Chapter 1146: Nascent Soul Avatar Completed, Drawback Discovered

’The first step: Drawing the Mind Rune!’

Vaan willed his power of thought, and a surge of power rushed forth into an empty spot in his vast sea of consciousness—the invisible threads of soul power weaved together in overlapping layers.

A single point of white brilliance soon illuminated the dark space.

At first, a spherical ball of light seemed to take shape. But as the invisible threads of soul power continued to weave in a specific direction, a curved line was quickly drawn. Then came a second, a third, and so on.

Within five minutes, the Mind Rune was completed, exuded a rare power of law.

As Vaan’s consciousness focused on the Mind Rune, it easily absorbed his soul power and thoughts, improving the channeling speed of his soul power and easing the burden of his control over the power of thought.

Ultimately, the birth of the Mind Rune allowed subsequent Soul Runes to be drawn quicker and easier, essentially shortening the time to condense the Nascent Soul Avatar.

However, after the completion of the Nascent Soul Avatar, it would also act as the brain of the Nascent Soul Avatar, the vital link to his consciousness.

’Next rune: the Soul Sea Rune.’

The Soul Sea Rune acted as an emergency soul power reserve, ready to supply soul power whenever a deficient of soul power arises due to circumstances beyond one’s control.

Although Vaan felt like he didn’t need it, having one was still safer than having none.

As he drew the Soul Sea Rune, a diamond-looking shape quickly took form. Despite its simple form, which looked like it could be drawn by a three-year-old kid, this was only the surface.

If the diamond-shaped rune were magnified a thousand times, one would start to notice that several thousand smaller connecting runes created it.

Nevertheless, the moment the last stroke was completed, the Soul Sea Rune came to life, activating the power of law and gathering the elements of space.

Soon, an octahedron-shaped shell covered the Soul Sea Rune and transformed the interior into a vast subspace capable of containing, gathering, and refining soul power. Once the Nascent Soul Avatar was completed, the Soul Sea Rune would become its heart, maintaining its form and operations.

Afterward, Vaan continued to draw the Spiritual Spine Rune, which formed the skeletal frame of the Nascent Soul Avatar and strengthened the structural integrity of soul power, preventing its dispersal.

The fourth rune to be drawn was the Thought Conduit Rune, which grew root-like soul power channels throughout the Nascent Soul Avatar’s body, allowing the transmission of thought and feelings, replicating sensory perceptions.

Finally, the fifth and last rune to be drawn was the Soul Body Rune.

Its name was self-explanatory; it formed the overall shape of the Nascent Soul Avatar. Still, its function was more than to act as a simple protective shell. It was also the largest and most complex of the five soul runes.

After the Soul Body Rune activated the power of laws, it could absorb other forms of energy and refine them, transforming them into soul power. In essence, it was an energy-gathering array for replenishing soul power.

Although the soul power it produced was pitifully insignificant, it had to be mentioned that only true souls could produce soul power. Thus, its ability to produce any soul power at all made it heaven-defying.

After Vaan completed this last soul rune, he noticed his soul power reserve was depleted by a third.

The final step of forming the Nascent Soul Avatar consumed the most soul power. As such, he paused his work and played the Jade Harmony Flute to enter the land of dreams, absorbing soul essence from the Astral Soul Realm.

Within a short time, Vaan was filled with soul power again.

’The ability to replenish soul power simply by making a trip to the Astral Soul Realm is certainly a talent that draws the envy of heaven and earth. Without this ability, other Soul Masters simply can’t compete,’ Vaan mused with a sigh.

He couldn’t help but feel proud of having this advantage.

However, he also knew that this advantage was not something he obtained himself. It was more likely to be a talent inherited from his father. Thus, there was nothing to be proud of. Ṟ𝒶ΝȪ₿Еᶊ

After all, he was practically fed with a silver spoon by his father.

Originally, Vaan believed his fortuitous encounters were all arranged by his younger brother. But after learning about his father, he couldn’t help but wonder if this elusive father had also played a part in manipulating the hands of fate.

Even if he couldn’t recall any memories of his father, Vaan felt proud to have such an impressive father, whom all Soul Masters practically worship.

Just his feats alone made him deserving of the respect and awe of all beings.

’Throughout heaven and earth, I, alone, am the honoured one.’ – If there were one person who was qualified to say this, it would be his father.

’I want to know why father’s traces in history have largely disappeared, and only some records have been retained by the Soul Master Association. My missing memories of him might also be caused by whatever reason he is fading from history...’

Vaan frowned when he thought about this.

Although he wanted to find out what happened to his father, he knew he lacked the capability with his current level of cultivation. Once again, the things he wanted to do were held back by his own weakness.

He was no longer Varuna, one of the only two Outerverse Originators in Chaos.

To have the mentality of an Outerverse Originator but not being able to do Outerverse Originator things was certainly a great inconvenience.

’There’s no point thinking about this. It will only make me feel unnecessary discomfort and frustration. I just need to be patient and take things one step at a time.’

Although Vaan believed this, he would subconsciously think about those unnecessary thoughts from time to time. Still, he also didn’t think this was a flaw; it was a reminder urging him forward.

After Vaan continued forming his Nascent Soul Avatar, it was finally completed after three days’ worth of effort. The moment the Nascent Soul Avatar was fully formed, a portion of his consciousness transferred into it, similar to the time he bound the Primordial Avatar.

A profound connection with the Nascent Soul Avatar was formed thanks to its unique aspects, strengthened by the foundation he had laid in the soul runes.

With a thought, the Nascent Soul Avatar exited his forehead, appearing in front of him to inspect. It was about the size of a standard tissue box and possessed an appearance resembling his own, but not exactly the same.

It had a baby face, akin to his younger years.

In other words, the Nascent Soul Avatar’s appearance reflected his kid self, not his current self. Most likely, it was because this was the age when his soul was still the purest, untainted by the mortal dust.

That was also why it was called a Nascent Soul Avatar and not just a Soul Avatar.

If not for the illumination of concentrated soul power outlining the body of the Nascent Soul Avatar and its small size, which exposed its irregularity, one would not have realized it was an energy body and would have thought it was a real human child.

’So this is my Nascent Soul Avatar... I must say I look quite adorable as a kid,’ Vaan mused thoughtfully, praising himself.

If his women ever wanted to see his kid photos, he could just show them his Nascent Soul Avatar. They would definitely fall in love with it and pamper it a lot.

After all, who didn’t like cute things?

’Maybe this Nascent Soul Avatar can also help me woo women,’ Vaan thought jokingly, not giving it serious consideration.

On a more important note, Vaan discovered that even though other Soul Masters could use Nascent Soul Avatars as power banks for their soul power, they would not be able to create too many of them.

After all, even if the Nascent Soul Avatars weren’t put to active use, they still required a basic level of consciousness to maintain their operating functions.

As such, if other Soul Masters didn’t have a powerful consciousness, creating too many Nascent Soul Avatars would continuously divide their thoughts and consciousness.

Naturally, even the most severe case of dividing thoughts and consciousness wouldn’t harm or kill a person; it would still render them useless, making them no different from mindless puppets that lived without meaning and purpose.

Unless one lived in absolute safety, falling into this confused and thoughtless state would just turn them into lambs waiting to be slaughtered.

As for Soul Masters, dividing their thoughts and consciousness would render them incapable of wielding the power of thought. Even maintaining a certain precision of control over it would be difficult.

’Fortunately for me, I have far too much computational power that it’s an emotional burden. As such, I don’t have to worry about creating too many Nascent Soul Avatars. In fact, doing so would be even more beneficial for me.’

Vaan was pleasantly surprised by the discovery.

Although the soul power exhaustion was also a good method for his emotional health, it was only a temporary solution. Moreover, its drawback was severe.

On the other hand, creating Nascent Soul Avatars, unless destroyed, was lasting in effect. They could completely counter his ever-growing computational power due to his expanding Heaven-Swallowing Space.

’This is certainly a nice discovery,’ Vaan smiled.

Having more methods was always better.
