Chapter 15
Chapter 15
The Cave
The place where Zhao Zhan often lived when he was hunting was located in the deeper parts of the mountains.
He walked very quickly, but he held her very steadily. He carefully protected the legs in his arms, afraid that she would get injured again.
By the time they reached the cave, Yue Jiaojiao did not even have a single drop of rain on her.
“It’s a little messy, I’ll clean it up first. Jiaojiao, sit here and wait for me for a while.” Zhao Zhan felt a sense of shame that his secret had been seen through. He quickly turned around and tidied up the sleeping area. “This place is a little dirty. Jiaojiao, if you don’t feel comfortable, you can look at the scenery outside.”
Yue Jiaojiao sat at the entrance of the cave and observed the situation inside.
The cave was not big, about 15 square meters. There was no bed in it, and it could be seen that Zhao Zhan usually slept on a pile of straw. There was a water tank at the entrance of the cave, which had been carried up somehow, and a pile of firewood beside it.
There were many nails on the wall of the cave, with rice, flour, and meat hanging on it.
The items were neatly arranged, and they did not look dirty and messy at first glance.
Yue Jiaojiao did not stop Zhao Zhan.
The rain fell from the entrance of the cave, and she seemed to be hiding in a water-like curtain. Looking out, there was still a little greenery that could be seen, and even the air was fresh and different from the modern world.
“Are you tired?” Zhao Zhan washed his hands and walked over to Yue Jiaojiao. Seeing that she was lost in her thoughts, he carefully squatted in front of her. “I’ve tidied up the bed. Do you want to sleep for a while?”
Hearing the sound of the rain, Yue Jiaojiao was indeed a little sleepy.
She reached out and wrapped her arms around Zhao Zhan’s neck, allowing him to carry her.
“The straw is hard and prickly, it’s not worthy for her at all,” thought Zhao Zhan.
Therefore, Zhao Zhan set up a hammock in the cave.
There was no blanket in the cave, so Zhao Zhan took out a thick jacket from his change of clothes in the cave and covered Yue Jiaojiao with it.
“We can only make do with it first. When I can go out, I’ll get you a better one.”
Zhao Zhan’s clothes had the smell of clean soap, but Yue Jiaojiao didn’t mind. She nodded and quickly fell asleep.
Seeing that she was sleeping soundly, Zhao Zhan carefully scattered some insect-proof powder around the cave. Then, he started a fire at the entrance of the cave where it would not be drenched by the rain to prevent wild beasts from approaching.
After doing all this, Zhao Zhan quietly left the cave.
He wasn’t wearing a straw raincoat, and the heavy rain made it hard for him to open his eyes. However, he walked very fast. It would have taken him an hour and a half to reach the town, but he only spent less than an hour.
The owner of the tailor shop had just sold him a big order in the morning, so he naturally remembered Zhao Zhan. When he saw him enter the shop, drenched, he asked the waiter to prepare tea and greeted him with a smile. “Why are you out in such heavy rain? If you have anything you need, just let me know, and I’ll make sure to send it to your home.”
“I want to buy two clean blankets and the clothes I bought from you this morning…” He said.
After Zhao Zhan finished speaking, he thought that Zhao Kuazi might be wearing those clothes, and he was stuck for a moment.
Wearing the same clothes as someone like Zhao Kuazi would not be seen as a good sign.
He had sold so many ready-made clothes in one go. The other party had better not come in the heavy rain to find trouble and demand the same pieces. With his small body and the shop assistant, he couldn’t beat the burly man in front of him.
“Boss, do you have any other styles for sale?”
The boss’s breath caught in his throat as he nodded willingly. “Yes, yes, but the ones you picked this morning were already the best ready-to-wear ones on the first floor. If you want to order other designs, why don’t you go to the second floor to take a look?”
