Chapter 1091: Missed Opportunity
Chapter 1091: Missed Opportunity
Shortly after Kyra expended a great amount of effort to placate Mirelia, the latter began tidying up their store with a helpless sigh. She lazily yet skillfully returned everything to its original position with a water spell.
At the same time, many destructible objects were also pieced back together. It was as if time was rewinding itself. Unfortunately, it only seemed that.
Most destructible furniture was cheap, replaceable, and simple to repair or reform. On the other hand, the magical pearls that were damaged were not so simple to fix with magic alone.
Behind their simple and beautiful surfaces were filled with an untold number of runic inscriptions that intricately interconnected in layers to produce their specific effects.
Such miraculous creations, no doubt, couldn’t have been produced without a great demand for dexterity of hands, sharpness of eyesight, and focus of mind, in addition to the correlating knowledge and fine tools required to engage in the craft.
That said, while the demand for the profession was great, its benefits were not without merit.
Vaan guessed that the art of pearl-making would have some effect on tempering the soul and improving cultivation.
It was a common belief that all paths eventually converged and led to the great way. As such, it was encouraged for disciples to take on side professions to supplement their main cultivation, especially if they found their talents lacking in the field.
In the midst of Mirelia collecting the remaining dust and debris for disposal, a hearty laughter sounded as a golden-haired mermaid with otherworldly beauty entered the store.
"Hehehe, Kyra, did you blow up the store again?"
"My Lady! What brings you to the store?"
Kyra and Mirelia were both shocked and startled by Lady Sevrine’s sudden visit, thinking they might be in trouble. After all, the timing was just too coincidental.
However, Lady Sevrine had never visited the store so promptly after an explosion or admonished them for it, no matter how many times it had occurred in the past. As such, her unexpected arrival filled them both with questions and unease.
Was Lady Sevrine finally fed up with the store’s performance? Was Lady Sevrine finally going to take the store’s business seriously? Have they finally lost the favor of Lady Sevrine?
"Relax, Little Pearls. It’s not what you think," Lady Sevrine softly chuckled, dispelling their worries.
Lady Sevrine’s voice was like musical chimes, pleasant to the ears of her listeners. It was gentle and soothing, naturally complementing the graceful and elegant aura that surrounded her.
She seemed like someone kind and easy to get along with.
However, behind her gentle and easygoing surface was an unfathomable strength that commanded respect and obedience. Her softness shouldn’t be mistaken for weakness.
As Vaan quietly observed her and studied her level, Lady Sevrine shifted her gaze and attention to him.
"I am here for the Young Noble," Lady Sevrine stated her purpose and asked Mirelia, "I received a report of you dragging Noble Vaan into our store. You were too rash. A Noble Being is not someone you can casually touch without their expressed permission."
"You could have gotten yourself in deep trouble if you had tried it with any other Noble Beings," Lady Sevrine scolded Mirelia while also feeling relief, seeing Vaan didn’t find any issue with it.
Mirelia lowered her head in guilt and reflected. Indeed, she had been too rash in this matter.
"That said, I can understand your desperation. You’ve always wanted the store’s business to prosper, while your sister only cares about improving her skills. You wanted Noble Vaan to endorse the store’s products, right? Did you already write up the contract and have it signed?"
"Not yet, my Lady. I did finish writing up the contract, but before I could get it signed, it was reduced to ashes in the explosion."
"Good."
Just as Mirelia lamented about the contract’s destruction and glared at Kyra, Lady Sevrine’s unexpected response immediately caught her off guard.
"Good? What do you mean by that, my Lady?" Mirelia asked with a stunned look.
"We won’t be doing any business with Noble Vaan," Lady Sevrine stated resolutely before offering her apology, "I hope Noble Vaan won’t take any offence. Someone paid me to refuse all possible business cooperation with Noble Vaan, and Sevrine didn’t see any good reason not to accept such a generous gift." R̃Ἀ₦ộ₿Ё𝐬
"Of course, if Noble Vaan is also feeling generous and willing to gift Sevrine something of equal value or greater, Sevrine will also feel obliged to engage in any business cooperation you desire," Lady Sevrine casually stated.
"It’s fine. I’ve already expected this," Vaan casually smiled, getting up to leave since he had no further business with the store. However, before exiting, he briefly paused his step to say, "Thank you for the tea."
"T-This..."
Mirelia and Kyra were both stunned by their Lady’s decision. At the same time, they also felt a sense of loss.
Since when did Lady Sevrine care about such things?
With the support of her powerful family, Lady Sevrine would never be short of money. Even if she weren’t a Noble Being, the financial support she could receive from her family wouldn’t be inferior to one.
That was how powerful her family was and how special her status was!
Since it wasn’t for money, then what was Lady Sevrine’s intention behind making such a decision?
"What a pity," Lady Sevrine uttered after Vaan’s departure, shaking her head.
Although Vaan didn’t receive the special funding granted to Noble Beings, she never doubted his wealth. The background of a pure human-looking Noble Being couldn’t possibly be ordinary.
If Vaan had taken out some high-value treasures, it would have been an opportunity to learn something about his background.
Who wouldn’t be interested in finding out about his background?
In fact, everyone in the Myriad Sea God Palace would be curious about his background if they heard of him. After all, they had never seen such a pure human-looking Noble Being.
The Holy Family he hailed from had to be extraordinary beyond their imagination.
’I know every Holy Family affiliated to the Myriad Sea God Palace, but none of them possess such a pure human bloodline. Could he be from another Sector or Chaosverse?’ Lady Sevrine mused.
