Chapter 76 - Thirty-Five [Barrow’s Souls]
Chapter 76: Thirty-Five [Barrow’s Souls]
The old man took another puff of his cigarette and smiled at everyone.
“If you have enough [Barrow’s Souls], you’re welcome to do business with me anytime.”
As he spoke, the invisible flow of time started moving once again.
Everyone regained control of their bodies, and everything returned to normal.
However, everyone was now looking at the old man in shock.
“Who is this old man?” Chen Feng was shocked.
The ability to freeze everything in the world with a single thought was probably something that no one could do.
Could he be a god?
Chen Feng could not shake this thought off after it formed in his mind. The more he thought about it, the more likely it seemed.
Could a normal human being live for more than a thousand years?
No!
Could an ordinary human stop time with a single thought?
No, that was impossible!
Although this old man claimed to be the leader of the Barrow clan, Chen Feng had already begun to be suspicious of him. Perhaps this old man was a deity from Japanese mythology, but he was not telling them the truth.
The items on the old man’s shelf were also not ordinary at all.
There were many treasures that no one had ever heard of before, but from their appearance and name, one could tell how valuable they were.
However, all the Awakened Ones were obedient right now. They looked at the old man obediently.
Many of them had thought of fighting against him earlier.
However, it was shocking to be faced with the sight of a small team silently disintegrating into white smoke in front of them.
They could only focus on the [Barrow’s Souuls] that the old man had mentioned.
They listened to what the old man said.
If one killed a soul beast in the forest ahead, they would obtain a [Barrow’s Soul].
It sounded easy, but they knew that it would not be an easy task.
However…this seemed to be the only way that they could save themselves right now.
“Senior, I have a question—what is the Sword Manual Scroll?” A young man’s voice rang out from the crowd.
Chen Feng turned around and saw a young man with six swords hanging from his body. He seemed to be about seventeen or eighteen years old.
There was a man wearing a fox mask, a woman with short hair, and a familiar face next to him.
“I think she was called… Zi Yue?” Chen Feng tried to recall his memories.
These four people were clearly from the same team. They were a strange group. Chen Feng had no impression of them, nor did he realize when they had appeared.
“The Sword Manual Scroll…” A faint smile appeared on the old man’s face.
“The Sword Manual Scroll consists of a total of 81 scrolls. It records an entire set of Supreme Dao Sword techniques, but it depends on your own abilities…whether you’re capable of comprehending the content of the scrolls.”
The young man’s eyes lit up after hearing the old man’s words.
“There are a total of 81 scrolls consisting of records of an entire set of Supreme Dao Sword techniques!”
“Okay! I will definitely bring the 81 [Barrow’s Souls] back with me!”
Many Awakened Ones could not help but laugh when they heard his words.
Although they still did not know what the [Barrow’s Soul] was, they could imagine how difficult it was to obtain it.
“Young people sure are impetuous. They only know how to boast.”
“Aren’t you afraid that you’ll break your back if you brag like that? You might not even get a single [Barrow’s Soull] later.”
“You’re about to lose your life. How dare you spout nonsense about the sword manual scrolls?”
The crowd immediately voiced out their doubts.
The young man frowned. He touched the hilt of his sword reflexively with his right hand.
“Calm down.”
The fox-masked man walked over and patted his shoulder.
The young man slowly released his grip on the sword, and the killing intent in his eyes slowly dissipated.
…
After this brief interlude, everyone walked along the path that the old man pointed to and entered the forest ahead.
Chen Feng was no exception.
There were a total of four people in their team, and all of them needed to obtain the [Soul Potion] from the old man, so they needed at least 20 [Barrow’s Souls].
Other than that, Chen Feng also needed five [Barrow’s Souls] to exchange them for the nerves of the Demon Dragon.
“Do you guys need to exchange anything?”
Chen Feng turned around to ask his team members.
Pu Yunmo and Blake shook their heads. Only Sakurai Longzi stammered without speaking for some time.
“Sakurai, if you have anything you want to exchange, just say it,” Chen Feng said with a smile.
“I… I want to exchange the souls for the condensation of divine energy… but it requires ten [Barrow’s Souls].”
Sakurai Longzi hesitated for a moment before whispering to him.
Ten [ Barrow’s Souls] were not a small number.
This was quite a burden for the entire team.
“Condensation of divine energy?”
After Chen Feng heard what she said, he repeated her words in confusion. He had never heard of this item before, nor did he know what it could be used for.
However, according to Chen Feng’s understanding of Sakurai Longzi, she would not take the initiative to speak out if she did not really need this item, let alone trouble the others in the team, given her headstrong personality.
“Is this item very important to you?”
Chen Feng asked as he looked straight into Sakurai Longzi’s eyes.
“Yes.” Sakurai Longzi nodded silently.
“Then let’s make an exchange! Don’t we just need ten [Barrow’s Souls]? That’s a small problem!” Chen Feng said as he stretched.
“Soul beasts are no match for us. I haven’t fought in a long time…My hands are getting slightly itchy…”
Chen Feng said casually. He stood at the front of the group and took the lead as he stepped into the forest.
“Sakurai Longzi, you don’t have to feel so burdened.”
Pu Yunmo walked over to console him.
“Anyways, Chen Feng is the Lord of the Pavilion right now. He’s our superior now. If we have any requests, it is only right for him to help us out!”
“Thank goodness we have a good leader.”
Pu Yunmo had a languid smile on his face as he ran forward to catch up with Chen Feng.
Blake also nodded at Sakurai Longzi, but he was not good with words. It seemed like he wanted to say something, but he tilted his head and pondered upon it for a long time. Finally, a bitter smile, which looked worse than a tearful expression, formed on his face as he followed Pu Yunmo.
Sakurai Longzi stood where she was and looked at her companions, who were already walking ahead of her. She felt much better now.
The corners of her lips curled up slightly. She then spoke to them in a voice that was only audible to them. “Thank you.”
“But…you guys should wait for me!”
Sakurai Longzi shouted and sped up as she chased after him.
