The World Dragon's Heir

Chapter 574: All Three

Chapter 574: All Three

The new arrivals were moved without incident, and Dominic returned home to take his turn to witness weddings.

There were still many questions from the Royals about the whole situation, and Dominic didn’t miss the fact that there were soldiers sent to watch him and Trionne, who was happily snacking in the front pews and cheering on the couples.

The old Techno Witch had absolutely no concerns about the situation. Even if it was true that Shersdonia was trying to take over Dagos, that wasn’t anything to do with her directly.

It was just political.

The one they were truly concerned about was Dominic, as it still wasn’t decided whether he had been trying to build political power to break away from Cygnia or overthrow the King. Or if he was simply taking in refugees to build Wistover as an economic powerhouse.

The gathered nations actually wanted that outcome, so that this would become a trading and manufacturing hub with easy access to all of their capitals.

Just not a rebellious one that might endanger the stability of the region.

Dominic was roused from sleep the next morning by light streaming in the window, as the curtains were thrown wide by the maids.

"Lord Dominic, you are needed again. There have been... developments."

Dominic sighed. "Alright, what is it this morning? More airships? An invading army? Roaming monsters?"

"All three, depending on who you ask."

Dominic laughed, and saw the amusement in the maid’s eyes over her veil.

"There is a mage tower waiting at the gates to the Manor with a few more than a thousand Trolls, and I think that they’re throwing a party.

There is soup."

Dominic laughed as he took the clothes she handed him. If there was soup, it was definitely a party, or about to become one.

Wilkes, of the Royal Guard, was entertaining the trolls when Dominic arrived at the gate. The mages were waiting patiently outside the wall, where they could safely open a portal if they needed.

They had heard a lot about Wistover before they chose to come here, but there were no guarantees until they had actually spoken to Dominic.

"Prince Wavemates?" One of the Elder mages asked, clearly confused.

"I am Dominic Wavemates, Duke of Wistover. Prince might technically be correct, as I have married a Princess of Cygnia, but only in that sense." Dominic explained carefully.

The old mage smiled and shrugged. "That’s enough for us. We were told that there is a truly magic friendly enclave with good land.

That part is important to the trolls."

"Understandable. That is the goal we have for Wistover. We have magitech factories all over the city, one mage tower already, and our fair share of magic users living in town.

Did you have plans to erect a tower, or did you plan to move into town?

A day’s walk north, there is a village of Trolls already established if your companions want to join them. You can set up there as well if you prefer.

But it might be more convenient to have the mage Clan settled closer to town."

"Might I ask what Mage Sect has moved in first?"

"The Duskblade Sect."

"Oh, it’s one that we know. Well, that’s not bad, then. Will it be an issue if the Trolls continue to live near the city?"

"The trolls want to live in a city?" Dominic asked, not believing them.

"Not exactly. They’ve been with us for some time, and they work as unofficial members of our Sect. We specialize in healing and potion making. The trolls are essential to our work."

"Interesting choice. We have a small witch coven who also specializes in potions. But we can always use more healers. I think that I know just the spot. On the other side of the river, not far from the airship works, is an old Barony Estate.

The house has been demolished, as have most of the farm houses and other buildings. But the fields are intact.

I am willing to assign that land to your Sect, if you would like to build the tower there. It’s only a few kilometres out of town, but it will be among the last areas developed.

We are saving that region for airship production, some farms and other industries right now, so there is no other housing planned on that side of the river."

Dominic brought out the map and showed them the location.

It was actually more than a few kilometres. But you would be able to see the airship hangar from a mage tower built there, so they weren’t horribly remote. Close enough that they could easily bring potions into town, anyhow.

"We have bus routes being developed, and we plan to improve the roads for faster travel. It’s not a bad spot." He added, hoping that they could claim all these mages and trolls.

Most of the trolls were smaller varieties, between waist and shoulder-high on Dominic. There were a few other Mountain Trolls, who were having a deep and introspective conversation with Dave about what they called ’soup science’. But it definitely wasn’t a combat force.

Other than the hundred and some mages.

Behind Dominic, someone cleared their throat, and he turned to see a sleepy Prince Fahad walking his way.

"I believe that we went over the need to vet all the new arrivals. Even if they come with soup, we still need to know where they came from, why, and if they’re a threat to the status of Wistover as a peaceful international transfer point." The Prince reminded him.

Dave patted him on the shoulder. "We asked all the questions. They come from the desert in Axbridge, The Prescom Land in the far southwestern desert.

They like to put cumin and peppers in their soup.

They used to hunt monsters and sell potions to Wigravia and Burlish. But they didn’t have good fields. Too much sand.

Did you know that when it’s windy, you have to cook in a tent so you don’t get sand in the soup?

This is Larry, and Larry, and Larry, and Dave, and Jenna, and Olive, and Potion, and Larry..."

"Stop, stop. You can introduce all the Larry and Dave trolls as a group." Fahad insisted, knowing that it was pointless to try to stop the big Troll.

"Oh, that’s easy. There are a bunch of Larry and only a couple Daves. They have lots of ladies, though. They even have some barbarian women among the mages.

Imagine that, Barbarian magic users. That’s even more rare than a Larry that doesn’t like soup."
