The Villain's Story

Chapter 944: Nuclear Assault.

Chapter 944: Nuclear Assault.

Harrison gave a slight nod to the general in front, permitting him to start the nuclear assault. His only concern was whether Sabrina had safely made it to the portal or not, and once that was confirmed…

It was time to burn a continent. One that had once housed millions of people, and now, only millions of demonic beasts.

The command was given swiftly, and Harrison leaned back into his chair, closing his eyes. He was the only one in the command room, so… calm. The only one who was at peace with himself.

While everyone was silent, none of them was at ease. If one focused enough, one could hear the wild beating of every heart in that room but one. Sweat formed on their brows as anxiousness and fear took over.

But they couldn’t do anything now; the order to use the atomic bomb had been given. It had already been passed; all they could do was wait as Humanity’s greatest weapon of destruction was unleashed on Terra Damnum.

On the Sea, the Fleet retreated, while some specific vessels chose to stay in their original locations; these were the ones that would actually fire off the atomic bombs and were safe underwater.

“Hmmm…”

Oliver sighed, watching the darkness in front of him with trepidation. It appeared as if he had a lot to say, but held it in. Arken patted his shoulder from behind, and soon after, Alan jumped on the deck once more, exiting the dirty sea.

“Watch carefully, boy.”

Arken muttered in a low voice. It was easy to hear it with Alan’s enhanced hearing. The boy got up and cast multiple cleaning spells on himself, removing the filth that stained his body. For a moment, Alan turned to the ship, confused.

“…”

It was quiet, but at the same time, loud. The crew was all outside, watching the darkness in front. Not a single soul let out a word, but their hearts lied. Every heart was beating fast, restless, and with a slight bit of fear.

The sea was cold, even with the heat of the bombardment, but they were all sweating buckets. Only Arken and Oliver were somewhat alright. Alan focused on the crew for a moment, but left them alone soon after.

He turned around to face Terra Damnum; the continent was out of sight, but with a few observational skills, as well as [Dragon Eyes], he could see it as if he were standing right next to it.

‘Is it about to begin?’

He asked himself; the atmosphere sure said so. It seemed as if every single human on the Fleet was waiting for the ‘event’ to happen. Alan silently focused on the surface of Terra Damnum.

He didn’t know how many Nuclear warheads would be deployed; no one but the top brass knew, but to obliterate the entire continent, it should be more than a dozen, perhaps even a hundred. He was eager to see the strength of a Nuclear bomb.

Within his mind, he compared one to his [Supreme Meteor], a skill that he wasn’t comfortable using on Earth, as the mana and the atmosphere would most likely suffer… He thought that [Supreme Meteor] was as powerful as a nuclear bomb or two.

He was even confident in surviving one, as long as he had his regeneration, of course. But even if he didn’t, the Panoply would guarantee his survival.

Nuking Terra Damnum was a necessity. The land was destroyed; no crop or animal could live there anymore. It had been tainted by the Abyss for so long that it became just like it. Terra Damnum was a stain on the planet, and this stain was important.

Both for the Humans and the Demons. To the humans, it was a warning, a prelude of their fate if the Demons won, and the ruin that would be brought upon their planet. For the Demons, Terra Damnum is most likely going to be their starting point. It would be where the Portal would open once again, and the abyssal armies would flood Earth.

All over the planet, arrangements were being made to stop portals from opening up in the middle of cities and towns, but Terra Damnum would be the sole exception. Nothing like that could be set up on this ruined continent.

The demons would arrive on Terra Damnum as they did sixty years ago. They would come, and then, they would wage war. However, even though Humanity couldn’t do much about it, they could do one thing.

Make them see a hell even worse than the one they originated from. Make them step on a land of fire so hot and poison so potent the Abyss would seem like heaven in comparison. Make them breathe in rot and decay, radiation of such a high degree that their future children would weep in agony.

The plan was simple: make the home base of the Demons a literal hell before they even set foot on the planet. Make them think that the Abyss was a far better home than Earth ever would be.

Make them know the pain of radiation, of a poison they have never even seen before. A plague they will find hard to stop.

The missiles had been launched, and they were making their way towards the continent. Alan watched the large warheads cut through the air at breakneck speeds and approach the land. He could see them clearly, as if he were right next to them.

His ears caught the sound of the waves crashing against the boats of the Fleet that was still retreating, of the atomic bombs cutting through the air, and finally, the most prominent, the voices of prayer.

The men behind him, on every ship… began to pray. Many clutched their chests and began to pray. Alan couldn’t focus on a single one; there were too many overlapping with one another.

He couldn’t understand it. The voices of the soldiers mixed; there were too many, and he would have to exert some effort to single them out if he wanted to.

He let out a sigh, and focused on Terra Damnum as the night turned into day.
