The Villain's Story

Chapter 755: Forbidden Castle.

Chapter 755: Forbidden Castle.

When I found myself free from that oppressive darkness, The sight in front of me was different than I remembered.

The sea of corpses was gone, the blood-red ground, the bloody skies and the seven bloody moons were all gone. Instead, I was in a verdant forest, surrounded by vegetation of all sorts...

Underneath a picture perfect night sky, full of stars, a beautiful scene, But it was the least of my concerns. The quest had been automatically accepted, and he had received a vision right after.

The memories of Liorathen, The Phoenix, The one whose bloodline he currently possessed. A portion of her memories, in a dark abyss, meeting... him.

Where was she? What sin did she want to atone for? What did she mean by three? What bloodshed was she referring to? The one Aranus caused?

So many questions, his eyes widened. But he did not focus on anything but one.

’Why did she meet James? What deal...?’

"Alan?"

’What deal? What deal?’

"Alan???"

What did they talk about? Why did he have this bloodline? It was so fishy, Suleras gave it to him, how did he even acquire the bloodline of a Primordial being? That of the species that equal to the dragons? Those that didn’t have a cordial relation with them as well?

The God beasts would never give it to a dragon... so how? Unless it was the will of the Phoenix herself... So, was it? Did Suleras also make a deal with James? Or was he also being fooled?

So many, so many doubts surfacing in his mind. He didn’t notice someone stepping on his foot with all her might. Of course, it wouldn’t make him feel anything.

He was focused on the memories he just received, and the contents of the quest. There was nothing on his mind.

Until.

[ALAN PECCATOR?!?!?!]

A loud voice in his mind broke his thoughts, Sabrina broke him out of his confused state and brought him back to the world.

He looked down to see her staring up at him, with a scowl on her face, her arms tucked and her foot on his. She was pressing down on it hard. He didn’t feel anything though, perhaps it was because she wasn’t wearing heels.

"How long was I out for?"

He asked, looking at the surrounding forest.

"Half a damn minute!"

"Huh..."

The memory certainly felt longer, more like ten minutes or so, or even more. He couldn’t accurately tell time in that place. Forgetting that...

"Where are we?"

This wasn’t where they were before. It wasn’t even remotely close. The smell of blood was still there, but everything else was different.

"The surroundings changed when the corpse of the god beast disappeared. What happened?"

"..."

He refused to tell her anything at the moment, he himself didn’t know much, and everything was a mystery at this point. He just shook his head.

Sabrina clearly knew he was hiding something, but didn’t pry further. Although there was still a disgruntled look on her face.

"The necklace is pointing inside."

"Inside?"

Alan looked at where she was pointing, and realized what she meant.

A castle, bigger than the Jade Palace itself, lay in front of them, only a few hundred meters ahead. Alan wondered why he hadn’t noticed it at all. Even now, he was having difficulty perceiving it.

No wonder he hadn’t noticed it before. There was clearly some magic on the entire castle. It was weird.

Pure black, obsidian like walls with no openings whatsoever, but a pearly white gate torn in half, leading into a ruined, thorny courtyard.

A garden with no master, thorns and weeds riddled the garden, all bloodred. The smell of blood got thicker as Alan tried to peer into the castle.

But he was stopped, he would have to get closer to see further. Alan noticed the spatial field had gotten weaker, but it would still be impossible to open a portal.

The corpse of the god beast definitely had something to do with it, however, he would need to weaken it further to be free. Slowly, they approached the castle under the moonlit sky, apprehensive.

As they got closer, Alan noticed things changing. The walls seemed to have rust on them, were destroyed at particular points like something drilled into them. From far away... the castle was pristine.

But as he got closer, he realized everything was a fake. The castle, the pristine castle... was merely an illusion.

It got worse as they got closer, Surprisingly, Sabrina didn’t have the same issue as him. She saw the castle it is, ruined and beyond repair.

The spires were destroyed, the grandiose of this beautiful castle was... gone. As if a brutal war, a siege incomparable, had laid waste to it. Or something so powerful had destroyed it in a fit of rage.

’Mine’s still better.’

Well, even if it was restored, it would never come close to the majestic sight that was his castle. The Jade Palace was unparalleled! Though it did lack forces...

He really had to increase the amount of troops in the castle, he really had to get his hands on anything that could be of value. Wouldn’t it be great to have an entire army around you?

"Hehehehe..."

"Why are you laughing like that?"

"Nothing..."

They passed through the gate, and the garden was in an even worse state than what Alan had seen. There were craters everywhere, not a single flower in the side, and weapons filled with rust embedded in the ground, Swords, Axes, and daggers.

They passed through what remained of the inner gate, the walls beside it were nowhere to be seen, merely rotting pillars with nothing to their sides.

’The method of destruction is really odd.’

If this was a siege, or even if a single person had done this, the amount of destruction was really impractical, He didn’t understand it.

The castle was within reach, and surprisingly, the gate was still there, slightly open and exuding a disgusting smell. The castle was somehow... in good condition, The outer and inner walls were a deep contrast.

Alan was still unsure if it was an illusion or not, so he used Dragon Eyes to confirm the castle’s real identity.

There... was no illusion.

Only the heavy stench of blood.
