Chapter 1045: Escape

(Planet Granada, Leo’s POV)

Leo had no delusions about the true extent of his strength, nor about the very specific circumstances that had allowed him to barely defeat Raymond in their previous battle..... as he understood perfectly well that his victory against Raymond had not been the result of overwhelming power, but rather timing, opportunity, and a series of desperate risks that had very nearly killed him.

Which was exactly why, when he saw Clarence and Terrence tearing toward him through Granada’s raging storm like two furious meteors, Leo did not waste even a single thought on victory, as his only goal became survival.

*Shinggg*

In one fluid motion, Leo pulled both daggers free from his utility belt while activating [Enhance], the skill surging through his muscles as his body tensed for the inevitable impact.

*SLAM*

Clarence arrived first.

The Demi-God’s sword flashing through the storm as he unleashed [Tidal Cleave], the blade dragging a massive arc of compressed oceanic pressure behind it while the surrounding rain split apart under the sheer force of the strike.

*SKADOOSH*

The move approached Leo with threatening intensity, as Leo aligned all his muscles correctly to block it.

*CLANG*

The impact detonated through his arms like an explosion as the force behind the strike blasted him backward instantly.

*BOOM*

Leo shot across Granada’s storm-filled sky like a cannonball while the ocean below roared violently beneath the pressure of the collision.

However, before he could even have a single moment to recover, he felt a sudden pressure above his neck, as [Sixth Sense] alerted him to the threat of Terrence above.

"DIE!"

Terrence roared as divine energy flooded his blade and he activated [Heavenfall Rend], the attack tearing downward through the storm like a collapsing pillar of lightning.

*SKKKRRTTSHHH*

Leo’s eyes sharpened.

[Fade Step].

His body flickered sideways in a blur of distorted space just as the blade cleaved through the air where his head had been a fraction of a second earlier.

*CRASH*

The strike continued downward into the ocean beneath them as a massive wall of water erupted upward from the impact, the violent pressure splitting the sea apart like a bomb had detonated beneath its surface.

*KABOOM*

Leo twisted midair as he stabilized himself above the churning waves.

"Yeah..."

He muttered under his breath.

"...this is bad."

He said, as he mapped the battlefield using [Absolute Vision], and realized that Clarence was coming at him yet again.

The Demi-God tore through the storm with terrifying speed while activating [Maelstrom Drive], his aura spinning violently around him as the winds and rain of the planet began spiraling toward his blade like a forming cyclone.

*BAMZZZTTTT*

Leo reacted instantly.

[StormFlash Traverse].

His body vanished in a burst of speed as he shot sideways across the battlefield, reappearing dozens of meters away while Clarence’s blade carved a spiraling tunnel through the storm where he had been.

But the respite lasted less than a heartbeat, as Terrence closed the distance again immediately.

This time, the Demi God did not strike with his sword, as instead he drove his leg forward, divine energy surging through his body, as he unleashed the move [Leviathan Kick].

*BOOOM*

The attack crashed toward Leo with enough force to flatten a mountain, as Leo raised both daggers in a desperate block.

*PUSHHH*

The kick smashed into his guard as the impact sent him spiraling across the sky again, the shockwave rippling across Granada’s ocean while lightning cracked violently overhead.

Pain shot through his arms, as even with [Enhance] reinforcing his body, the difference in raw strength between them was overwhelming, as Leo quickly realized that he was a far cry away from holding his own against Demi-Gods.

’As I am, I cannot win this fight.

They’re both faster than me.

Stronger than me.

And they are not underestimating me either.

This isn’t a game or a performance for them.

They want to kill me.

And they want to do it at any cost necessary!’

Leo thought, as he let out a strained breath.

"...Fantastic."

He muttered, as Clarence and Terrence attacked again.

This time from both sides.

Clarence activated [Riptide Sever], his blade sweeping horizontally toward Leo’s neck while dragging a violent pressure wave through the air, as Terrence simultaneously launched [Stormbreaker Thrust] from behind, the pointed extension of his blade attempting to pin Leo between the two attacks.

Leo’s mind raced.

He could not keep up with this for long.

Not without starting to take serious damage.

Which was why, he decided to find a way to get out of here as soon as possible.

[Fade Step].

His body flickered again as Clarence’s blade skimmed past his throat by the width of a breath.

[StormFlash Traverse].

Leo shot upward through the storm as Terrence’s strike barely missed beneath him, the two Demi-Gods nearly colliding with each other as Leo escaped the killing zone by the narrowest of margins.

However, unfortunately for him, the duo recovered instantly, both heads snapping upward toward him, as they launched themselves after him again.

As despite the unexpected set back, they seemed to not be fazed at all.

However, fortunately for him, he could finally foresee a way out alive.

As he came up with a clever solution to get out of this mess.

"It will be a shame if I have to leave Granada today without getting my hands on the water.

However, life definitely comes first over greed."

Leo calculated coldly, as he prepared to use the ace in his hole.

[Parallel Processing]

[Thousand Phantom Slashes]

By coupling Thousand Phantom Slashes with Parallel Processing, Leo achieved two outcomes in one.

As not only did he successfully shift from defense to offense for the first time in this fight, forcing both Clarence and Terrence to take a moment to block the incoming attacks before continuing to pursue him.

But also successfully managed to use one of the slashes to open a Fourth Dimensional Portal, through which he escaped immediately, using the single moment of separation he created to be the opening that carried him out, as he somehow scurried out of Granada unharmed.
