were bugs. Do you seriously think I can’t do it again? Let me tell you, I don’t give a heck what the Demon Court thinks, but if they even for a moment dare point their weapons at the Shadowless Clan, then that will be the day everyone witnesses the true power of the Shadowless Assassin.

As for you, I already killed you two and a half minutes ago. You just don’t know it yet.”

As if she had timed it perfectly, the moment she finished speaking, blood gushed out of General Babak’s chest, and his body tensed. Then he turned pale and died.

All across the universe, everyone tensed.

Far away in the Shadowless Demon Clan, a grey-haired man with a beard stroked it with a smile.

“Well then, now that you are back, what do you plan on doing next, daughter?”

He smiled and turned to the side, looking at a portrait of a beautiful woman who looked exactly like Nia hanging on the wall. He smiled and closed his eyes, diving into his soul sea.

A few seconds later, he opened them, and in the next instant, a shadowy portal split open before him, and a figure stepped out.

The newcomer was a man in his late forties, clad in a dark cloak.

“Shadow King, you summoned me.”

“I did, Bitan. Go to the Human Universe, to a planet called Caelmir, and hand this over to my daughter. She will be expecting you, so don’t be late.”

“As you command, Shadow King.”

He took the item stored inside a small box, stepped through the shadow portal, and vanished into thin air.
