Chapter 4508: Restrained Approach

Sentinel Prime’s eyes sharpened as he found himself faced with an onslaught of potent web shots aimed at binding him.

"Your attacks are too weak."

VMMM!!!

The plasma beam cannons in his hand began shining brightly with charged energy before unleashing dense plasma beams at the incoming web attacks. The plasma beams burned the incoming web shots much more slowly than he expected, speaking to the sheer durability of those webs.

His plasma was not ordinary ionized gas, but rather quark-gluon plasma, one of the hottest forms of plasma in the world. And he could generate an ocean’s worth of it with the plasma generators in his body. Despite that, his plasma beams were only reluctantly able to disintegrate the webshots launched by his opponents.

While he burned them down, the two divine children pulled themselves forth through the emptiness of space not by relying on conventional propulsion systems but rather by relying on their negatron-infused esoteric webs. They shot the webs forth from their web stingers, using them to latch onto space and time itself. The webs then contracted with great force, allowing them to shoot towards their target with immense speed.

They lunged at Sentinel Prime with extraordinary speeds that exceeded even his phenomenal reaction time.

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!!!

They struck him with enough force to shatter moons, testing his body’s extraordinary defenses. Thankfully, his electromagnetically reinforced tempered invintium skeleton held out. However, some of his internal organs weren’t nearly as unfazed. Where sentinels diverged from tekvores was that sentinels were unable to replace their entire body with technological components. Tekvore DNA was hyper-predisposed to assimilation and integration of external objects, but the same could not be said for their descendants who had only inherited part of their DNA.

Thus, almost all of their exteriors and less vital organs were replaced. The more crucial organs were still present, and still subject to the same limitations as before the sentinel walked their hybrid path. They could be and were upgraded with biotechnology, but there were limits to that as well.

These limitations only mattered when they faced opponents with extraordinary power. Unfortunately, the two twins that he faced were clearly in that category.

’I’ll have to be especially careful against these two.’

SPLAT SPLAT SPLAT!!!

He faced a volley of splattering webshots from the male from above him, forcing him to burn them with his plasma beams while the female rushed at him straightforwardly, launching herself at him with catapulting webs that anchored to space itself.

BOOOOOOOM!!!

This time, he defended against her bull rush with greater caution, intercepting her shoulder bash with a well-honed guarding posture that was suspiciously Martial in its execution. His cybernetic eyes sharpened as the female arakai thrust at him with her web stinger, clearly the main attack, to try and inject his body with her web.

It was within his anticipation, however.

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!!!

His plasma-laden fist reached the alien before her attack could reach his, allowing him to inflict a massive blow to her body.

A grimace emerged from the female as she was flung away thousands of kilometers in just a fraction of a second. The web armor covering her body had been burned at the point of contact with the sentinel’s plasma-laden fist, her flesh still smoldering from the remnant plasma. She quickly patched it up with a bit of web before preparing another catapult maneuver.

Her twin brother oo-oo-ooo had been engaging the sentinel alone; she knew that neither of them would be able to defeat the sentinel alone, as frustrating as that admission was.

"We. Can. Capture. Any. Being. When. We. Work. Together!"

She shot forth at high speeds, using her web to stick to space and time itself, allowing her to maneuver as if she were swinging about a fixed point. Because of how potent her web’s contractions and shortening were, she could reach speeds that vastly surpassed what ordinary propulsion systems could provide.

Their maneuvering and their numbers were the advantages they had over the sentinel prime. She knew that her web was tough enough that if they could cover the Sentinel with it, he would not be able to bring himself out of it in time. And that was the goal.

Of course, Sentinel Prime was keenly aware of this. The web was dangerous, even for him. Even if he could break out of it, it was so adhesive that they would be able to kill him while he tried. The best solution was to avoid getting hit with it in the first place.

Unfortunately, he was extremely ill-suited for a battle of evasion. Sentinels were massive. They were easy to target. They were slower. That meant evasion was not a viable tactic. Especially against opponents that had proven to be able to maneuver across space like acrobats.

"I will have to push my plasma beam cannons to the limit and burn through my reserves with abandon in order to keep them at bay."

This was a suboptimal option, as far as he was concerned. Ideally, he would be able to kill them, but trying to kill them was risky because they were strong enough that he couldn’t kill both at once. And if he tried to focus on killing one, he would expose himself to the other and risk being captured.

The idea of being captured was a horrifying one; Sentinel Prime would rather unlock the antimatter chamber in his body and self-destruct in the matter-antimatter annihilation that would ensue.

He had been captured before. He had been enslaved before by NOVA. It was easily the worst possible thing he could conceive of. It was so horrifying that he wouldn’t wish it on his worst enemies, aside from the late NOVA herself.

Thus, he took a posture that prioritized not being captured above all other priorities. That didn’t mean he was taking a step back from the war, of course. Just keeping these two menacing divine children at bay was a great service to the war.
