Chapter 921: Conference(3).
Alan turned to look at his left, spotting the ‘enigmatic’ and charming leader of Titan. It was like he was a sculpture made by a deity. He had short, flawless gold hair. Not golden, but literal gold. Alan confirmed it with [Dragon Eyes]; his hair was literally made of gold, imbued with certain magic spells or artifacts to achieve the effect of hair. His eyes were the same; it was as if he were staring at two golden nuggets.
The strange infatuation with gold and the ‘accessories’ somehow accentuated his charm in a way Alan couldn’t comprehend. It was confusing and alluring at the same time. Alan was certain his charm stat was at least SSS-rank.
Daniel Park was the leader of Titan, the strongest guild on all of Earth. He was a man standing at an impressive height of six feet four inches and had a lean build. He was the man who had broken through the ranks of ascension at record speed, that was, until Alan and Ezra appeared.
He was the strongest guild leader, the only one at the rank of SSS. One of the actual superpowers of the world. Besides this, courtesy of Maxwell, Alan knew that this man had a Unique skill, by the name of [Midas’s Rules of Exchange.]
Alan decided to simply call it [Midas]. He was unaware of what the Unique skill did, but knew of its most basic function, which was similar to what [Dragon Eyes] did at the basic level: tell everything about the target. Although the exact manner was ambiguous, Alan had been warned by Maxwell to avoid physical contact.
And if he were to come into contact, he was directed to always cover himself with a sturdy coating of mana. Maxwell had told him many things about his ‘hated’ father.
Daniel Park extended his hand, and Alan smiled slightly and did the same. His body was always covered in a sturdy coating of mana, whether he liked it or not, such was the perk of a dragon. Alan had to manually remove this coating when the situation arose.
Also, he was expecting something to happen. Alan wanted to see if Daniel Park had nefarious intentions and was itching for [Dominatus] to be triggered by [Midas]. He was interested in how two Unique Skills fought. Not only would it give him useful insight, but perhaps it would also enable him to garner a certain degree of control over [Dominatus], allowing him to change its defensive nature to one more attuned to offense.
The others around them, the numerous powerful officials in the back, Ezra, Elaine, and Elijah to his right, and the other Guild leaders to Daniel’s left, all looked at the exchange. Richard, the Guild Leader of Twilight, and Logan, the Guild Leader of Behemoth, paid special attention to it.
They both shook hands, and Alan said.
“It’s a pleasure to meet you.”
Daniel’s eyes flashed a brighter hue of gold for a split second, and a look of astonishment crossed his face before giving way to a smile.
“Marvelous…”
He commented, and the people looking at them raised their eyes. Daniel quickly added.
“The pleasure is all mine.”
He added, and Alan retracted his hand. He didn’t try to continue the conversation; instead, he analyzed the encounter.
‘He read my information, but only my raw stats… Hmmm…’
In the brief moment Daniel’s eyes flashed gold, Alan had activated [Dragon Eyes] to both conceal his information and reveal Daniel’s. His concealment had worked to a certain extent, as only his raw stats were revealed while everything else, including his titles and race, knowledge of his lineage, and bloodline, was concealed. His martial techniques and plethora of skills and domains as well. However, Alan was confused for a moment.
‘There’s something else as well, but what?’
While his important information had been read, Daniel Park’s [Midas] had read something else about him, something he couldn’t put a finger on. Alan wondered what it was.
‘Did [Midas] encounter [Dominatus]? No, it was something else… but what?’
In the end, he couldn’t figure it out. He decided to ask Maxwell later; perhaps he would know what Daniel had ‘read’ about Alan.
This didn’t raise any alarms in his mind. Whatever it was, it couldn’t be too important or dangerous to his existence. If it were, his instincts would have warned him about it, and perhaps even [Dominatus] would have activated. Furthermore, Alan’s information was also protected by the system Ariel built for him.
If it were anything that would allow Daniel any advantage against Alan, and a significant one at that, he would have been warned. His senses would detect it, and Alan would be able to prepare against it.
Daniel’s [Midas] couldn’t fool the genetics of a Dragon, God Beast, and Void Spawn; Alan had other things to notice it as well.
Seeing that Alan had no intentions of continuing the conversation, Daniel took the initiative.
“I’ve heard you were on a long training expedition. How did it go?”
Alan chuckled in response and said.
“Don’t you already know?”
‘You already checked my stats, why even bother asking that?’
“Ah, I meant to say, can you tell us your experience? Surely, to warrant such growth, they have to be amazing.”
Daniel corrected himself, indirectly informing everyone listening to their conversation of Alan’s growth. Although their conjectures couldn’t go beyond the S-rank, Alan still scowled.
“Even Ezra was left ‘far’ behind in the dust.”
Daniel added, prompting Logan Fornum and everyone else to show shocked and concerned expressions. As for Ezra, sitting right next to Alan, he didn’t show anything; his eyes were still focused on the stage. Alan cursed in his mind.
‘This bastard…’
Well, the cat was out of the bag. Alan sighed and thought of something.
“Oh, really, it was nothing special. All I had to do was defeat a Lightning Giant the size of a mountain; he had many hearts, and he killed me quite a few times.”
He elaborated with a smile on his face. Alan had tried to hide his growth, but if the Leader of Titan was so adamant in showing everyone what he saw about Alan, he would oblige.
“He was a really big fucker, I think bigger than Everest? It was a real pain in the ass dealing with him. One time, he crushed my entire body with his fists, and the other, eviscerated my entire body with a beam of pure lightning energy.
The funniest thing is, when I actually managed to land a blow to him, a significant one, I died because his blood was like magma. Ha! I was burned alive!”
He said all of that with a smile on his face, leading even the calm Ezra to give him a weird look. Everyone had a strange look on their faces as they listened to Alan. After all, who the hell would believe him?
Even if it was the era of awakened and special events, such as dungeons and labyrinths, Alan’s story was still a bit far-fetched. The only one who actually knew it all to be the truth was Richard… and.
Alan’s face froze, as he studied Daniel Park; the man’s expression had not changed into one of shock, mild curiosity, or disbelief. It was still the same enigmatic smile as he intently listened to Alan. He was the only one besides Richard who didn’t think it was far-fetched.
But above all else, the main reason Alan had stopped speaking was that his senses had finally activated, warning him of danger. Alan eyed the leader of Titan.
“And?”
He asked, with the same enigmatic smile on his face, but Alan didn’t elaborate any further. For a brief moment, he activated Dragon Eyes, but nothing occurred.
‘Protected…’
He finally understood why Dragon Eyes failed to catch anything about [Midas], or the ‘uniqueness’ of Daniel Park; that part about his information was being protected by none other than a Supreme Being.
‘Is this related to the contribution competition between the two guilds? What Supreme Being backs Titan?’
Alan quickly asked Lanesha in his mind, who responded.
[The Supreme Dragon of Frost, Lanesha, says that it is a Greedy Goat.]
“…”
He sighed, finding the information ‘very helpful’. Alan wondered if the danger he sensed stemmed from the Supreme Being or Daniel Park. Alan decided not to talk about his experiences anymore, and changed the subject.
“And? And nothing else! I’m sure you have more interesting stories to tell, like about your experiences in your love life. If you need, I have an excellent medicine to help you in that regard.”
Daniel’s expression froze, and so did everyone else. A good thing about having Dragon Eyes was that it revealed a lot of information, which included the guild leader’s erectile dysfunction. Alan mentioned it as a sort of payback and to see what Daniel would do in response.
Regrettably, the man was an expert at keeping himself under control, and joyfully added.
“Really? It would be a pleasure if you helped me!”
“…”
He didn’t really have something to help in that regard, but was sure the House of Death had something… he could just ask them later if Daniel really pressed on that subject. Thankfully, at that time, Harrison arrived on the stage.
