Chapter 1219: Seraphina’s Suspicion
Chapter 1219: Seraphina’s Suspicion
One week later.
During this time, Empyrean Oceanheart and Seraphina did not remain idle in the dark space of the Umbral Edge. They were on the constant move while Vaan’s soulless body was apparently cultivating in the starship. .
After all, if they did not move, the Edge Sweeper would catch up to them quicker.
However, if they were constantly on the move, even if they weren’t traveling quickly, they would still buy themself some more time.
Nevertheless, during this past week, Empyrean Oceanheart and Seraphina had been surprised on multiple occasions as the starship cruised through the vast region of shattered star fragments.
From time to time, they would encounter underground shelters among the shattered star fragments. Some were abandoned, and some were not.
It allowed them to understand that the survivors in the Umbral Edge were not as scarce as they had originally imagined. Even so, they did not approach any of these survivor shelters as they remembered what happened to the last one they had visited.
Their visit would only bring a disaster to these survivor shelters.
Although doing so might delay the Edge Sweeper’s pursuit to some extent, they were not so desperate that they needed to resort to such heartless and selfish methods to ensure their own survival.
"Great-grandmother, the surface of that star fragment has signs of artificial changes. Could there be another survivor shelter on that star fragment?" Seraphina pointed.
Empyrean Oceanheart used a Sensory Spell to look inside the star fragment before she confirmed the existence of a survivor shelter.
Moreover, it wasn’t abandoned.
While it was a small survivor shelter compared to the ones they had encountered previously, it still accommodated more than 30,000 survivors, with the strongest being at the Divine Lord Rank.
"Indeed, there’s a living survivor shelter there," Empyrean Oceanheart acknowledged.
Seraphina was immediately astonished with wide eyes. She quickly mentioned, "That’s already the eighteenth shelter we have encountered in the past week, and the ninth shelter in the past two days alone."
"These survival shelters are appearing more frequently, Great-grandmother," Seraphina added.
Empyrean Oceanheart nodded, furrowing her brows slightly.
Indeed, she had also noticed this increasing number of survivor shelters in the vast and boundless shattered star region. Furthermore, the peak strength of each subsequent survivor shelter was also increasing.
Such a trend suggested that a much larger and more powerful survivor shelter might exist deeper within the depths of the Umbral Edge. Moreover, the survivor shelter was likely very safe if it could gather so many survivors.
Even if it wasn’t a single large survivor shelter with more powerful survivors, it would still likely be a large group of survivor shelters bundled closely together.
"Could there be a central hub of survivors somewhere deeper in the shattered star region, Great-grandmother?" Seraphina questioned with a hopeful look, voicing Empyrean Oceanheart’s own suspicion.
If the greatest threat in the shattered star region was the Edge Sweeper, then it was impossible for so many survivors to gather in one place—unless they had something that could reliably avoid the Edge Sweeper’s detection.
As such, if such a large survivor group existed, then it was likely very safe.
If they could seek refuge there, they might not need to continue fleeing from the Edge Sweeper’s pursuit. Moreover, they could even settle down there temporarily and gather more information.
Seraphina’s thoughts were easily seen through by Empyrean Oceanheart.
It would be a lie to say that Empyrean Oceanheart wasn’t tempted to visit such a possibly large survivor group to seek refuge and gather information.
After all, if they could settle down and rest, why would they choose to stay on the run?
Unfortunately, such a possibility was nothing more than their hope and suspicion. Even if they find such a large survivor group, its safety might not be as secure as they had imagined. ṟÅ𝐍ǒᛒΕS
If they were wrong, they would bring a greater disaster upon it.
"Since we are already heading in this direction, we will continue. If there is a central hub of survivors deeper in this region, we will take a look first and decide after," Empyrean Oceanheart decided.
No matter what, they should at least confirm their suspicion.
If the survivors had built a thriving Star Kingdom in the Umbral Edge, they would have access to various information related to the shattered star region, or perhaps even other regions.
Such information could be essential to their escape from the Umbral Edge.
After Seraphina heard Empyrean Oceanheart’s decision, she eagerly looked forward to their journey ahead.
From the scarcity of survivor shelters to its increasing encounters, Seraphina suspected the depths of the shattered star region that they were heading into was much safer than any other region.
Otherwise, the survivors wouldn’t build so many more shelters in this particular direction that they were headed.
Boom!
An unexpected wave of soul pressure suddenly surged in the starship, seemingly appearing out of nowhere.
Such abruptness undoubtedly startled Empyrean Oceanheart and Seraphina as they immediately directed their attention to the source, only to realize Vaan’s soulless body was no longer soulless.
Not only had Vaan awakened, but his soul even exerted the pressure of a Divine Lord-rank Soul Master. True to his word, he had advanced to the Divine Lord Rank from the Divine Warrior Rank within a week.
Such significant cultivation progress seemed to appear out of nowhere. It wasn’t just unheard of; the process of acquiring it was bizarre as well.
If Empyrean Oceanheart did not recognize Vaan’s familiar aura, she would have questioned whether another soul had possessed his body to exert Divine Lord-level soul pressure.
"You’ve actually done it..."
Empyrean Oceanheart stared at Vaan as if she were looking at a monster. No, even a monstrous genius wouldn’t be this monstrous. His feat had exceeded the scope of common sense.
Just how exactly did he do it?
"Have we been encountering survivor shelters more frequently during this past week?"
Vaan’s unexpected first question upon returning to reality caught Empyrean Oceanheart and Seraphina off guard, astonishing them.
He had been deeply immersed in Soul Cultivation. How did he know that?
