Chapter 4551: Disdain for Metaphysics
Chapter 4551: Disdain for Metaphysics
Professor Seonard stared at the young man with a puzzled expression. Their eyes locked, and the professor struggled to look away. As if his vision was being controlled, like a snake charming hypnotizing a snake.
Before he even knew it, he had raised his hand, pointing at the man. "Yes, you."
’Eh, why did I just give that man the question? I don’t even recognize him.’ The professor grew confused before shaking his head. ’I need to sleep more. I’m not young anymore...’
The black-haired, black-eyed man stood up, drawing attention from the other students around him. They all glanced at him with a perplexed expression, as if they almost didn’t recognize him. Ah, but then they did; memories of him being in their class suddenly emerged in their mind. Indeed, he was in this course and a student of this institute.
Even if they couldn’t remember his name, for some reason.
"Professor Lusskind, I wanted to ask you about whether or not it is theoretically possible for us to access these higher dimensions predicted by your String Theory." His black eyes glinted with interest. "Is it possible to develop a wormhole that can allow us to enter these dimensions? And more particularly, is it possible for Martial Sages and Martial Corporeals to master this high principle the way they have mastered many other high principles?"
That question stirred the interest of other students. Although it was a question that was a little outside of the territory covered by the lecture, it was a curious thought nonetheless. Although the higher Realms used to be secretive and mystical in the past, often considered confidential information, they had since been released for the scientific community to research and had since become public information.
At the very least, people knew what the Martial Soul was, what its power was, what the condition for achieving it was, and that Martial Sages could leverage an intuitive and instinctive understanding of high theoretical physics to produce great effects in battle that would otherwise require advanced technology.
The students were curious if Martial Sages could tap into higher dimensions. Although they felt like saying no, they couldn’t be certain. Everybody knew that Martial Sages had historically been ahead of the curve of normal scientific theory.
The turning point for this was two-fold. The Emperor of Water, who popularized understanding of theory and the Unfolding, which exposed them to advanced civilizations.
Professor Seonard considered the question, stroking his gray beard as his aged eyes wandered about. "...I believe it is possible to enter higher dimensions. These are spatial dimensions, not abstract dimensions. They are simply locked in a manifold."
That word made the black-haired-black-eyed man’s expression light up with interest. "Are these manifolds in String Theory the same as the manifolds of the Kandrian Empire and the Greater Manifold of the Panama Continent?"
The professor shook his head. "I cannot say. Those phenomena are connected to esoteric scientific phenomena, which are not related to my work. I primarily am developing String Theory to incorporate conventional matter, dark matter, the four fundamental forces, and potentially dark energy. This accounts for about 99.999999% of all forms of matter we have observed. Things like esoteric matter account for an extraordinarily small portion of all matter in the universe."
In truth, the professor suspected esoteric matter might have had something to do with higher dimensions. He even suspected that esoteric matter was matter that emerged from another universe with different laws of physics. Perhaps the hadron colliders that could produce unfathomably minute amounts of this matter were simply ripping holes in reality and drawing matter from another universe.
He would be lying if he said that he wasn’t curious about these theories and entities being connected, but esoteric matter was far too deep a chasm for him to jump into at this point in time. It would take him decades to master the science behind it, and integrating it into String Theory was an ambitious project that would become one of the greatest scientific discoveries to ever be made.
But he had a limited lifespan, and he wanted to focus on more achievable goals to earn the remaining merits needed to drink a drop of blood of the Emperor of Water.
"Hm, interesting," the black-haired, black-eyed man said, falling into thought, before turning back to the professor with powerful eyes. "My final question to you is this: what do you think is the relationship between the information dimension and the higher dimensions?"
The mention of the information dimension caused all of the students and even the professor to frown. The information dimension was... a hypothesis that the Emperor of Water insisted upon after breaking through to the Transcendent Realm thirteen years ago. He had generously told everybody what the basis of the power of the Transcendent Realm was, but when they heard the truth, they found it truly hard to believe.
Especially the scientific community.
An abstract, immaterial, inaccessible layer of reality supposedly at the root of reality that contained the information describing and actively determining reality itself? It was an extremely difficult thing to believe.
They were scientists. Scientists believed in evidence. At the very least, if one was proposing something, then one needed to have some kind of evidence. Maybe not explicit empirical proof, but at the very least a theoretical model that was consistent with empirical evidence.
The evidence for the information dimension was nonexistent. It was even more unfathomable than String Theory, which could at least be tested, even if extremely reluctantly, minutely, and at the edges. String Theory had rock-solid mathematical foundations going for it; the information dimension, on the other hand, was completely random and out of nowhere. It was entirely derived from the experiences of the Emperor.
Had it been anybody else who proposed it, the scientific community would have called it pseudoscience and shunned the person who proposed it as a bad scientist at best, or a scammer, or even a delusional person. .
However, because it was none other than the undisputed most powerful man in the history of Gaia, they shut their mouths.
