The Young Master in the Shadows

Chapter 510: ANSWER!

Chapter 510: ANSWER!

“Had breakfast yet?” Margret asked as she walked into the living room in the morning and noticed how Victor sat there on the couch watching a turned off TV with Alpha who stood behind him. That girl had been clearly forced to accompany him, brooding all night!

“No, I decided to eat later when the girls wake up… “ he said absentmindedly.

“You seem troubled.”

“Yeah… Just got some new info from Lily, and it’s a mess…” he said. “She seemed to have regained her memories from the other timeline.”

“Ho… The same as Mona?”

“Yeah!” he said, making Alpha, who was hearing this for the first time, gasp. He ignored her. “She used to be some big shot… “

“What a mess…” Margret quickly sat beside him. She lay down, then lay her head on his lap.

“Yeah… All our old plans might not be sufficient, and the enemies are too many to count, and too scheming to guard against!” He summarized it for her, ignoring Alpha, who stood behind him, and she wasn’t any help.

“Who are those enemies?” she asked.

“... Some Time traveling Bitch Empress who seems to be controlling everything behind the scenes and her name can’t be mentioned…” he said. “Adding to that, there are the Lords, Fate, Blood, Poison, and Oblivion… The Dark Chamber… The Heavenly sect, mainly Caspian and his gang… The player council in general and the Oligarchs, who each have a hidden agenda, especially the von Zwei family… And then there are the demons, both known and unknown!” Victor said. “She also mentioned something about the 3 horrors or something like that…”

“Horrors?”

“Yeah, there are three that would cause the world to almost go instinctively… First, The Doom Bringer. Which is apparently a hive mind zombie fungus or something that would affect humans and even demons… There is Artilian the Rule, who seems to be some crazy runaway System Administrator who had his own agenda… And lastly, there is the Astral Horror… You don’t need to worry about that one for now, I will check it later to see if it can be used…”

“Oh.. Could it be… Astran?”

“It is Astran!” he said as he brushed her hair with his fingers.

“Cool!”

Alpha, who heard them, wanted to ask who the fuck Astran was, but decided not to. Victor would definitely make her do something inhuman in exchange for that info!

“Anyways… All of those guys are not our enemies in the traditional manner, but could definitely be someday!” he said as he twirled a lock of her crimson hair around his finger. “Zoe, Mona, Kuu, and even Lily might no longer be 100% reliable…” he said. He had a feeling that this was the case ever since Mona recognized Lily, and now he confirmed his guess.

“Who is Kuu?”

“...” he just pinched her cheek.

“Whatever... Just make sure she is vaccinated before bringing her home...” she pouted.

“No need to be salty, she is a nice girl! In fact, she should be Alpha's distant cousin or something!”

“What?” both girls asked. Alpha was a moment away from cursing out loudly. First Hana, now this Kuu. Did he plan to bring her entire family to be a part of his harem? She couldn't help but imagine last night's scene. Victor with her great great.... She quickly shook her head to erase the disturbing thought.

“Will tell you about her later,” he sighed. “Anyways, I don’t think they would betray me, but from how Lily talked about that Bitch impresses with reverence, I think it would be better if we made a backup plan!” he said. “I have seen how the Lords worked in the other world, and those guys really know how to create a cult!”

“Oh… You have that nutcracker cult on your own…” Margret commented. “Delta had already established three bases! The girls you helped at the cauldron also contacted us, and they made their own base…”

“... This is too little!” Victor said. “Cults need time to grow! If anything were to happen soon, they would be completely useless!” he said.

“Yeah… We can’t attract unwarranted attention!” Margret nodded. “What about the Tomficiation?”

“Most scions might be a part of that woman’s plan… So we might need to halt it…” he said.

“Damn… Talking about short-lived plans… And I had been looking forward to it! What a bummer…” Margret complained as she enjoyed his caressing. “Can’t we use it on non-scions and non-key personnel? That way, we might be able to have a wider range of movement!"

“I think it is possible… “ he nodded. “But now, getting that last piece needed for it to work is a little problematic…”

“What is that ‘Piece’ anyway?” Margret asked.

“It is a broken puppet that has a function that allows it to store Authority points and level up. Basically, act as a fake player,” Victor explained. “In my other timeline, the von Krone discovered it by chance and managed to fix it to use it as a palace guardian by connecting it to an Edict shard… Its main function is to allow the said shard to save Skills that need a body as a prerequisite!”

“Like your blood slave skill?”

“Yes!” He nodded. The problem with edict shards was that they don’t have blood and that they don’t level up. So the Master seal skill that required both of those things to register, then expand its capacity, couldn’t really work before! The puppet was the solution!

“Does it have blood?” Margret asked.

“It doesn’t, but the system doesn’t know that… You don’t need to concern yourself with this, Zolan should be able to pull it off!” he quickly said. She was the one who created that guardian in the other timeline after all! “The problem with it is that at the moment it is in the von Krone vault. I wanted Lily to use her family request to get it for me, but she opted to go for a chance in the tournament instead!” he said with annoyance.

“Didn’t you already give her one of the Jade Skeleton keys?” Margret asked.

“It is not about that… She might not need a key to enter anyway, now that she has her memories back. Using the system node, she would just need to press a key when the dungeon appears!" he said with annoyance. “According to Lily, her System node access was very similar to that of Alpha, only with a few extra functions. She could easily locate, enter, and exit the dungeon without opening them. She can also issue system missions, but she had to pay for the reward out of her own pocket,” he explained.

“Wow…”

“Yeah… Apparently, she wants to go to the tournament to find out who from her old pals from the Zero timeline would be there and try to recruit them!” he complained.

“Girls who think for themselves are annoying!” Margret confessed, making Alpha curse at her silently.

“I know, right…” Victor nodded. “At least she was sensitive enough to get me a chance to trade for it; those von Krone idiots who don't know it's worth yet will soon come to me to ask for a Davitothak feather!”

“She told them about your huge Cock?” she exclaimed, making Alpha blush a little, remembering what she saw last night. DAMN IT! SHE WAS TALKING ABOUT THE DAMN PERV ROOSTER! WHY DID SHE HAVE TO USE THAT WORD!

“Apparently, they figured it out on their own! She couldn’t deny it!” Victor sighed.

“Who could…”

“...”

Knock Knock…

A young maid knocked on the door, then walked in and bowed.

“Blacky, what’s wrong?” Margert asked. This maid had become her personal attendant lately.

“There might be visitors heading this way!!” Black Summer replied politely. “Lady Lara and her maids, in addition to some women that I don’t recognize!” she said, presenting a Security Tablet to Victor.

In it, there was footage of a huge SUV that was almost a mile away from the Mansion. Although Aerith’s face was not visible, Victor could tell it was her from her body shape.

This was all Thanks to the new security installed lately. With the Mansion’s high position overlooking the city, it was possible to monitor the road from afar!

“Hsssssssssssssssssss…………” Victor gasped.

“Who are they?” Margret raised one eyebrow

“One is my new wife, the one beside her might be her sister… It might also be her master…” he swallowed. The cars had shaded windows, so although the cameras used advanced polarizers to go through them, the photo was not clear. “Just in case, deactivate all Edict shards and protection arrays, and all maids to disarm themselves!” Victor quickly said. “That woman might be able to see something!” he quickly said.

“You heard him, enter extreme mode 5! Tell the other!” Margret commanded as she sat up.

“Wait… Keep the enemy detection array on… We can’t appear to be too defenseless!" Victor said.

“Affirmative…” the little girl nodded, then, after a slight bow, she quickly withdrew.

“Wake up the girls and tell them to dress up…” he told Margret. “And you… Leave the mansion through the back door and go shopping for a while!” Victor turned to Alpha and said. “If you get found out, I will sell you to some brothel!”

“...FUCK YOU… DO YOU THINK I AM LIKE THAT SISSY ALEX TO SCARE ME WITH THAT!” Alpha silently cursed as she turned and left. She didn’t dare to disobey him!

***

“Meh…” Lyra said as soon as the car reached the mansion, and then, after confirming their identity with the bald guard outside, they began to climb the mountain. “It is nothing compared to Mother’s palace!”

“Esteemed brother’s mansion is his first one! I am sure he will build a bigger one in the future!” Lara, who sat in the front seat, couldn’t help but reply to her. Ever since she met Lyra yesterday, she couldn’t help but keep arguing with her!

“Whatever…” Lyra looked out of the window.

“Due to how modern society works, the size of an estate is no longer that important!” Serina, who was next to Lyra and Aerith, explained softly. “People no longer had a lot of servants, horses, or large harems that needed a lot of estates to house!”

Unlawfully taken from Royal Road, this story should be reported if seen on Amazon.

“True… Mother had a lot of dragons…” Lyra nodded.

“...” Lara couldn’t argue with that. It was very shocking to her and her friends when Aerith told them about that other world she grew up in. She had longed to live in such a fantasy world!

Serina rolled her eyes. Children…

Soon the car stopped, and George, who was tasked to drive them to keep their identity a secret for now, quickly stepped out and then rushed to open the front door.

They all descended one by one. First, Lara, who sat next to George, then Serina, Aerith, and Lyra. Then finally El, Yin, and Ren, who sat in the back.

The first thing that greeted them was the sight of a few little girls in red maid dresses sweeping the floor.

Then another little maid in a black dress stepped forward and bowed to them. “Welcome… The young master is waiting for you!” she said politely, inviting them. “Uncle George, the young master also wants to talk to you…” she said to George, who planned to go back into the car.

The maids knew him well as he delivered Lara a few times to the mansion to spend time with Elize. It was Elena’s idea.

“Oh…” George nodded and followed them in.

“Tsk…” “Tsk……” “Tsk……..” Lyra kept clicking her tongue as she walked and looked around, watching the maids. She was now sure of it… VICTOR WAS A PERVERT!

Aerith, who walked behind her, just adjusted her fashionable hat to cover her horn and said nothing, but she was also cursing at Victor. If not for Theodore informing her that he was also back at his mansion, she would have still been under the illusion that he was with his master. Getting worried over nothing!

DAMN IT!

The bastard must have hurried here to sleep with his wives!

Knowing that Lara was coming here this morning after she overheard her asking her father for permission, she asked to tag along. Her great-grandmother, Serina, who seemed to appear out of thin air and learn of this, suddenly declared that she also wanted to meet Victor and tagged along.

Lyra caught them as they were leaving and just jumped into the car.

Soon, they entered the living room where Victor stood next to four pretty women in pretty dresses. One of them seemed to be a little younger, but you can’t tell a girl’s age by her looks…

“Esteemed BROTHER!” Lara, who was the first to enter, said she bowed politely, followed by her little girl's entourage.

“Lara! I missed you!” Victor immediately stepped forward and hugged his little sister hard, making her push him away with a blush.

“Brother… Not in front of others…” she complained. The girl seemed to be going into her rebellious age.

“I know… I know…” he shuddered as he let go. “Aerith! You are here!” Victor exclaimed as he turned to face his horny wife. Her horn was hidden, but she was horny nonetheless!

“Hmph...” She looked away.

“I see that little Lyra is here too…”

“Little! Your mother is the one…”

“Ehm….” Serina interrupted the foul-mouthed little girl. “You must be Victor….”

“And you are?” Victor frowned as he didn’t know her.

“Young master Victor, this is Lady Serina from the Heavinly sect. She is Lady Rosette's grandmother, and your esteemed sister Lady Alice’s Master!” George, who had stayed in the back previously, wondering why the little girls were not holding their usual batons, took a step forward and introduced himself.

“OH! GREAT-GRANDMA IN LAW!” he said with a large smile as he immediately stepped forward to hug Serina.

She sidestepped him. “No need for that…” she said as she inspected him from head to toe, fixing her eyes on his status screen. On his ‘fake’ sub class, to be exact. DEMON HUNTER! “I am just here to get to know you and ask you a few questions about your master!” she said.

“Why don’t we do that after grabbing something to eat…”

“I am in a hurry as I have prior arrangements, so while we leave the girls to get to know each other, let’s find a place to talk!” she interrupted as she gave all the girls a quick glance. Her eyes hovered around Aria and Mira for an extra second, but that’s it.

“Sure…” Victor nodded. “Margret… Why don’t you show Aerith around? I will see you at the dining table…” he said before gesturing for Serina to follow him.

He naturally led her to his study.

“So, what do you want to know?” Victor asked as soon as he shut the door, then turned to watch her stand by his desk and casually open up a random folder without shame.

She threw it away with disgust after taking one look and comprehending what she just saw. “This thing…”

“My wife runs a factory…” he said, looking at the ‘experimental data’ report that fell to the ground. “Interested in trying the prototype?" he asked. The document was a design for a new XXL toy belonging to Margret, who was the one using this study for the last few weeks.

“...” Serina finally realized why Lyra hated Victor. “No need…”

“Too old ha for that stuff ha…”

“...” she glared at him. “If you don’t want to lose it, you'd better watch that filthy tongue of your lad… ” she warned without smiling.

“I always keep watch over it or else I might not know where it went…”

BANG

The armchair next to Victor split in two and fell apart. Serina didn’t even move! Well, she did, but other than Victor, wouldn’t have seen her draw that from her storage ring, swing it, then put it back.

“...”

“...”

“Already planning to kill your Great-Grandson-in-law?” he asked.

“You think I don’t dare to?” she asked, raising one eyebrow. It had been a while since she had last been challenged.

“You can surely dare, but you can’t afford to…”

“You think I would be scared of your stupid family?”

“No, but you would surely be scared of my master!” he said. It was clear to him why she was here, and from the first moment, he decided to play his arrogant young master card! This way, she would have no way of knowing if he was hiding anything or not!

“...” Serina scowled. “I still don’t know who your master is!”

“Eh… But he told me you do!” Victor acted as if he were in a pinch for the first time.

“He told you about me?”

“Serina Divinerose, Second degree baroness from the Heavenly empire… No idea what that is, but you seem like some real bigshot that I shouldn’t anger!”

“...” she squinted her eyes. “Then you should have been more respectful toward me!”

“I am… You hadn’t seen my disrespectful side yet!” he smiled. This time, with a hidden threat behind it. “He did say that you will come to see me… Didn’t expect it to happen too soon as I didn’t know you were related to Aerith… that bastard master of mine definitely knew…” he complained.

“...” she raised one eyebrow. It seemed Aerith really got this guy’s real character. He acted like a fool on the outside, but was a hidden tiger. Well, she could now see how this guy was her favorite disciple’s brother. “You never said, who is your master… I couldn’t recognize him from the description Aerith provided!”

“To tell the truth, I have no idea either…” Victor chuckled dryly. “But I can tell you something about him, he only allowed me to say it to you under the condition that you can’t tell anyone!”

“...” she nodded. “Is this place monitored?” she asked as she activated her lie detection skill.

“Not at all!” he lied. That skill is passive, so it didn’t affect him. He just had to press NO to the prompt that the system threw at him.

“Then speak…” she said as she inspected Victor’s movements.

“… He said that he is not from this timeline… A time traveler, and that he was here to stop the demons from taking over this world!” he said. Now that he knew about Lily’s Zero timeline, it would be perfectly logical to make his mysterious master also a time traveler! “To tell the truth, I didn’t believe him at first, but he doesn’t need to lie…” he said as he sat on the couch.

“Did he have proof?” She frowned as she sat on the desk and crossed her hands. Then, remembering what was on that document, she quickly stood back again and dusted her robes. Who knew what kind of filthy things were done on this fucking desk!

“I asked the same question, he said no… His loop was so large that too many things changed! A full 1000 years old, according to him!” Victor shrugged. “He just said that some bitch came here before him and that he didn’t trust her…”

“Oh… Did he tell you to tell me anything?” she squinted her eyes.

“Yeah, a few messages…. “ Victor said. “The first is about Aerith, he said that she has some parasite in her that the Storm Lord put there on purpose, and that you might be able to help…” he added worriedly.

“So it was that Storm lord…. “ she paused as if she already knew. “I am already aware, will look into it once we go to the Heavenly sect!”

“Ah… You plan to take Aerith there?” he exclaimed. If Serina were able to cure Aerith, he wouldn’t mind her going there, as he was not % 100% sure he could do it yet. In fact, his backup plan that he told Emira about was to take Aerith to the Heavenly Sect himself, where he would be able to use the Glass Sarcofigus to heal her… He also had the option to try to steal that thing, but it would be very risky!

“If I need to get that thing out of her, I will have to…” Serina didn’t explain further.

“What… Really? That would be great!” Victor sighed in relief. He was not acting.

“Yeah… What else?” Serina asked nonchalantly.

“He said that he suspects that Caspian from the Heavenly sect is a demon… “ Victor said. “I think this might be true… that bastard dared to steal my wife on my wedding day… Only demons do that!”

“...” she rolled her eyes, but didn’t seem surprised at all. “Anything else?”

“No… Wait… Right… He mumbled something about some Fate lord being too stupid for his own good or something….”

“...All those who dare play with fate are like that!” she said. “Bringing their own doom!”

Victor almost gave away his disguise, hearing her. He had to check all his skills to make sure his real class was hidden, as her words could appear like a warning to him.

Thankfully, there was nothing wrong, so she was either making that comment about the Fate lord or she was suspecting him of knowing something.

“My master said the same, ” Victor said, deciding to try and dig deeper. “No idea what he meant though…”

“What was he talking about when he said it?” Srina frowned.

“About me… He said someone deliberately used my fate to entangle a lot of threads and that it is all for naught, whatever that meant… Can you tell me?”

“Oh… This is not something you should delve into… “ she said, not sounding surprised at all. “What else can you tell me about your master?” she said, changing the subject.

“He is a demon hunter, very strong, very smart, and has a thing for older women… He keeps repeating that he fucked so many girls in his lifetime that finding a girl not from his offspring had become a chore! In the other world, he used that excuse to visit a brothel whenever he entered a new town!” Victor sighed.

“...” Serina almost rolled her eyes. “What else?”

“Ah… About?”

“Your master… What else can you tell me about him?”

“I told you, I don’t know that much… He likes spicy food, he hates liars, and girls in the brothel used to complain that he was just too big!”

“... Is that all you have?” she frowned. Her lie-detecting skill was telling her that Victor was really telling the truth!

“I know some other things, but my master told me never to say those…” Victor scratched his head, blushing a bit as he diverted his eyes to the side.

WHY WAS HE BLUSHING LIKE SOME DAUGHTER-IN-LAW BEING ASKED ABOUT HER WEDDING NIGHT?

Serina didn’t even dare to go there. She heard about some depraved men's bonding ritual before…

“When did you get that class, Demon hunter?”

“You know about that!” he exclaimed.

“Yeah…”

“It was right after I got there, he made me go through some strange ritual of beheading demons... I don't remember much, though, as I was made to drink something...”

“Typical... ” she sighed. “Then... What did he make you do when you left alone after entering this world back?” Serina asked.

“Ah, well, I can’t say that…” he hesitated, looking around for a moment before saying.

“ANSWER! WHAT DID YOUR MASTER DO AFTER RETURNING TO THIS WORLD!”

WARNING… SKILL ‘IRRESISTIBLE COMMAND’ ACTIVATED

INSUFFICIENT AUTHORITY

ALLOW?

<YES> <NO>

Victor hesitated. Pressing YES would make him answer, but choosing NO might cause her active skill to return a failure message.

Wait… He didn’t need to press anything. Just ignoring the screen would work for now!

As soon as he made that choice, a black fate thread began to appear around his neck.

DEATH!

WHAT!

It took him a moment to realize it after noticing how Serina’s eyes kept looking up and down; he knew that she was watching her Mana indicator. Right! This woman’s system should be the updated type, not the outdated one that those world users had!

Unlike the lie detection that she had been using until now, and that Victor could simply ignore, as it was a reactive skill. The moment her Irresistible command skill activated, her Mana should go down, so if it didn’t, it would mean something went wrong!

Damn it. That’s why he hated dealing with old foggies. Each one was an old fox that learnt every trick in the book!

What to do now?

No wait… Her question was not that hard to answer; no need to be in a pinch, he just needed to choose his world carefully!

He pressed <yes> with the answer in his mind. The black thread disappeared almost immediately.

“He changed into my shape and came to my mansion to sleep with my wives….” Victor heard himself answer that he had no resistance at all. Thankfully, the world had already been prepared in his mind, so it went smoothly! If he were to say any more, he would have to reveal what happened with Emira… Thankfully, he didn’t need to…

“Hssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss………………….” Serina gasped. She couldn’t help it.

“Did he…”

“...” Victor was glaring at her angrily. “You…” he was fuming as if he had just realized that she used some skill on him.

“....” she sighed, deciding that she already knew everything she needed to know about Victory. “I will keep your secret!” she said. “FORGET ABOUT MY QUESTION AND YOU ANSWER…” she commanded.

Again…

WARNING… SKILL ‘IRRESISTIBLE COMMAND’ ACTIVATED

INSUFFICIENT AUTHORITY

ALLOW?

<YES> <NO>

Damn it… That was why his strategy of staying in the shadows was the optimal one. He would not need to deal with troublesome people.

Reminding himself that he was about to forget something and that he should check it in the recording later, he pressed <Yes>

Almost immediately, he completely forgot what they had just discussed! Just remembering everything else from her skill activation to the death thread!

“That would be all… Make sure to say goodbye to Aerith, the two of you might not get to meet for some time…” she lied. She planned to never let Aerith meet this depraved guy ever again!

“Ah… Ok…” he said as he nervously watched her walk toward the door, then quickly leave. This was scary...

Victor, who was planning to review the recording to see what he forgot, paused for a moment, then decided to follow her out. Acting as if he didn’t notice when Serina returned to walk right behind him while using an artifact to hide herself!

BITCH! He was the only one who should be allowed to do that!
