Chapter 1391: In the name of my Father
Chapter 1391: In the name of my Father
The higher the realm, the more terrifying an Over-tier warrior became.
In King Orthelius’s eyes, if Kaelen could fight an Arch Lord to a standstill while still in the Legendary Realm, his potential upon ascending was limitless. If he became an Arch Lord, the Silver-Eyed Tribe would have to bow their heads and walk softly around him.
If we sit back and watch, Emeric’s territory will have a new master soon. And we might be trading a manageable enemy for a nightmare.
Watching Kaelen trade blows with Emeric, a flicker of admiration rose in the King’s chest. He appreciated strength.
"Your Majesty, he cannot be allowed to live," another Arch Lord cut in, extinguishing Orthelius’s budding appreciation.
"Unless..." Marielle, the King’s uncle, interjected smoothly. "Unless the boy is willing to marry into our tribe. Think about it. He fights this hard to avenge his mother’s honor. That shows loyalty. That shows heart."
Marriage alliances. It was the oldest trick in the book for absorbing dangerous bloodlines, and Marielle was a master of it.
"It’s worth a shot," Orthelius conceded, his eyes narrowing. "But if he refuses? We must be ready to kill him instantly. And then we wipe out the Dark Butterfly Clan. If they can breed one monster like this, they might breed another."
Orthelius nodded. He had plenty of daughters—some talented, some beautiful. Sacrificing one or two to secure a living weapon like Kaelen was a bargain.
"Your Majesty," the third Arch Lord, Darian, spoke up. He was staring at the battle with a mix of shock and naked greed. "Look closer. Emeric is a Dark Fiend. His race is practically immune to physical trauma. But his original body? It was pulverized."
"Whatever technique that boy is using to bypass physical immunity... we need it," Darian hissed. "If we can recruit him, the Silver-Eyed Kingdom must acquire that power."
Greed flared in the eyes of all three leaders.
"Prepare the suppression barrier," Orthelius commanded. "If he refuses the marriage, we use the Soul-Searching Arts. Rip the secret from his mind before we kill him. Do not let him escape."
Meanwhile, the duel had reached its fever pitch.
Kaelen was fighting like a demon, fueled by [Heart of the Titan] and [Instant Impact]. But reality was harsh. He was a Legendary warrior fighting an Upper Arch Lord who had summoned his Body of Faith.
Emeric was playing the long game. He was letting Kaelen exhaust himself against his spectral defenses.
BOOM!
Emeric’s Body of Faith manifested a mountain of void energy, slamming it down on Kaelen and burying him in the earth once more.
"Kaelen! You are strong, but you cannot win this!" Emeric shouted, his voice regaining some composure as he watched the dust settle. "You destroyed my physical body. Isn’t that enough? Your mother’s honor is clean!"
"Look around you, boy! The Silver-Eyed Kingdom is watching us like vultures! They want us both dead!"
Emeric pointed a spectral finger at the hovering trio. "Whether you win or I win, we’re meat on their table. Why not join forces? Together, we can carve a path out of here!"
Orthelius twitched. Emeric was right. Losing half his physical form was a far heavier price than Sophia’s twenty years of seclusion. If Kaelen had any sense of self-preservation, he would take the deal.
"Kaelen, do not listen to his lies!" Orthelius shouted, projecting his voice across the battlefield. "The Silver-Eyed Kingdom has no quarrel with you or the Dark Butterfly Clan!"
"Once this war ends, we will not trouble you," Orthelius lied smoothly. "In fact, my advisors and I were just discussing a proposal. If you are willing, we would be honored to unite our peoples through marriage."
"A hero of your caliber deserves the finest maidens of our race!"
Orthelius glared at Emeric, mentally cursing him.
That slippery bastard.
Emeric was trying to frame his crippling injury as a voluntary sacrifice to end the feud. Despicable.
Orthelius needed to disrupt Emeric’s narrative. He was throwing the olive branch not out of kindness, but out of calculation. The Silver-Eyed Kingdom was about to become neighbors with the Dark Butterfly Clan. It was better to own the guard dog than to fight it.
But both Arch Lords—the desperate fiend and the calculating king—had made a critical error.
They underestimated the Stoneheart bloodline.
They didn’t understand that for a direct descendant of Orion, fighting wasn’t just about strategy or survival. It was a trance. When Kaelen entered this state, he was no longer just a boy seeking revenge. He was a vessel for the Titan’s will—a will that fundamentally refused to accept defeat.
Kaelen didn’t hear the offers of marriage. He didn’t hear the pleas for alliance. He just felt the fire. And he let it consume him.
"In the name of my Father..."
Kaelen’s voice rose from the depths of the crater, low and raspy, vibrating through the ground.
"Your child, Kaelen... offers this sacrifice!"
Deep within his genetic code, another lock clicked open.
[Divine Art: Blood Sacrifice]
It wasn’t the same ritual Orion had used. Orion sacrificed to unknown, cosmic entities. Kaelen was sacrificing to something far more tangible. He was sacrificing to his father.
Titanion Realm. Stoneheart City.
Orion, seated on his throne in a meditative trance, suddenly opened his eyes.
He uncurled his massive palm. There, hovering just above his skin, was a single drop of golden blood.
It was Kaelen’s blood. And it was also his own.
The droplet pulsed with intense heat. It contained more than just genetic material; it held the majority of Kaelen’s life force. The boy was burning his own candle at both ends, offering his very essence to the Titan King in exchange for power.
"Reckless child," Orion grunted, though a faint smile touched his lips.
He was surprised by the sheer ferocity of the boy’s resolve. Sacrificing one’s life force was a one-way ticket for most. It showed a terrifying will to win.
"Fine," Orion murmured, closing his hand around the droplet. "Since you’ve gone this far, let’s see what you can do with a real weapon."
Orion closed his eyes.
Through the invisible tether of blood and faith, he poured a surge of his own Divine Power back into the void, aiming it straight at the soul calling his name.
