The Villain's Story

Chapter 740: Daddy dearest is now dead.

Chapter 740: Daddy dearest is now dead.

The hiddle stone estate lay destroyed, as the storm up above intensified. Surprisingly enough, even though all of the estate was up in flames, the rain did nothing to stop it. They raged forth, heading towards the city unperturbed.

In the middle of the estate, surrounded by many, many mutilated bodies remained two individuals, one below the other’s feet.

"How?"

Lucas’s father muttered, his hands clenched around Lucas’s feet. Vicious claws and purple veins along with dark patches of skin littered his hands. Enhancing them, but destroying it in the process. Turning them into something... Else.

His face was married with wounds, each which was burned to crisp. An eye had been plucked out, and the rest of his body was covered in burns and compressed in places.

As if he had been punched by a truly deadly force. Above him, with his foot firmly planted in his fathers neck. The man’s desperate attempts to move it were futile.

Lucas was not Lucas. His eyes were glowing and lightning danced around his body that his father had to fight it off as well.

It was so excited, so vivid, and absolutely deadly.

"How.. HOW?!"

A green aura was always apparent around his body, like a small force field of incredible power, but as his Father’s struggle ceased. The glow in his eyes ceased as well.

Lucas had been forced to fight his Father in his Enlightened state, even then, he wasn’t that strong to completely overpower an old relic of the second generation of awakened.

He was missing a few fingers, not to mention the wounds on his body that had been cauterized and purified by the lightning, and also the nauseous feeling.

Fighting a chaos user as a non chaos user was always a problem. The chaos energy would randomly curse his body and it was hard to fight for prolonged periods.

The various items he had also helped massively in this fight, but he would need new gauntlets. That much was apparent by how his current ones had fallen apart, chaos energy breaking them down.

"Meh, I don’t know. Honestly, I thought I’d lose."

He had hought he couldn’t defeat his father at all, but Enlightenment was a card that defeated expectations all the time. Though the toll was immense.

His bloodline had played an important role as well. It was the only reason the rampant chaos energy hadn’t eaten him from the inside. Lucas took a deep breath, as he pressed his foot down further.

"Why’d you sign it?"

He looked around at all the dead bodies, his brothers, sisters, and other members of the family all dead by his hand. He didn’t really feel anything.

He hardly knew any of them.

His father ceased all his struggles, and his body slowly turned back into a human, if he could even be considered a human originally.

"This planet is doomed."

Lucas raised his brows, and the lightning around him gradually disappeared. He was tired, immensely so.

"We aren’t even able to reclaim our lost territory, to dungeons! Half this damned planet lays covered in monsters. Monsters that constantly besiege our borders with immense numbers, an endless fucking tide.

And does the populace know? Fuck yes, do they do something about it? Fuck no! Everyday, as more awakened are produced, guilds jump at them and take them, they coddle the bastards and let them hunt in so called defeated dungeons...

We fought like fucking rats, the first generation and the second, even the third had some notable things about it... And yet this one, the fourth, lives like kings in a world that isn’t even theirs anymore."

His father took a deep breath, straining himself to not cough up blood, but it seeped up anyways. Dark, malignant, and rotten blood.

"We can’t do shit against monsters, what are we going to do against the demons? When they come with their full might? When the Martial Star is finally able to descend on this world?"

"Ragnar, Arken, Oliver, Kyrie, Yousuf, Aman, Harrison, Micheal, The heroes of the first and the second generation you all revere...

In front of him, in front of that being, they will fall like flies! We can’t...

We can’t against an epic. Our world, this damned species was doomed from the start. If we had an epic of our own... Nah. "

At the end of his own words, a deranged laughter ensued. Lucas silently listened as his father descended into a maniacal laughter, giving not a single damn about his current condition.

Even as his wounds opened up again, as they began to leak out blood the maniacal laughter did not stop.

"Even if we had an epic of our own, we couldn’t go against that! AHAHA."

His rotten blood seeped into the ground, the putrid flesh of his destroyed eye jumped up and dropped down his face, painting a gruesome sight.

"Even Morgana wags her tail like a loyal bitch in front of him! We can’t do shit to that being... We are helpless."

Lucas sighed, and slowly took in all the information with his desperate attempt of a calm mind.

’Ragnar is already epic, but...’

He was privy to some exclusive information being the sword saints disciple, mainly because Arken couldn’t keep his mouth shut and talked about almost everything. His father was unaware that humanity did have an epic being in their ranks.

But the absolute loss of hope in his fathers voice irritated him.

"Why’d you sign it?"

He reiterated his words, and the bout of maniacal laughter came to a stop, his father looked at him as his hands dropped to the ground.

"You didn’t even advance a rank after signing it, you spoke of power so, so much.

So tell me, why’d you sign the damn thing?"

His father didn’t answer for a moment. The storm had finally put the fire to rest, and when the last ember was extinguished by the barrage from above, he spoke.

"Because there are only two choices, Either side, or live as a slave."

Lucas laughed.

"You chose being a slave over dying?"

His father rebuked.

"I chose to live with a collar on my neck than die for a useless cause."

And then, the blood that had seeped into the ground rose up like throned tendrils. His father moved as well, attempting to sever his leg but before it could all happen.

He crushed the man’s neck.

Miguel Hiddlestone died, helpless before his own son, who killed him with slight annoyance in his eyes. Lucas didn’t feel anything at all this.

It wasn’t a sign that he was turning into a heartless bastard, a monster that didn’t care. But simply because he killed those who were like that. He took a deep sigh as a car slowly parked into the driveway, or whatever remained of it. It was a different one that his family used.

From it, a man in a suit emerged, one of his eyes was odd, Lucas didn’t know how, or why, but he felt it to be... Fake.

Lucas stared at the man with a tired gaze, he honestly didn’t think he could fight anymore. As if sensing his concerns, the man raised both his hands up and stated.

"I’ve been sent by the association, I mean no harm."

Lucas didn’t let go of his apprehension. He was simply engrossed in thought.

’As I expected, the association did know of the Hiddle Stone’s betrayal.’

The man continued to speak.

"This eye of mine is a camera of sorts, along with many other things.

The director is watching."

"Is that supposed to be a threat?"

"No, just a heads up."

So Harrison was watching all of this? That busy man made time for all of this?

... Why?

"The director is pleased you did not succumb to the chaotic forces. He wants to ask if you have anything in mind that you want. A reward."

Lucas asked a question.

"What were you gonna do if I also signed the contract?"

The man remained silent, as Lucas, surrounded by his family’s corpses gave him a hard glare. He wasn’t showing animosity, he was genuinely curious.

This was how he usually was.

The man gave the surroundings a good look, observing everything.

"We didn’t think you would become one at all, obviously. You are one of the students of the sword saint. But there was always a chance, considering your history, and even the present.

Had you actually signed the contract, we would have been disappointed. But you have not."

Lucas remained silent, waiting for the man to complete his words. He had yet to answer his question. Simply beating around the bush wouldn’t satisfy Lucas. The man looked at the surroundings once more and gave him a subtle smirk.

He relaxed his shoulders, and the smirk on his face widened into a smile.

"On the occasion you had signed the contract and became a demonic human.

I would have simply buried you along with them."
