Chapter 877: The End of an Era (3)
Though his answer remained frustratingly vague.
"I met someone. Someone stronger than me."
"I’ll simply say that I came because of him, and leave it at that."
"What kind of answer is that supposed to be?" Snow snapped.
The explanation sounded absurd enough to be a lie.
Who in their right mind would throw themselves into a war against the Demon King simply because someone told them to?
Yet Sieghart offered nothing more.
"Sieghart... would you mind if I asked a few questions regarding this person you just mentioned?" Frey asked, remaining perfectly calm.
Sieghart answered immediately.
"Ask whatever you like. Though I’ll refuse to answer if I dislike the question."
He at least agreed to give Frey that much, unwilling to let the atmosphere turn openly hostile.
"I only have three questions," Frey said quietly.
"First... you claimed he was stronger than you. But before meeting him, you had never seen or heard of him before. Am I wrong?"
In response, Sieghart shook his head.
"You’re not."
"Second... what kind of fighter is he? A swordsman? A wave manipulator?"
"I won’t answer that."
Sieghart rejected the second question outright.
Frey simply moved on to the third without the slightest annoyance.
"My third and final question... did he give you any guarantees?"
"A prophecy, perhaps... or something similar?"
For the very first time, hesitation appeared on Sieghart’s face.
A hesitation Frey immediately noticed, having observed every one of his reactions carefully.
In the end, Sieghart answered...
Both yes and no at once.
"He did something like that, yes. But half of what he said turned out to be wrong... while the other half was true."
"I see."
Frey nodded with a faint smile.
"I’ve heard enough. I no longer need to ask anything else."
"And as for the solution you proposed... I accept it."
The moment Frey received answers to those three questions, he immediately accepted Sieghart’s proposal, dispelling all suspicion surrounding him.
The sudden shift left everyone confused.
"Why do I feel like I was just manipulated somehow?" Sieghart muttered, wondering if he had accidentally revealed more than intended.
Yet none of Frey’s questions should have been enough to identify the mysterious person he spoke of.
Or at least...
That was what Sieghart believed.
"I’ll help you transport humanity to your homeland. Spatial manipulation happens to be one of my specialties," Frey even offered.
Sieghart nodded hesitantly.
As for Snow, he watched the exchange with lingering doubt.
"I think it’s too early to decide something this important."
Everything was happening far too quickly.
So quickly that even extraordinary people could barely keep up with it.
Deciding the fate of an entire race after a single conversation with a stranger who had not even spent a full day on Earth felt utterly surreal.
Yet Snow possessed no better alternative.
And with both Frey and the Great One of Earth supporting the proposal, it had already become almost official.
Most humans would likely accept it as well.
After all, the place they would be sent to was a homeland built by humans like themselves... descendants of one of their ancient heroes.
"The arrival of Earth’s humans in my homeland will greatly benefit them," Sieghart continued.
"Especially the talented ones who have never managed to unlock their true potential."
"We’ll teach them the true path of human training... and how to push their strength to its absolute limits."
The longer they discussed it, the more reasonable Sieghart’s proposal became.
It offered countless advantages with almost no visible drawbacks.
"I don’t think we have a better option than this," Frey admitted at last, fully convinced.
Both the Great One of Earth and Snow silently reached the same conclusion, unable to think of anything superior.
"And what about you, Snow?"
"What will you do from this point onward?"
Frey directed the question toward Snow, the young man carrying the bloodline of the Bearers of Light within him.
Following Sieghart would bring him little benefit now...
Because at this point, Snow could barely even be considered human anymore.
Snow remained silent for a moment before finally making the decision he had hesitated over for so long.
"I think it’s time... to meet my other half and return to the place where I truly belong."
He was speaking about the homeland of the Bearers of Light...
Duskreach.
"I’ve been curious about you for a while now... who exactly are you, Bearer of Light? I’ve never heard of anyone like you among your kind."
Sieghart asked, genuine curiosity surfacing in his voice as he looked toward Snow.
He appeared young, and his strength was impressive despite still being only at the beginning stages of the SSS Rank.
Snow did not answer.
Instead, Frey spoke on his behalf.
"The one standing before you is the First Bearer of Light, Pure Vessel himself... the owner of the Spirit of Light."
"What?!" Sieghart shouted in shock, his gaze darting repeatedly between Frey and Snow.
Snow immediately turned toward Frey with a frown.
"Why did you tell him?"
"There’s no point hiding it any longer. Sooner or later, the truth will spread regardless," Frey replied calmly, while Sieghart still struggled to process what he had just heard.
"The Bearer of Light... the one ranked first among the Seven Great Powers... impossible."
"Then why does he look this weak?!"
Sieghart blurted out the thought with complete bluntness, causing Snow to let out a long sigh.
"I’m still perfectly capable of defeating someone like you in my current state, just so you know."
"In that case, I’d be more than happy to duel you once everything is over, First Lord of Light."
And just like that, the two arranged a duel out of nowhere.
Meanwhile, each of them had already decided the path they would take moving forward.
Frey intended to rebuild the ancient Shadow Sect in pursuit of his own ambitions.
Snow had chosen to travel to Duskreach, homeland of the Bearers of Light, to reclaim the legacy he had spent so long running from.
As for the rest of humanity...
They would follow Sieghart to his homeland, where the New Humans, descendants of the ancient hero, now lived.
At the same time, the war between the Empire and the Ultras had finally entered its final stages.
With the aid of the Shadow Sect warriors Frey had sent to support them, combined with the presence of nearly all humanity’s strongest fighters and the absence of the demons’ upper powers...
The battle had devolved into nothing more than a one-sided massacre.
Victory had already been decided long ago.
"So this is the end... the end of everything we built upon this planet..."
Snow murmured while staring toward the distant horizon.
