Chapter 765: The pain of perfection. (2).
"I can’t believe I had such a stupid fear. Ironic, at this point."
The other me cast numerous spells on me, easing the tension in my mind, and calming me down. I constantly scanned my own body just to see if she had done anything to me.
But I could find nothing, whatever she had cast really was helpful, or at a level far above me to know if it was harmful or not.
"I guess, I should start from the beginning, or should I explain some things first?"
A tape made out of mana covered my mouth, rendering me unable to speak. It was the right timing, I was almost about to say something. The other, me, really didn’t like someone interrupting her speech.
"Have you ever felt anything odd? Out of place, something you forgot about?"
I raised my brows, clearly questioning where this was going. I hope I don’t have to listen to some crazy chatter... If what she said prior to this is true, then I fear I’ve gone insane.
"Nothing comes to mind? Huh, Not a prodigy yet."
"..."
Was she insulting me? Disappointed? Or simply accepting something? I couldn’t figure it out, however, it really felt like an insult.
Do I talk like that to everybody?
"Something’s happening on a universal scale. Something I can’t pinpoint, but something that made itself apparent a few... iterations ago. Something... incredible, yet depressing.
Time, of the entire universe, everything, is being reset. Not just once, Not twice, hell, maybe even hundreds of times. I’ve only been aware for a few, But something of that scale is definitely happening."
"..."
"I know, I know it sounds crazy, but trust me... This is real. Time, is actually being reversed, purposefully... But for what? Why? How? On a universal scale! It’s... scary to think about."
’Yeah, I’ve gone batshit crazy.’
Why am I not surprised? Though I still have some doubts if this really is me from... the future or whatever, I’m pretty certain this one is purely insane. I heard all mages go insane at one point in time, but wow.
Seeing it a person, and to me, is really, really depressing.
"As I began to become aware, I found out that I wasn’t alone, special beings, those that are famous all throughout, the prodigies were beginning to realize that some truth was being hidden.
The dragons, and the God beasts, Those two are hiding something, or preventing something... But what? Why? I couldn’t figure it out, neither could the circle.
Our minds were a mess, hallucinations of a black fog, calamity, a feeling of safety, white light, A pure sword and a dark spear. Our talents did not help us, our legacies... were useless to this degradation of our minds.
When we brought ourselves together, when we, the brightest of the Alliance, came forth... We were stumped. A hundred of ourselves, each the same, living in the future, past, present, colliding thoughts against thoughts as we believed we were cursed.
A vision of the future, from a number of futures, a reaction from us, a reaction from so many of us, the same being in other, present timelines.
It was so, odd. Even more so, for me."
The other me continued, as I finally began to take an interest in her rambling, maybe because the Alliance had been mentioned.
The group formed to fight against the Abyss, and hold their ground against the Celestial realms... that is what father told me the Alliance was. The elves, The Dwarves, the Orcs, Naga’s, The gnomes, the trolls, every civilized race that had enough merit, and brought worth to the Alliance.
Originally created just to fend off the forces of the Abyss. It had evolved into many things now, but at it’s core, it was still an elite fighting force to defeat the demons of the Abyss.
Unfortunately, Humanity had not yet earned the right to be a formal part of the Alliance. The mention of the Alliance finally caught her attention.
"We searched our Archives, for anything, anything we could gain about this situation, where our minds were a mess and in a continuous struggle with our memories... But we couldn’t find much.
Only two things. The Dark Spear, and The White Sword. Vorfir and Caliburn. One lies at the heart of the infamous fourth layer, and one at the highest peak of the celestial realms. But really...
These two were useless. All the information about them that we had amounted to rumors about their origins, their effects on the area they were in, and their names. Nothing else... but soon, we came to a conclusion.
These weapons aren’t important. They are insignificant. They aren’t the reason why time is being reversed."
She stopped for a moment, taking a faint breath before continuing, the ’crazy’ in her eyes intensified, really, really putting me on edge.
"What was it? I tried to see, with my staff, The greatest seers we had tried to see. But all we saw was a black fog, a plague unlike any other, suffering we could not bear and a wrath that ate us as we tried.
We were so obsessed with it... that eventually, the ones that descended from Supremes, or had relations to them were told to not bother with it. Forbidden, then, we realized."
Her voice turned grave.
"The Supreme beings, of course, they were aware of this... So why do nothing? No amount of information was spilled? As time passed, as more... iterations went by, we realized something.
The Supremes were actively involved within it, and with every iteration that went by each of them, every oneof them went through a change."
She staggered for a moment, clutching her head and lashing out.
"A SUPREME! Do you have any idea what a Supreme even is? That dragon outside is nothing to one, hell, you could put all the Abyss, all of Celestia, and All the Alliance together, and you would not even have a chance of defeating a Supreme.
Everyone in the entire universe below the level of divine, An endless amount of Epic beings, an endless amount of Legendarily behemoths, and an Endless amount of Mythical powerhouses could join forces, and yet...
They would not be able to deal with a supreme.
Only Supremacy can hope to challenge Supremacy. But even these beings, the absolute known peak of power, changed as the iterations went by. As we went insane due to the countless... oddities.
They became the complete opposite of a supreme."
’Supreme... Like Alan’s mother?’
"An unmatched dedication, a fearless attitude, pride that was well deserved, and an amount of patience one could not fathom, and a talent incomparable. All of these, the hallmarks of a supreme being... faltered.
We saw them grow tired, we saw them indulge in useless activities, we saw them forgo their duties... The judges of the universe, the reason everything was in balance... disappeared overnight.
Lucifer stopped regulating the abyss, choosing to spend time doing whatever he wanted, something that most demons thought was impossible for him, and as a result, the Abyssal demons grew mad, they went insane with plundering... Normally another supreme would intervene, but none of them gave a fuck.
Even the Overgod stopped his duties to the Celestial Realm, and Celestia itself began to fall apart. He spent his time guarding a damn coffin, and forgot himself in the arts. Pride forgot himself, and the Pinnacle of the heavenly throne simply gave up. The rulers of the Abyss, and The Celestial realm... became idiots who chased whatever pleased them.
The Supreme Dragons, The Supreme God beasts, were no different... They began to do things we could never even think they would start doing... The dragon out there is a prime example.
House Shivalkulan never produced an heir, I would know. Never, Valus, Kulak, and Lanesha never had a child... But this time, Lanesha did. Lanesha started to have a child, why? Why would the house of death be interested in birthing an heir?
Dragons love to see their children grow, in the numerous ways they could march their creativity... they consider it an escape, watching their children... From whatever troubles them."
I stayed silent, watching her lose her mind... and parts of her body. The being in front of me was starting to vanish.
A trick to deceive me? Or something else?
"The Supreme Monarchs forgot themselves, and that is why the current state of everything is chaos."
She laughed, a crazy laugh, as if she was having trouble expecting reality.
"My perfect memory, which gave me an edge over the other prodigies as we all went insane... faltered in only one instance.
The moment where whatever it was that was causing the time change emerged. My memories from then... disappeared. A day in the future I could recall perfectly... until 5:55. After that damn time... I could know nothing.
I know I lived after that, I know I spent time doing whatever the fuck I was doing after... But I can’t recall it. NOT A SINGLE DAMN THING."
I... slid back, afraid. She was losing her mind, ripping her hair out and frothing at the mouth... That terrified me.
She was crazy, going even more insane by the minute.
"I wish to know... only two things. You hear me?"
