Chapter 842: The knowledge within the Darkness (2).
The central branch of the Church of Blinding Darkness had many facilities, and although the biggest may have been the main hall where believers offered their prayers to Valus, there were other important places as well.
After all, it was an organization spanning multiple worlds and playing an important role in the universe. One of these facilities was the library, where all the knowledge they had collected was stored.
This institution was divided into six levels. The first two were available to the public. Anyone who had the ability to enter the World of Darkness by being chosen was able to enter. These two layers alone held enough books that all the libraries of Earth looked like a big joke.
A man could spend a hundred years reading here and still not even scratch the surface. Only a dragon or a person with special skills could hope to contain all the knowledge present in the first two layers.
Navigating these two layers was surprisingly easy. The Church had made proper accommodations. Instead of traversing kilometers upon kilometers worth of distance to find what you were looking for, you could simply put in a request at the terminal, and voila! A portal would open up, which would deliver the piece of information you needed.
Whether it was a hundred books or merely a simple page, it was done instantly. However, the first two layers held little to no value for Sabrina; she was just interested in the use of spatial magic here.
Her domain already possessed the entire two layers; whatever was present here was present within her domain as well. This was the same with the third and fourth layers. ’Almada ’had made it her mission to stock as much as she could, and it showed.
Although she still couldn’t hope to actually absorb all of that even with her photographic memory, it was still a major benefit. At the very least, she wouldn’t have to ask Alan to make a portal for her whenever she needed to read something.
Furthermore, she wouldn’t have to endure the lack of sound at all. Reading a book definitely did help, but there was something else that actually made her able to endure the effects of this world.
She wasn’t insane enough to do it like Alexander, who followed in the footsteps of Alan and made pain be his way through the silence, nor was she doing it the same way Alice, Olivia, and Edward were doing it, to take short but manageable trips.
Rather, she had her own measure to deal with the silence, and that was thirst. The first instance of this thirst had appeared back when she was still on the platform on Lanekia, when Alan and the rest of the boys were in the Realm of Shadows, but at that time, she had merely presumed she was thirsty for water.
But this thirst wasn’t for water but rather blood. Alpha had informed her about this and urged her to drink blood once more, but Sabrina wasn’t really up to the task. The race of a Royal Vampire had basically been thrown at her. She didn’t wish for it to happen.
This ’thirst’ of hers for blood had slowly been increasing since it first occurred, and it had reached a point where it allowed her to ignore the effects of this world somewhat. However, it hadn’t reached a critical level yet.
That was how she was able to spend the longest amount of time outside the mansion. Whenever she felt it was too much, she would just hop back inside her domain and leave when she was ready again.
The library of the central church was of great interest to her; after all, she was a damn bookworm. She craved all kinds of ancient knowledge, especially the kind she would never find on Earth.
The first two layers were open to everyone who had the right to come to this world. She didn’t need an identification medallion to enter; however, the third and fourth did.
The one Maxwell had given her had let her advance to the fourth layer. The third was provided access to the middle-ranking members of the church, whilst the fourth was exclusive only to the highest. She was surprised at first as well when she realized she was also granted access here.
However, it was still for nothing, because there wasn’t anything new in the first four layers. ’Almada’ had already been here and had copied the entirety of their knowledge into the domain.
But something had indeed happened when she arrived at the fourth layer. Her domain had reacted to the gate of the fifth. Unfortunately, the fourth was the limit of her identification medallion.
But the reaction of her domain had only intensified, leading her to Alan’s medallion. It was as if it was pointing at the key.
She had grabbed it from Maxwell but was doubtful if it would work. The system here was already so advanced, there was no way Alan’s medallion would work. After all, it was probably spiritually bonded to Alan, and if someone else used it, it wouldn’t work.
Most likely. There was magic of an unfathomably high-level cast on the medallions, so much so that she had no chance of analyzing them.
If that was the case, all she needed to do was bring him here to get to the fifth layer. With a heavy sigh, Sabrina showed Alan’s medallion towards the sensor to the side of the fifth gate, and to her glee.
The gate opened, leading to an elevator. Surprisingly, there wasn’t a portal on the other side like with all the others. Sabrina smiled, pocketing the medallion, and entered the elevator.
The door closed, and the elevator began to move down. However, she had expected to be brought to a room with new knowledge that even her domain didn’t possess.
Instead, when the door opened, she was detained.
’Yeah... I should have expected this. I didn’t use my medallion after all.’
This would be a trouble to explain.
