The Sword God of the Universe

Chapter 1828: Fate Tracking

Chapter 1828: Chapter 1828: Fate Tracking

When Luo Bing heard Jing Yan’s words, she was somewhat puzzled.

Jing Yan’s exact words were ’don’t leave my side’, which, on the surface, sounded fine. But upon closer thought, there was something off. By saying this, it seemed as if Jing Yan was implying that he could protect Luo Bing.

This was precisely what puzzled Luo Bing. Jing Yan was only at the Earth Realm Peak level, so how could he protect her? Although she was just at the One-step Dao Method Realm, she was nonetheless a strong Daoist Realm expert. The gap between the Earth Realm and the Daoist Realm was indeed significant.

This was undoubtedly true.

In Jing Yan’s home universe, it’s basically impossible to find a Third-rank Supreme who could rival a High-level Supreme. For a Third-rank Supreme to advance to High-level Supreme is exceedingly difficult.

However, Luo Bing didn’t think much of it, assuming Jing Yan simply misspoke. Although she hadn’t known Jing Yan for long, she felt that he seemed like a decent person, not the type to be boastful and arrogant.

"It seems that the creatures on this continent are already doomed," Gu Mie said.

Clearly, he had also probed with his Divine Soul Power.

"If those creatures have already been devoured, then there’s nothing we can do. Our task is to eliminate the Devouring Sky Clan lifeforms occupying this continent," Liu Sha said, gazing into the distance.

"Brother Gu Mie, so what do we do next? You have the most experience, we’ll all follow your lead," Jin Kun said, flattering Gu Mie.

"Although this is a mini continent, it’s still very vast. If the Devouring Sky Clan lifeform is hiding, it won’t be easy for us to find it. Fortunately, this lifeform seems to still be devouring continental matter and not deliberately hiding. So, we should split up to search, and once we find it, quickly contact the others using the task token," Gu Mie said slowly.

The task tokens from the Slaughter God Temple also have communication functions. As long as the distance isn’t too far, they can convey messages to each other.

"Alright!" Jin Kun immediately replied.

"I have no objections either, splitting up could help locate the Devouring Sky Clan lifeform faster," Liu Sha said.

Luo Bing glanced at Jing Yan. Excluding Jing Yan, she was the weakest amongst them, so she wouldn’t have any dissenting opinions.

"I agree!" Luo Bing then stated.

Temporarily separating from Jing Yan was no problem, as they would quickly regroup upon spotting the Devouring Sky Clan lifeform.

"Let’s move out then!" Gu Mie announced.

Jing Yan hadn’t expressed his opinion yet.

Apparently, none of these people seemed to care about Jing Yan’s opinion. Indeed, they considered bringing along this Earth Realm newcomer as already a great favor. They thought, since he was being included, he should feel grateful, not offer objections.

"Wait a moment!" Jing Yan said.

Instantly, the gaze of Gu Mie and the others fell on Jing Yan.

Gu Mie frowned and said, "Jing Yan, what’s the matter with you? We’re merely asking you to search for traces of the Devouring Sky Clan lifeform, not asking you to fight them. What, are you even afraid of this?"

"If you’re that scared, get off this continent; don’t get in the way!" Jin Kun barked angrily at Jing Yan.

Jing Yan frowned, giving Jin Kun a glance of discontent. He was getting quite annoyed with Jin Kun. From the onset of the mission, this person had been targeting him verbally. Jing Yan was just choosing to ignore it, but that didn’t mean Jin Kun could insult him at will.

"Jin Kun, if you keep spewing insults, don’t blame me for turning hostile!" Jing Yan said with a grim face.

"Oh, this lad’s got quite the temper! Turn hostile? I’d like to see how you plan to do that. Do you actually dare to make a move against me?" Jin Kun replied with a mocking tone.

"Alright, stop wasting time. The sooner we finish the task, the sooner we can go back. I took on the One Ring Task to have it easier," Gu Mie said, frowning.

"I’m not afraid to search for the Devouring Sky Clan lifeform traces. What I want to say is, there’s no need for us to split up. I have a clue about the Devouring Sky Clan lifeform’s whereabouts," Jing Yan said in a serious tone.

"Hmm?"

"You’ve got a clue?"

"What did you find?" Gu Mie and the others were momentarily stunned and then asked in quick succession.

"Fellow Daoist Jing Yan, could it be that you’ve mastered a tracking Secret Technique?" Liu Sha asked curiously, her voice carrying through the veil she wore.

In Chaos, some Secret Techniques indeed possess strong tracking abilities. However, these are quite rare and not everyone has the opportunity to learn them.

Upon hearing Liu Sha’s speculation, Gu Mie and Jin Kun’s eyes lit up.

When carrying out a slaughter mission, especially group tasks, if there’s a member adept in tracking, the task becomes significantly more manageable.

Jing Yan paused for a moment and then said, "Yes!"

In truth, Jing Yan hadn’t practiced any tracking Secret Techniques. His ability to discover the Devouring Sky Clan lifeform was partly due to his formidable Divine Soul and partly due to the Fate Dao. Manifestations of Fate and the Way of Cause and Effect offer terrifyingly effective tracking results. In Chaos, all Life forms are ensnared by Fate and Cause; even a being like Ancestor Hong Jun cannot fully escape Fate.

While Jing Yan’s mastery of Fate Dao was deep, it had not yet reached Great Success. Nonetheless, on this continent, it was more than sufficient to track the Devouring Sky Clan lifeform.

"You’re not entirely useless after all. Since you hold a tracking technique, start tracking," Jin Kun said, looking at Jing Yan.

Jing Yan cast a glance at Jin Kun.

"I’ll take the lead then!" Jing Yan directly stated.

He had indeed already detected the presence of the Devouring Sky Clan lifeform.

The five of them turned into streaks of light, swiftly flying toward the depths of the continent.

A few hours later, a gigantic figure was sensed by Gu Mie and the others using their Divine Soul Power. Nearby, the material and energy fluctuations were more intense.

"We’ve found the Devouring Sky Clan lifeform, everyone be cautious," Gu Mie said, his voice serious.

"Haha, this is too easy, finding this Devouring Sky Clan creature so quickly. Killing it will mean we can return for our reward," Jin Kun said with a laugh.

They flew for another short while, and by then, the Devouring Sky Clan lifeform was visible to the naked eye.

This Devouring Sky Clan lifeform was in the midst of devouring matter. It was clear to see, energy, like a river, flowed into the mouth of that lifeform. As Jing Yan and the others appeared, the Devouring Sky Clan lifeform took notice of them.

Its massive scarlet eyes rolled, fixing on Jing Yan and the others as if assessing their strength.

Devouring Sky Clan lifeforms are notoriously sly. Born with the ability to devour everything, they possess unimaginable cravings for consuming matter, sometimes even to the point of risking their lives. However, when the disparity in power is too great, they won’t throw their lives away for nothing but will instead choose to flee.

This particular Devouring Sky Clan lifeform clearly sensed that Jing Yan and the others were overwhelmingly powerful, making it no match for them. So, it turned around and attempted to escape by employing its innate Void Shuttling ability.

"Trying to flee? Not that easily!" Gu Mie, with a flick of his arm, let layers of Tao Aura spread out, and threads of pattern appeared in the space.
