Chapter 776: The Devil Who Refused to Die
Chapter 776: The Devil Who Refused to Die
"Are you sure about this? Sending him alone against the Shadow Sect is reckless," Vayne said with a faint smile, as Amon shook his head.
"It's fine. Even though I hope that filthy creature dies, his skills are no joke. Even if he fails, he'll survive thanks to his abilities."
"Hmmm… I hope you're right," Vayne replied, prompting Amon to turn toward her.
"What's wrong, Vayne? It's not like you to interfere with my decisions."
Vayne was like a wild beast who did as she pleased. She had never once tried to interfere with the choices of those ranked above her, which made Amon curious.
But she soon shook her head.
"It's nothing. I just want to crush the Shadow Sect and their human followers as quickly as possible."
"There's no need to rush. I know you felt humiliated by your defeat at Fulghor's hands, but you'll get your chance for revenge sooner or later."
In response, Vayne nodded.
"Of course."
Her calm, curt reply made Amon stare at her for a moment before turning away.
"Prepare yourself. The final battle is near."
Amon left, while Vayne's smile widened.
"Yes… this time we'll put an end to everything. This time, I will obtain it for sure," Vayne murmured, her violet eyes glowing with a faint red light.
"Frey Starlight… you are the key."
She clenched her fist, gradually bringing her emotions under control.
Slowly, she closed her eyes, letting her body sink into the shadows.
Only a few seconds later, the scene shifted completely .. to another place, a dark and ominous realm.
Amid walls of shadow and cursed dark aura, the place resembled a spiritual world no one could reach.
At the center of all that darkness was Vayne.
Her body hung suspended, wrapped in shadowy tendrils that had become chains, binding her completely inside a dark cocoon.
Within that darkness, Vayne was helpless, her eyes closed, a bitter expression on her face—as if she had lost everything.
Before her stood another filthy demon, shrouded in blackness.
He stared at her for several long seconds, a vile smile spreading across his face.
A demon with three eyes, one of them a deep crimson .. the King's Eye.
It was Wesker.
He stifled a laugh before speaking.
"I'm truly sorry, my dear sister… sorry for making you my final test subject. But I had no choice—my body had reached its limit, and I had no way to survive."
Wesker reached out, touching his sister as she lay in a deep slumber.
"But I succeeded. And that's what matters."
The final step. The last piece that would allow him to achieve his goal.
"Gehrman completely surpassed me. That was the greatest humiliation of my existence…"
Darkness engulfed Wesker's body as he began to manipulate his new power.
"But I am still alive… which means the war is not over yet."
"I have been given a second chance—thanks to the power of Life and Death that I created myself!"
Despite his defeat at Gehrman's hands and how close he had come to death, Wesker was happy .. because he had finally succeeded in attaining his own world-breaking ability.
Until now, the King's Eye had been the only World-Breaking Ability in his arsenal, a gift he had received from the Demon King himself.
For countless years, Wesker had been working to create a power of his own—
a power that followed the Law of Life and Death.
It had all begun in the distant past, when Wesker realized that no matter how talented he was, no matter how terrifying his growth rate…
He would never reach the level of that perfect being.
The monster that had mesmerized him ..
The great Demon King, Agaroth.
With his innate level and overwhelming potential…
even Crimson was already something Wesker could never hope to reach, let alone Agaroth.
Wesker—the sadistic perfectionist who worshiped control—could not accept this.
But he had no path that could bring him to their level.
That changed the day a certain man appeared .. a warrior who could stand against the Demon King himself.
Nameless.
In that moment, a mad idea was born inside Wesker.
What if… somehow… he could obtain the body of a monster like Nameless?
Then his impossible ambition could become reality.
From the day Nameless first appeared, Wesker began developing a power that would allow him to take that warrior's body.
Despite his sadistic nature, torture was never his only purpose.
Yes, he enjoyed it—but more importantly…
Wesker was studying the Law of Life and Death.
Through every type of living being, every form of existence, he sought to understand it deeply enough to manipulate it.
But his ambition suffered a devastating blow when Nameless was killed by Agaroth.. before Wesker could complete his ability.
After Nameless's death, Wesker lost his direction for a time…
but he never stopped pursuing Life and Death.
At first, he even dared to consider making Agaroth himself his target ..
but he quickly abandoned that insane idea.
The Demon King already understood too much.
Making an enemy of him would be suicide.
So Wesker waited.
For years.
In silence.
Waiting for the right vessel .. a body through which he could achieve his ultimate goal.
Throughout the ages, countless powerful warriors were born.
Legends rose. Names were etched into history.
But none of them reached the level Wesker desired…
Until the day the King's Eye saw something impossible.
The day Frey Starlight was born.
A child whose fate was so twisted that even the one who created and wrote the universe…
even the being who had shaped the Demon King himself…
had bound Frey to it.
But what caught Wesker's attention most
was that Frey Starlight's destiny had become entangled with Nameless.
That alone made Wesker rush to Earth immediately .. even forcing his way through Kazis Valerion's seal at tremendous cost.
Later, after the battle with Gehrman and Abraham, Wesker learned the truth:
Frey Starlight was Nameless's perfect vessel.
A body that carried all of Nameless's latent potential.
And in that moment…
Hope returned to the Fourth High Demon.
That was why Wesker had watched Frey for all these years.
Why he allowed him to grow stronger.
Not to free the Demon King from his seal—
But to let Frey reach his peak.
So that, when the time came…
Wesker could claim him.
After countless years, he finally succeeded.
Life and Death ability .. Possession.
A power that allowed him to take another's body while retaining his own strength.
It was the result of decades of relentless research and experimentation by Wesker's twisted genius.
He had forged a weapon of absolute horror.
His Possession was so powerful that anyone without countermeasures ability or mastery over Life and Death could not resist it.
The ability also did not work on beings who had reached the final stage of SSS,
since that state itself was intertwined with Life and Death.
But aside from them…
Wesker could use his power freely.
He had already tested it—on Prince Aegon Valerion.
As for Vayne, she had not been part of the original plan…
But circumstances had forced his hand.
And his successful control over such a monstrous being only proved that his ability was now complete.
And the next target…
Was Frey Starlight.
The perfect vessel.
The body that would allow him to ascend to the level he had dreamed of all his life.
This was Wesker's ultimate goal—
the purpose behind everything he had done.
Once he achieved it…
Gehrman.
The Shadow Sect.
And anyone who dared to stand in his way…
All would be erased.
As Wesker's laughter echoed through the dark void,
before his sister Vayne, lost in oblivion…
The Fourth High Demon concealed himself .. Waiting for the perfect moment.
