The Villain's Story

Chapter 909: Spatial Magic.

Chapter 909: Spatial Magic.

‘What happened?’

Patrick thought to himself, at a loss. He was still in the same stance, but was suddenly a full meter away from the platform. Nothing had changed except his position.

‘Spatial magic? But how?’

Wasn’t Spatial magic simply portals? He hadn’t noticed going through any portal. Furthermore, while Patrick was aware that his sense of mana wasn’t as toned as Alan Peccator’s, it shouldn’t be this bad… Should it? He should have sensed something, at the very least.

But there was nothing, no fluctuation in the surrounding mana, not even his own. He hadn’t even felt Alan Peccator use even a sliver of mana! Patrick looked at the platform, at the giant sitting in the middle of it, his chin resting on his hand, with an amused expression on his face.

“The loser is he who falls out of bounds, right?”

Alan repeated, wanting a response from the dazed Patrick.

“…”

Speechless for a while, the boy gathered his bearings and asked.

“May I have a rematch?”

Alan nodded, but made no attempt to stand up. Patrick didn’t mind and stepped on the platform once more, and took his stance.

This time, he consciously let his mana out, keeping it erratic, disoriented, in order to stop any form of spatial magic.

He had heard that spatial magic was incredibly weak to disturbances in mana. That was also why Sir Oliver had made ajautments to the barrier around Shield, to prevent any random portals from appearing.

However, this did nothing, and as soon as the student acting as a judge signalled for the match to start, Patrick found himself in the same spot, a meter away from the platform. The adversary was still sitting in the same position, at the same place, a mocking smile apparent on his face.

Patrick grew frustrated. Not because it wasn’t the kind of fight he had expected, but simply because he couldn’t figure out how his position was being changed.

The root of his frustration stemmed from the fact that he had no clue how he was losing, not at the ability or manner used to defeat him. After all, it was still a fair fight.

Using all manners of abilities and exploiting the rules to win were allowed. The method Alan was using was similar as to how a student with an affinity for wind for simply push his opponent away from the platform by casting strong wind.

Only, there was no damn wind, nor even a damn sign of anything happening.

Patrick let go of his sword, letting it drop to the ground with a clanging sound as he asked.

“How?”

Alan clapped his hands on the platform, as if eager to explain. He said.

“Simple, I manipulated space around you to change your position the first time.”

Raising his brows, Patrick asked.

“And what of the second time?”

Alan’s words caught him off guard, it meant he used two methods to change his position. However, Patrick was slightly glad he learned of it, for it meant that his precaution weren’t for naught.

At least he hadn’t wasted his mana!

“I manipulated reality to change your position.”

“What?”

“What?”

The first belonged to Patrick, the second belonged to the student overseeing the match, both of them looked at Alan, who just smirked.

“Yup, reality manipulation, neat trick, am I right?”

“You can do that?”

The student presiding as a Judge asked, his expression marred with disbelief. He didn’t think such a thing was possible.

“To a certain extent.”

The student remained silent, unwilling to believe it.

“So it wasn’t illusion magic…”

Patrick muttered to himself, lost in thought. Alan, with his enhanced senses heard it and responded.

“Technically, Illusion magic can be considered Reality Manipulation if your at a high enough level.”

He appeared to be stroking an imaginary beard as he said this, acting like a sage well versed in all types of magic.

It was true to a certain extent, as a dragon, he was well versed in all kinds of magic…

Even the one’s he had no idea about.

Ignoring his respond, Patrick inquired.

“How does one learn this? Is it related to the spatial affinity?”

“Not really, although having it can help a lot. As for how I learned it, I basically had the shit beaten out of me for a few months.”

Hearing this, a beaming smile appeared on Patrick’s face.

“Can I apply?”

“…”

Speechless, Alan stared at the boy for a while. In Patrick’s eyes, getting beaten for a few months was nothing if he gained Reality Manipulation magic in return. He would do it even if the time period was many years.

But then again, he probably thought it was someone on Earth, an old sage who could teach it. Should Alan tell him a Supreme Being taught him that?

Actually, that might just make him want more of it.

“It’s a race specific thing, like bloodline abilities.”

“Unfortunate… Thank you for the spar.”

He sighed, and left the gymniums promptly, leaving Alan shocked, and speechless once more.

Dazed, he turned to the student acting a judge, and complained.

“He’s gonna leave, just like that? No more rematches?”

The student simply shrugged his shoulders, unaware of what to say.

Alan poured.

“Oh come on! I wanted to show off a bit.”

The student looked at him weirdly, but Alan ignored it. He conjured a portal behind him, on the floor of the platform and fell into it, backwards.

He disappeared from the gymnaiusm.

“That’s such an envious ability…”

He said, seething with jealousy upon seeing Alan teleport. Sadly, he had to ‘walk’ back on his own.

Meanwhile, Alan had teleported to the Cafeteria, and after eating his fill, he contemplated about where to go.

[Hello? You there?]

There was no response from the Astral Bond, so Alan assumed Sabrina was still asleep, resisting he urge to teleport into her room, he thought about going to Twilight.

Immediately afterwards, his nose caught a familiar scent. It was the same brand of shampoo Sabrina used… He turned to look in that direction, only to find a somewhat similar looking girl staring daggers at him.

Alan gulped.

‘Catherine…’

It was Sabrina’s niece, who had a strange and extreme obsession with her. Immediately, he ‘dipped’, opening a portal and leaving.

Appearing back in Twilight, Alan was surprised to see the headquarters so empty, luckily, Richard was still present, in his office dealing with a stack of papers.

“Your back?”

Richard asked, still immersed in his work. Alan didn’t mind it, and jumped onto the sofa and responded.

“In the flesh! Also, where is everybody? Never seen this place so empty before.

Did we fall out of the rankings or what?”

Richard raised his head from the stack of papers, a dubious expression on his face as he asked.

“You don’t know?”

Confused, Alan said.

“No?”

Why would he know about what happened? He’s been gone for months!

“… You really don’t know?”

“No?! Now can you tell me?”

Richard rubbed his eyes, and sighed. He explained.

“A week after you left, all official members of Twilight received a question, coming from the Supreme Being of Frost, Lanesha. Uhh, your dragon mother. It was at the same time the Association renewed the guild contribution system.

The quest basically wanted us to gain more contribution points, more than ‘Titan’ specifically. It gives handsome rewards to members who gain contribution points and raise the guilds standing. As a result, almost everybody is out in dungeons or completing missions.

Titan also received the same question, but by The Supreme Being of Gold, his name is unknown at the moment.

As a result, Twilight rose to rank 2, leaving Behemoth behind in the dust.”

He chuckled.

“Ah, you should have seen the look on Logan’s face. It was priceless. Twilight and Titan are currently in a competition, with Titan in a slight lead. Since the request came from..

Her Excellency, I thought you had a hand in it.”

Alan shook his head. Seeing this, Richard was shocked.

“Huh. This is a big matter being discussed in the entire world right now… I really thought you had to something to do with it.”

Alan rolled his eyes, and said.

“Let me ask her.”

[Supreme Dragon of Frost, Lanesha, comments that it is a simple bet with a greedy goat. The one who backs Titan. She is also disappointed that Twilight is falling behind.]

He recounted to Richard, who had a grave expression appear on his face.

He stood up from his desk, and took out three boxes from beneath his, placing them at the table in front of Alan.

“These are full of rings made of the best materials. The supply of spatial rings has long since run dry, and people want more. All of these should be made into spatial rings when I come back.”

He ordered.

“WHY DO YOU KEEP THREE BOXES OF RINGS WITH YOU?!”

“Because your prone to popping up without notice and leaving in a hurry. Those portals of yours are handy.

Also, check up on Alice in the lab and see if she is eating well, I’m off to grind contribution points.

I don’t want to get on the bad side of a Supreme being.”

He said, leaving Alan in shock.

He knew he shouldn’t have come to Twilight! There was only work to do here.

[Supreme Dragon of Frost, Lanesha, laughs.]
