Chapter 846: To Kill the Endless.
Chapter 846: To Kill the Endless.
The Weave is a gigantic construct that determines the actions of everyone, their future choices are all defined by the Weave and led by it. Conversely, the weave is also a record of every existence to ever be.
From the very first to the very last, if there is a last. Everything is held within the Weave, their life and death, however, when a being reaches the stage of ’Mythic’, a complete harmony between their physical form, their mental form, and their soul. Something shifts in the Weave.
The Weave, then regards this individual with some importance. It gifts them with a sort of immortality. Anyone who has reached that stage will never die of old age, however, what about being killed?
It doesn’t work, to put it simply. Their existence is simply regarded as too important to lose, therefore, they can be labeled as an Endless Being, they who cannot die no matter what.
However, this feature is not all-powerful. Mythical and above beings can be killed. You could reduce every part of their body to ash, to atoms even... But this effort would be ultimately useless, because no matter what.
They could come back. As long as their existence is untouched, they are safe, so to say. When a mythical being is killed, the Weave begins to move, like gears in a machine.
It actively helps a mythical being come back to life in the universe, whether it be repairing a soul, mind or body. It does it to ensure the mythical being has not been ended. Of course, such a process proceeds in many ways.
It could take years upon years to reconstruct the being, however, another way the ’Weave’ could perform this is simply reincarnate the being from the very beginning. Death is a foreign concept to all that are mythical and above.
That was, until Ariel had lost it, according to her. She didn’t elaborate much on the time this had occurred but merely stated she introduced an end.
An actual death, a true death, where mythical existences and above were no longer endless. This ’Death’ was an authority crafted by Ariel that directly intervened with the Weave to change the existence of a being, transforming them into something else.
Their existence still remained, but in a different form. It was the death of endless being, a transformation of their existence into something else, something with a defined form and limits.
However, even this form of death had limits. The chance to come back increased with every increase of power. Unless Ariel herself acted to enforce it, the authority held less power over the Divine, Supreme, and Primordial. It still held quite a bit of force against the divine, but the power, unless wielded by someone even the Weave regarded as special, it could turn out to be extremely useful even against supreme existences.
It was a fearsome power that made Ariel and her house stand at the very top. Frankly put, nobody wanted to mess with them, unless it was against their will. But as time went on and lower existences started to be born, those that could die for real and never come back unless they reached the Mythical Level, this power, or rather, this authority came to be known as Death.
There were many kinds of ’Death’, but the main and actual ’Death’ became a power that was rarely used after a certain period of time. ’Death’ altered the existence of a being from the Weave, while on the other hand, ’Lapsus’ ripped the existence out of the Weave and destroyed it to the core.
There were more specifics involved and an amount of history that Alan would find difficult to understand, but that was the gist of it.
On the wall were all the ’bigshots’ of a time long gone, those that Ariel, or her reaper, had killed. But other than those, Alan had a hunch that even some of the artifacts on the pedestal were some powerful beings.
They may not have been those that Ariel or Azmakul ended, but perhaps they were the victims of Valus, Kulak, Lanesha, or the other dragons of the House. Nevertheless, he had no intention of going near them.
He was interested in one thing, however, and that was the relationship Ariel and her house had with the Phoenix, Liorathen.
He had received her bloodline from a quest from Suleras, upon completing it, he had been bestowed with one of the most powerful abilities in his arsenal, Hyper Regeneration.
The ability to restore a lost limb in under a second, if Aura was used as fuel for the ability, but even with mana as the fuel, it was a broken power. He had been unable to use the other abilities of his bloodline, but he didn’t mind it due to the sheer power of Hyper Regeneration.
[She was a friend. One of the few I didn’t hate.]
That was how Ariel had responded to his question, where he asked about the Phoenix and her, informing her of what he had seen in his dreams. He had also informed her of the fight between Aranus and Valus, but he had received nothing on that.
Alan walked deeper into the dark halls, meanwhile, Ariel continued to whisper in his mind.
[We were all against each other a lot back in my day, She... tried to put a stop to it. Liorathen is a friend of all, even my enemies. Everyone respects and holds love for her.]
He listened quietly, navigating his way through the artifacts. The sixth layer truly didn’t hold any piece of parchment, as far as Alan could see.
It was just full of artifacts and, surprisingly, paintings, although these were covered with a special darkness. He had to use [Dragon Eyes] to see through it, and even then, he could only do it one at a time.
’He covered the paintings, but not the artifacts?’
His interest was piqued, and Alan observed the closest one to him.
