Chapter 1825 - 1425: Mission Log
Chapter 1825: Chapter 1425: Mission Log
In their exchange, the two gradually entered this Chaos Continent.
The Chaos Continent seems like just a piece of land in the Endless Chaos, but it also has specific entrances. Apart from those entrances, other areas are sealed by a Big Array. If one tries to force their way in, the consequences are their own to bear.
The Continent’s Sealing Array is mainly to guard against invasions by the Devouring Sky Clan’s creatures. These beings are very active within the Endless Chaos; no one knows when one might pop up to devour the Chaos Continent. Without a Sealing Array, the Devouring Sky Clan’s creatures could descend upon the Continent and cause enormous destruction in a very short time.
At the entrance of the Continent, guards are stationed. These guards are the elite of Laning Country, and their armor is specially forged. Though their individual strength isn’t particularly formidable, a team of a hundred, combined with the Formation Power embedded in their armor, can easily slay ordinary Life at the Law Realm.
Jing Yan and Luo Bing quickly passed the inspection, and these guards did not charge any fees. What they were on guard against were the spies of the Devouring Sky Clan.
In the Endless Chaos, numerous evil Life forms have also pledged allegiance to the Devouring Sky Clan. The Devouring Sky Clan is exceedingly brutal, devouring everything, yet they are also intelligent and clever. They occupy barren lands lacking resources and, as their true forms are easily recognizable, they rely on spies to gather intelligence for them.
When the Devouring Sky Clan intends to attack a specific Continent, they usually first send spies to gather information to see if there are invincible beings on that Continent.
Jing Yan and Luo Bing were very clean, so they easily passed the guards’ checks.
"This place is much more prosperous than my home Continent. My home Continent is located in a Chaotic Region, where the creatures of the Devouring Sky Clan frequently come and go." Luo Bing looked around and said somewhat sadly.
Jing Yan didn’t know what to say to comfort Luo Bing.
"Fellow Daoist Jing Yan, you mentioned earlier that you wanted to go to the Origin Land. This Continent should have a Super Transmission Array, but they won’t allow you to use it," Luo Bing said.
"Well, then I’ll first go to the Slaughter God Temple to become a Chaos Slayer. Once I reach a sufficient level, it will be possible." Jing Yan nodded.
"I also intend to go to the Slaughter God Temple. My home Continent doesn’t have a branch of the Slaughter God Temple, so like you, I’m not a Chaos Slayer. Fellow Daoist Jing Yan, shall we apply at the Slaughter God Temple together?" Luo Bing said with sparkling eyes.
"Sure!" Jing Yan had no objections.
After some casual inquiries, Jing Yan and Luo Bing learned of the Slaughter God Temple’s location. The Slaughter God Temple is certainly one of the most famous places on this Continent. Most Life long residing here know where the Slaughter God Temple is located.
Not long after, Jing Yan understood why Luo Bing was certain that he was not a Chaos Slayer.
Because every Chaos Slayer has a mark on their robes. A One Ring Chaos Slayer’s robe has a silver circle, while a Two Ring Slayer’s robe has two silver circles. It’s quite easy to recognize. Furthermore, once you register at the Slaughter God Temple as a Chaos Slayer, this mark will appear on your robes no matter what you wear, linked to your Divine Soul Body and not fixed on any particular garment.
Chaos Slayers are indeed quite common; on the way to the Slaughter God Temple, Jing Yan saw several Life with marks, but all only had one circle. It seems upgrading as a Chaos Slayer is not easy.
The architecture of the Slaughter God Temple is very striking, grand, and imposing. Layers of Formation Divine Patterns faintly appear on the building’s surface, wisps of killing intent swirling on its exterior, which makes just a glance send one’s mind reeling.
Inside the building, dozens of Chaos Slayers can be seen in the hall, most with one ring, with only two or three marked as Two Ring Chaos Slayers. Some were examining the task logs, recorded on two gigantic Steles describing various task details.
The registration process is simple. After registering basic identity information, one leaves a Divine Soul Imprint, which will be reviewed by someone responsible for assessing the applicant’s Law Cultivation Realm. Jing Yan is close to the top Earth Realm Life, while Luo Bing is a One-step Dao Method Realm Life. Both meet the conditions to apply as Chaos Slayers.
In the Endless Chaos, below the Dao Skill Realm is the Earth Realm. The Earth Realm corresponds to the First to Third Rank Supreme Law Cultivation Realm in Jing Yan’s home universe. Jing Yan is a Third Rank Supreme, meaning he is at the Peak Earth Realm.
After passing the review, Jing Yan immediately felt a strange energy wave descending from the top of the Divine Hall. This energy was subtle yet connected with his Divine Soul Body. Soon, on his blue robe, at the chest area, a gray circle appeared.
The gray circle signifies that Jing Yan is a newcomer to the Chaos Slayers, not yet reaching the One Ring Chaos Slayer. After completing a task, the gray circle will brighten, turning silver. Only then will he truly be considered a One Ring Chaos Slayer.
In short, both Jing Yan and Luo Bing are not yet true Chaos Slayers; their Slaughter levels have not yet been activated.
"You two, follow me!" said a middle-aged woman in a gray robe to Jing Yan and Luo Bing.
She was a guide; a fairly strong Dao Method Realm, possibly at the Third-step Daoist Realm level, estimated by Jing Yan.
The guides arranged by the Slaughter God Temple are a benefit for new Chaos Slayers, as they will inform newcomers of how to take up tasks and various essential rules.
Jing Yan and Luo Bing obediently followed the guide.
"This Stele’s tasks are official tasks. Those on this other Stele are private tasks," the guide pointed out separately to the hall’s two Steles to Jing Yan and Luo Bing.
The surfaces of the two Steles looked the same. However, the official Stele’s content was sparse, with only a few simple tasks. In contrast, the private task Stele was more chaotic, with task information continuously emerging, of a messier nature. A quick glance by Jing Yan revealed that most private tasks involved searching for special resources or recruiting to explore some Chaos Relics.
"For you two, note that as newcomers, you can only accept One Ring Tasks. Higher-level tasks are not for you to view; looking would serve no purpose. Since you’re newcomers, if you are considering taking on tasks, I suggest opting for official tasks. Official One Ring Tasks pose slightly less danger because their intelligence is far clearer and more detailed than private tasks," the guide continued introducing to the two.
