Chapter 388: Fusion!

Chapter 388: Fusion!

"I must retrieve the crow," the shaman mused, his voice laced with an unmistakable sense of urgency. He understood the dire situation at hand—the three-eyed crow was rapidly losing its strength and needed his intervention.

He knew that without his direct influence, the three-eyed crow would be no match for the Black-feathered Lightning Eagle. With a burst of dark energy, the shaman vanished from his current location, leaving behind nothing but a faint trace of his malevolent aura. His singular objective was crystal clear: to rescue the faltering crow, execute his calculated plan, and regain control of the battle.

Danny's sharp instincts immediately detected the shaman's disappearance, his senses honed to perceive even the slightest disturbances in the environment. It was not a mere display of speed that allowed the shaman to vanish without a trace or he would have caught it with his eyes; it was something more elusive—a spatial manipulation or teleportation-like movement technique.

Determined not to lose sight of his cunning adversary, Danny unleashed his spiritual sense, flooding the forest with his powerful spiritual energy. Every shift in Qi and energy, every hint of movement, became the subject of his intense scrutiny. He focused primarily on his immediate surroundings, where the clash between the two demon beasts was raging.

The air crackled with anticipation as Danny extended his senses, searching for any telltale signs of the shaman's presence. His concentration was unwavering, his senses attuned to the ebb and flow of the spiritual currents. With each passing second, he delved deeper into the forest's essence, seeking any trace, any disruption that would guide him to the shaman's location.

His focus encompassed the immediate area where the demon beasts were locked in combat, recognizing it as a potential site of the shaman's reappearance.

"Dammit!" Danny's instincts proved correct. The old shaman had employed a shadow-based movement technique, utilizing the darkness to cloak his movements. However, Danny's keen spiritual sense had captured the precise moment when the shaman emerged from a shadowy curtain, revealing his location in a split second.

It was clear that the shaman's intent was to reach his fallen crow, which had just endured a fierce strike from the Lightning Eagle.

Without wasting a moment, Danny sent a resolute command through their mental connection to Aquilla, urging her to unleash a relentless assault on the shaman. He knew that allowing the shaman to reach the crow could tip the scales in the enemy's favor. Who knows what kind of tricks and artifacts the old shaman had concealed within the folds of his robes?

Danny knew better than to underestimate his opponent. With the shaman's proximity to the fallen crow, the stakes were higher than ever. He did not want to give the shaman an opportunity to unleash any further surprises.

"Aquilla, attack him with all your might! Don't let him get to the crow!" Danny's mental directive carried a sense of urgency, emphasizing the gravity of the situation. As he issued the command, he himself surged forward, propelling his body with the speed and precision of an arrow released from a taut bowstring.

His aim was to intercept the shaman before he could reach the fallen crow, to protect his ally from further harm. He also took out a couple of Qi and strength-boosting pills from his pouch and threw them in his mouth to give himself a boost.

Aquilla's piercing eyes ignited with dazzling sparks of lightning-blue energy. Her beak opened wide, facing the direction of the shaman who had appeared at a distance from his adversary. Gathering the raw power of the storm within her, she conjured a formidable ball of crackling lightning between her beaks.

With a swift and forceful motion, she unleashed the concentrated energy, sending it hurtling toward the shaman's position with unerring accuracy.

The beam of electrifying brilliance struck the shaman's location with an explosion of electrical fury, sending shockwaves rippling through the air. The unleashed lightning aimed to incapacitate the shaman and prevent him from reaching the vulnerable three-eyed crow.

To Danny's dismay, the shaman displayed astonishing agility, evading the lightning attack using his shadow technique. However, his control faltered, and he tumbled to the ground, propelled by the residual blast force. His body rolled to a stop near the three-eyed crow, his labored coughs punctuating the tense atmosphere as blood stained his lips.

With a mixture of frustration and determination, the shaman quickly popped a dark pill in his mouth and swiftly placed his hand on the three-eyed crow, unleashing a surge of dark Qi that enveloped both him and the creature. The duo became ensconced in a malevolent dark fire, emanating a putrid odor of corruption and evil.

Danny's eyes narrowed as he swiftly summoned a Graded Bow, its intricate runes gleaming with power. He expertly notched an arrow, imbuing it with the lightning element Qi, and charging it with the full force of his energy. With a determined focus, he released the arrow, aiming to pierce through the dark fire that ensnared the old shaman and the crow.

The arrow surged forward, a streak of crackling lightning cutting through the air with unrivaled speed and precision. It raced toward its target, propelled by Danny's Lightning Qi and the potent energy it carried.

The runes on the arrow glowed with intensity as it soared through the air, set on a collision course with the dark fire, seeking to shatter the malevolent hold it had over the shaman and the crow.

As soon as the arrow collided with the dark fire, a cacophony of anguished screams reverberated through the forest, resonating with the tormented souls trapped within the infernal blaze. The clash of the lightning-infused arrow and the malevolent dark fire intensified, creating a fierce battle of elemental forces.

The crackling electricity intertwined with the dark spirits, its illuminating power combating the darkness that held them captive.

The collision persisted, the arrow inching closer to piercing through the shroud of darkness. Danny prepared himself to knock another arrow, ready to deliver the final blow. However, just as he was about to take action, a chilling voice emerged from the heart of the dark fire. It spoke in an otherworldly tone, laced with an unsettling mix of anguish and determination, freezing Danny in his tracks.

"Your efforts are futile, mortal. Darkness and despair shall consume you. Resistance is but a fleeting breath against the inevitable."

The voice, distorted and inhuman, held a commanding presence that sent a shiver down Danny's spine. His instincts warned him of the formidable power lurking within the dark fire, and he knew that the battle was far from over.
