Chapter 4564: Ruthless Resourcefulness

"Impossible." The Emperor of Water shook his head. "I cannot and will not divulge any information regarding my ability to overwhelm the price of Transcendence."

The Alpha of the Firebreather Clan stared at Rui in an intense but calm manner. His mind, however, was racing. He was thinking of ways to get his hands on Rui’s ability. That had already become the main focus for him. The war, the elimination of Divine Mothers- these were secondary matters.

If they unshackle the Skyfathers of their civilization from the price of the Skyverse, then they would not have to deal with disappearing from reality for extended periods of time. They would become ten times more powerful as a civilization with these trump cards unshackled from their limitations.

However, even he could understand that Rui’s tone of voice was resolute. He was not going to reveal this secret that easily, and Lord Sheshank couldn’t even blame him for that. He would have to figure out another way to get his hands on this Administrator’s ability.

He considered rejecting this deal to put more pressure on this alien Administrator. He hoped that the War Faction could make this alien’s civilization much more desperate, to the point where this Chancellor would finally agree to share the secret.

Refusing a deal until their party was in a more desperate position was a common negotiating tactic for heads of state. It was simply foolish to agree to a deal when you could get better terms by simply waiting.

However, it appeared that the Gaian Chancellor was not so easily pressured.

"If you do not agree to this arrangement, then it is only a matter of time before the Divine Mothers of the War Faction acquire my ability to ignore Transcendence once they ambush me or trap me." Rui shrugged. "When that happens, the warmonger Divine Mothers will destroy my civilization. And then they will destroy your civilization. Your Skyfathers do not have the ability to remain using their Verse, so they will disappear, and you will be left with nobody to protect your civilization from the wrath of highly aggressive, angry, and vengeful Divine Mothers."

Both Divine Mother ooo—o- and the Dessandrite Alphas reacted with surprise at his words. The former frowned at him with narrowed eyes, not having expected that Rui would say that her political opponents would get their hands on his power. The Alphas of the dessandrites looked as if they hadn’t even considered this possibility.

But what he was saying made sense when they thought about it. He was one Administrator. The Divine Mothers had already gathered a lot of intel on his combat power in his last battle. All they needed to do was round up half a dozen or so sisters to ambush and trap him, and then extract the knowledge for overcoming the price of Transcendence from his brain.

When that happened, the Dessandrite Sky Civilization would be in a tremendous amount of trouble!

Lord Sheshank turned back towards Rui with a wary gaze. He didn’t expect the leader of such a small civilization to be so excellent at applying pressure to an advanced civilization like the dessandrites. He was so ruthlessly resourceful that he didn’t even bat an eye at using his own likely defeat as a card against the dessandrites.

"...You are an interesting specimen, Chancellor Rui," Lord Sheshank eventually replied. "Very well then, we accept your proposal tentatively. We can discuss the details in a more apt setting."

Rui nodded, relaxing. Thankfully, his tactic worked. Nobody wanted to face Divine Mothers who wouldn’t disappear. However, it also meant that he had turned himself into an even more vital target in the eyes of the dessandrites.

"Let’s meet in person," he proposed, much to the surprise of the dessandrite Alphas. "I would like to communicate directly just to ensure that there isn’t any confusion in translation."

Lord Sheshank stared at Rui with a scrutinizing gaze, as if trying to detect deception in his body language. He wouldn’t be able to, given that they were so different from each other. But he found it surprising that Rui was willing to show up in person. Wasn’t he afraid that they would ambush him?

Lord Sheshank had considered the option. However, Rui actively proposing a meeting in person made him wonder if he was the one being ambushed. If that was the case, then it would be extremely bold.

But it would make sense. After all, the other party didn’t have to worry about the price of Transcendence, so he could simply meet up, go all out, and have the Skyfathers eventually disappear.

Rui remained calm, not betraying his emotions on his face. He had gone out of his way to propose a meeting in person because he wanted them to be wary of an ambush. After all, if they feared an ambush, it was extremely unlikely that they would ambush him.

Not that he was particularly afraid of an ambush this time around.

After all, having tapped into hyperdimensional principles, he was confident that he could hyperdimensionally escape from the ambush if push came to shove. He didn’t fully understand the temperament of the dessandrites, so he couldn’t rule out anything.

’Best to take the Armor of Flowing Wisdom with me.’

"...Very well, we accept your offer," Lord Sheshank replied cautiously. "We look forward to the meeting to finalize the details."

Rui nodded. They finalized the details before ending the meeting.

Rui heaved a sigh, falling into thought as he leaned forward on his table, pondering his situation.

"Are you sure, Your Excellency?" The voice of his secretary drew his attention, filled with concern. "You’re dealing with civilizations much more advanced and powerful than us. It would be risky to go without any kind of security measure."

"Relax, I’m not going unprepared," Rui replied with a serious expression. "But it is a risk I’ll have to take. We need their help if we want to deal with the arakai more smoothly. Otherwise, any victory will be pyrrhic at best."
