Chapter 974: Army(3).

With the last of the items finally sacrificed, Alan smiled intently at seeing the number of points within the altar, a whopping total of:

Almost forty-four million, a number he was proud to see. As expected, most of the points came from the treasures he received from the house of death. With the allocation of points done, Alan needed to decide how to spend them.

Frankly, there were plenty of things he could spend them on outside of troops. He could upgrade… everything. Literally everything in the domain.

From the walls and the cannons stationed atop them to the houses in the city, and even the construction of a few buildings in the area, he could upgrade the foundation of the city, the castle, the garden, the tower, and everything in between.

He could enhance every aspect of the city, but since fortifying a city wasn’t his strength, Alan spent a few points upgrading the walls by several levels and repairing some of the cannons positioned on top of them. Other than that, he made no changes to the city, instead focusing on the army.

He was going to fight a million or so termites in a few moments, wasn’t he? Better get those numbers up.

Even after gaining a ludicrous amount of forces, Alan had yet to run out of points. He was far from it, in fact. Regardless, he decided to save them in case of emergencies. He had increased the number of troops he thought would help in the underground invasion, which was why he kept the number of archers low. He didn’t think they would be much help in tight tunnels.

Furthermore, he had focused more on the melee troops, such as the Jade Serpent Beasts, knights, and the other soldiers. He had bought some interesting options as well, such as the Winged Jade Serpents. They were as big as the beasts but with wings, they weren’t as fast as Alan but could fly at a respectable pace. Their breath attack was also more powerful than that of the normal beasts.

He only bought a few of them because he wanted to see them in action and because he wanted a scenic view of a hundred of them joyfully flying around the castle. It rubbed his mind in a good way.

Other than that, he bought mages. They were troops that could only have one specific affinity, and they could also only have an affinity Alan possessed, which limited them somewhat.

Regardless, they were merely there for supportive spells and buffs, perhaps a bit of healing. Alan didn’t place much hope in his mages, though his dragon blood may be biased in that regard. He, along with Ariel, was interested in the death-affinity mages, however.

Valus and Kulak were already examining the mages of the Darkness and Shadow affinities stationed somewhere in the castle. Alan was all for it; he would rather they examined the mages and told him what to do with them instead of coming up with something himself.

[Interesting, how much does a single death mage cost?]

Ariel asked, examining the five mages in the throne room with interest.

“About twenty thousand points. Costly, honestly, especially compared to the other mages.

[Death is an extremely rare element, after all. They are capable of intermediate-level death magic and can pull off a high-level spell if they work together. Get a few more, and they can function as competent healers for the army.]

Alan simply nodded; he didn’t question how the element of death was potent in healing and didn’t feel the need to. He just trusted the advice of a being as old as the universe itself.

“So, what do you think of these guys?”

He asked the dragons watching him, looking at the six special units Alan had conjured. The Five Jade Serpent Generals and the Jade Serpent Champion.

The Generals were firmly in the upper level of S-rank, while the Champion was in the upper level of SS-rank. Frankly speaking, Alan had desperately wanted to just conjure as many of these troops as he could, but unfortunately, the Jade Palace had a certain limit on these units, though he could still hire five more generals and another champion. He was merely waiting to see what they could do before doing so.

He suspected he would have to upgrade the castle entirely to conjure more, and it would be something he would do in a heartbeat once he knew the exact level of his special units.

The Generals and Champion were draconians. It seemed as if the lowest level of troops would have more snake-like features, and as they progressed, they would lose them. The Knights were almost humanoid, and after that, higher-level units would go have draconic features instead.

It made him wonder if he could conjure an actual dragon if he upgraded his domain further… though that was still a long way off. Regardless, Alan was satisfied; the only disappointment about the Jade Palace was that the special elite troops, of which there were two, were fixed.

He couldn’t add another Jade Serpent Beast King no matter what. They were as strong as him and could utilize the Jade Palace to make up for their lacking magical potency… unfortunately, they were stuck in the Jade Palace as well. They were strictly protectors of the Jade Palace, and if Alan were being honest…

That was good enough, his domain would be ridiculous if he could bring the Jade Serpent Beast Kings outside the Jade Palace. They were directly linked to him and would grow with him. The moment Alan reached the Epic rank, they would also evolve. Alan had already bent the rules enough by creating another one using an item he got from the tower.

Speaking of that…

[I am already on it, although I would advise you to not get your hopes up. Such an item is unique, and even if it exists, it is likely that it has already been used.]

Valus answered in his mind. Alan clicked his tongue; he was hoping he could leverage his position in the House of Death to acquire something even remotely similar to the item he got from the tower.

Having more Beast Kings wouldn’t hurt at all… Unfortunately, something like that seemed unlikely. Alan sighed and focused once more on the generals and champion.

“So… What are you all capable of?”

He asked, and the six of them bowed down and answered.
