71 An Unforeseen Event After Smelling The Fragrance (1)
“Why is it so smelly?” The bosses who were waiting to select talents looked at the expressionless girl holding the bottle in the middle of the stage with disgust. Their good impression of her decreased a little.
The host endured the foul stench that rushed straight to his head as he held the microphone and urged He Miao, “Please, quickly tell us the name of the ingredient. If you can’t, then quickly close the bottle.”
He Miao did not even bother to open her eyes. She closed the bottle with a cold expression and threw the stinky thing on the table.
The indoor air circulation machine started working, and the stench finally dissipated considerably. The audience then saw that the little girl was still standing in the middle of the stage, staring at the perfume bottle in front of her.
“If you can’t answer, then go down. Don’t waste time here.” Zhou Nan’s lips curved into a sneer. This bottle was a treasure that she had specially prepared for He Miao. She could not wait to see her make a fool of herself.
The host also thought that He Miao could not answer. After all, the smell of the bottle just now was so pungent that it was impossible to distinguish the other smells in it.
He did not know who this little girl had offended to actually be targeted to this extent.
He looked at He Miao’s expressionless face and a trace of sympathy rose in his heart. He opened her mouth to persuade her, “Little girl, the question just now should be the most difficult one. It’s normal that you can’t answer it.”
A rough-looking man in a gray suit and black-rimmed glasses looked at Zhou Nan, then at He Miao coldly. “Miss, please don’t waste everyone’s time.”
This man was Zhou Nan’s uncle, Zhou Heng.
He Miao had paused for so long just to identify the last ingredient after the smell had dissipated.
When she heard someone from the panel of judges speaking impatiently first, she looked up and saw that the name tag in front of the person had Zhou Heng’s name written on it.
She knew what to do. She lowered her eyes to hide the coldness in her eyes and looked at the host indifferently. “Can I answer now?”
“Of course you can.” The host thought that the young lady would give up, but she was actually preparing to answer the question!
He Miao looked at Zhou Heng neither haughtily nor humbly, her lips curling into a smile as she said slowly, “Pear, almond, almond sugar, peony, lake mahogany, and crickets.”
Thinking about the source of the stench, He Miao’s smile widened. “There’s one last thing, vanilla.”
Upon hearing her mention this, Zhou Heng immediately frowned and said, “Nonsense. None of the things you mentioned just now would cause such a strong stench. Tell me, how did this stench come about?”
A hint of panic flashed in Zhou Nan’s eyes. No one knew better than her what she had done. She could only bet that He Miao was a newbie and did not know the theory behind that thing.
However, it was obvious that He Miao was going to let her hopes go to waste.
She had been making fragrances for so many years, how could she not know these basic knowledge?
She calmly looked back at the questioning eyes of the audience, “Vanilla is also known as sweet pod orchid. As we all know, mature sweet pod orchid fruits have no fragrance and must be specially baked for several months. But during this process, the smell of vanilla is exactly the same as the smell you just smelled.”
He Miao saw everyone’s expression of sudden realization and continued, “And the reason why the bottle I opened just now emitted this smell was because someone added vanilla, which had not been completely processed.”
After her explanation, no one raised any more doubts.
In fact, as the bosses of the fragrance and perfumes industry, they might know that this was the smell of vanilla.
However, in this competition, everyone had tacitly agreed that the ingredients chosen by the students would at least be finished products. They did not expect the organizer to add such half-finished ingredients into the competition’s questions, so they did not think of it for a moment.
The people in the audience looked at He Miao with a probing gaze, all guessing her identity. After all, someone who could make the organizers go through so much trouble to target her should not be a simple person.
Zhou Nan gritted her teeth so hard that she wanted to break them. She had tried so hard to target He Miao, but instead, she had helped him achieve her goal, allowing He Miao to make a name for himself on stage.
She looked at Zhou Heng unwillingly. She had not lost yet. Although He Miao had passed the perfume test by luck, she did not believe that He Miao would be able to make a perfume that was better than hers.
She still had a chance to step on her!
