Chapter 1203: Chapter 44: Overlooking All Living Beings (Part 1)

In the corridor, Chen Mingming walked neither fast nor slow.

The classroom was on the seventh floor of the teaching building. He saw Zhao Le heading towards the elevator, and when he looked down, he happened to see Zhao Le’s back as he walked out of the teaching building.

But just as he arrived in front of the elevator, he unexpectedly saw a woman.

“You are…”

The blonde-haired, blue-eyed woman before him made Chen Mingming take a second look, as if she were a perfect piece of art… This woman was from that place, the servant girl beside the man who sold the handgun.

“Mr. Chen, do you have time? My master wishes to invite Mr. Chen to a meeting.”

“At this time?” Chen Mingming looked at the maid before him with some surprise.

Last time, he took the initiative to test if he could see that boss, but this time, the boss was actively seeking him… This made Chen Mingming unsure of the other’s intention.

The maid smiled, as if waiting for Chen Mingming’s response.

Chen Mingming had no choice but to nod… It was clear that he couldn’t resist that mysterious power, “Where is he?”

“Please follow me.” The maid gestured, and the elevator door behind her opened automatically.

Chen Mingming walked straight in, his expression calm.

The maid followed him into the elevator, and with a tone of admiration, she said, “Mr. Chen is truly a composed person.”

Chen Mingming replied indifferently, “Maybe I’m just a bit slow in reacting, or maybe I’m just not good at expressing my emotions.”

The maid chuckled lightly, “Even your heartbeat is very calm.”

Chen Mingming remained silent.

The elevator quickly stopped, and the moment the door opened, what Chen Mingming saw was not the first floor of the teaching building… but the lobby of that shop he had been to.

Chen Mingming liked the atmosphere of this shop, as if it were a place of peace found amidst the bustling city. Of course, if one were to speak of quietude, it couldn’t match the ancient house in the deep mountains, but naturally, it lacked the tranquility in motion that this place embodied.

This was the impression this shop gave him… He couldn’t help but yearn a bit.

“Did you call me… for something?” Chen Mingming sat down, furrowing his brows for a rare moment.

He heard Luo Qiu at this time put down the cup of red tea in his hand, smile slightly, and say, “Do you remember the gamble I mentioned last time?”

Chen Mingming nodded.

Boss Luo waved his hand, and beside where they were sitting, a person-high light curtain rose from the ground, transforming gradually into a scene that was almost 4K in resolution.

“This is… Zhao Le?” Chen Mingming frowned. Through this magical light curtain, he was able to observe Zhao Le’s every move… “The gamble?”

Boss Luo said softly, “Next, it should be the most likely chance for Mr. Chen’s friend to fire… It’s a rare opportunity, is Mr. Chen really not planning on betting with me?”

Chen Mingming remained silent for a long while, then slowly said, “I’ve said it, I don’t bet.”

“If Mr. Chen wins, how about I grant you fifty years of life span?” Luo Qiu looked over Chen Mingming, smiled, and said, “I think Mr. Chen might need it more.”

Chen Mingming sighed, speaking earnestly, “The distance between you and me is too great, I can’t even imagine what I have that you would covet. The gamble is initiated by you, you also said you’ll only choose the opposite of what I choose… which means no matter which side I choose, you have a chance of winning. The conditions seem enticing but are just a trap. You can grant life span with just a snap of your fingers, while if I lose, it ends the contract.”

Boss Luo didn’t speak, but the maid said indifferently, “Mr. Chen, given my master’s status, he certainly wouldn’t interfere in such a small gamble to disrupt its uncertainty.”

Chen Mingming lowered his head and said nothing.

Luo Qiu then said, “Well, let’s quietly await the result then… What do you think, Mr. Chen?”

Chen Mingming nodded, then looked at the light curtain.

This guy was called Xiang Qiang, generally known as A Qiang, was always the guy who hung around Dong Shaofeng… Zhao Le quietly observed this guy.

During the class, he received a message from Xiang Qiang, forcing him to hurriedly rush out.

Finally meeting Xiang Qiang at the designated location, but this guy remained silent, taking Zhao Le all the way into the newly constructed teaching building.

At this time, Zhao Le received another message from Dong Shaofeng, telling him to wait at the school gate for him – this nearly made Zhao Le collapse, knowing these guys were using dirty tricks to intimidate him, never intending to let him go.

“Where on earth are you taking me!!” Zhao Le stopped, angrily shouting towards Xiang Qiang who was walking ahead.

Xiang Qiang slowly turned around, his expression seemingly a bit off. Instead of looking at Zhao Le, he gazed around the construction site and suddenly said, “Do you know why no one’s working here today?”

Zhao Le was agitated, angrily retorting, “How should I know!”

“The boss in charge of this project died,” Xiang Qiang said indifferently, “Committed suicide, the contractor is dead, so naturally the workers under him aren’t doing the work, hence no one is here.”

Zhao Le frowned, “What does this have to do with me?”

“It doesn’t,” Xiang Qiang shook his head, “But it has to do with me. Did you know? This project was originally ours, yet that damned guy took it over using despicable means… Our family was counting on this project to survive, but now…”

Zhao Le was taken aback. Unexpectedly, Xiang Qiang’s expression changed several times, and finally, he seemingly made up some kind of determination, suddenly rushing forward, kicking Zhao Le hard in the stomach.

Zhao Le wasn’t someone skilled at sports, his physique was far inferior to Xiang Qiang, with one kick he was painfully knocked to the ground – he didn’t have time to react, his body on the ground was pressed down by Xiang Qiang, who then began punching his face.

Dong Shaofeng attacked him once as well, but those punches and kicks were at least aimed at his shoulders and back, never hitting places that truly hurt or were visibly painful.

Zhao Le couldn’t understand why Xiang Qiang was suddenly going berserk, he could only instinctively protect his face.

“You’re insane…” Zhao Le said painfully.

But Xiang Qiang suddenly stopped swinging his fists, Zhao Le finally saw Xiang Qiang’s face through his legs, and felt a chill in his heart.

Xiang Qiang’s face was grim, like that of a devil, not only that, his hand was grasping a peculiar dagger, bearing some strange patterns on it, Zhao Le didn’t have time to take a closer look, only knowing Xiang Qiang seemed intent on stabbing him with it!

Zhao Le’s face turned pale with horror, and in seeking survival, he exploded with strength far beyond his usual, turning his body fiercely.

The dagger was skewed, but it directly stabbed into Zhao Le’s shoulder.

Zhao Le groaned in pain, struggling to resist, finally kicking Xiang Qiang away.

After breaking free, Zhao Le scrambled to his feet, clutching his blood-soaked shoulder, “You’re really insane!!”

A Qiang, after being pushed away, not only failed to come back to his senses but grew even more frenzied, his whole person like a madman, “A life for a life… I was just trying it out, didn’t expect it to really work!! Zhao Le, you coward, just go die for me!!”

At this moment, A Qiang grabbed a knife and charged frantically.

But just then, a figure suddenly dashed out from behind Zhao Le, reaching out cruelly across A Qiang’s chest—like a barrier, causing A Qiang to crash into the arm and tumble directly to the ground!

Zhao Le, eyes wide in disbelief… Dong… Dong Shaofeng?

Dong Shaofeng was slightly panting, his forehead covered in fine beads of sweat, looking as if he had been sprinting all the way… Dong Shaofeng turned his head, casting a ferocious glance at Zhao Le.

That beast-like glare instinctively sent a chill down Zhao Le’s spine.

Dong Shaofeng stomped on A Qiang’s knife-hand wrist, shouting, “What the hell has gotten into you?!”

“Young Master Feng…” A Qiang was glanced at by Dong Shaofeng’s fierce gaze and momentarily seemed to regain clarity, suddenly panicking in fear, “Young Master Feng, don’t stop me… I… I don’t want to die, if I don’t kill him, I will die!”

“What nonsense are you spouting!” Dong Shaofeng snorted coldly, “You idiot, have you gotten high again! I told you to stop, but you just don’t listen!”

“You don’t understand, you don’t understand!!” A Qiang cried hysterically, “You don’t understand… If you don’t let me kill him, I’ll kill you, the same outcome!”

“You!”

In haste, A Qiang suddenly switched the knife to his left hand from the right and slashed fiercely at Dong Shaofeng… Dong Shaofeng, with excellent athletic reflexes, quickly pulled back the foot that was pinning A Qiang’s right hand.

A flash of cold light passed, leaving a ten-centimeter long wound on Dong Shaofeng’s calf.

The pain instantly brought out a cold sweat, causing Dong Shaofeng to kneel on the ground… this time, the cut reached his heel!

A Qiang disregarded everything and charged again, while Dong Shaofeng, quick-witted in desperation, grabbed a handful of cement dust from the ground and scattered it.

A Qiang’s eyes instantly got hit by the cement dust, causing him to scream in pain and swing the dagger wildly, terrifyingly.

Dong Shaofeng endured the pain, barely getting to his feet, feeling an intense drilling pain whenever he moved his sliced heel.

Being someone who rarely admits defeat, Dong Shaofeng gritted his teeth and immediately jumped on A Qiang, pinning him to the ground with force.

However, A Qiang was completely insane, and despite Dong Shaofeng’s usual strength from regular exercise, he was struggling to hold him down.

He looked up at Zhao Le, who was pale and clutching his shoulder wound, growling under his breath, “What are you waiting for! Come help!!”

Though unsure of what happened to A Qiang, Zhao Le hesitated—watching Dong Shaofeng, who was nearly out of strength but held A Qiang down, and seeing A Qiang’s frantic struggle, his gaze slightly contracted.

A Qiang suddenly went crazy, though reasons were unknown, but… but he did go crazy!

He had a knife… and already slashed Dong Shaofeng once!

If…

Thinking of what he held against Dong Shaofeng, Zhao Le’s breathing suddenly quickened… maybe, he didn’t need to use the silver handgun at all.

“Come on! Bastard!!”

Zhao Le took a deep breath, shook his head, stepped back two steps, and coldly said, “You dogs eat dogs, what does it have to do with me…”

Dong Shaofeng’s pupils suddenly contracted.

Zhao Le turned, stumbling away, disappearing in the blink of an eye.

Dong Shaofeng gasped sharply as A Qiang suddenly bit into his arm… directly tearing off a chunk of flesh.

The pain surpassing the leg wound almost made Dong Shaofeng pass out, his hands instinctively loosening, allowing A Qiang to stab him in the abdomen.

Dong Shaofeng’s vision blurred with shooting stars, cold sweat pouring, at this moment A Qiang gained the upper hand, sitting on top of him… Dong Shaofeng saw the madness and bloodthirstiness in A Qiang’s eyes, watching the knife aimed fiercely at his heart, a streak of despair showing.

Just then—!

Bang—!!

A brick was fiercely smashed onto A Qiang’s face… seemingly knocking him unconscious.

A Qiang fell directly onto Dong Shaofeng… seeing the knife suddenly lodged beside his cheek, Dong Shaofeng’s heart raced, finally noticing Zhao Le standing with a brick, a grim look on his face.

Dong Shaofeng forcefully pushed A Qiang off, seeing him barely moving but his chest still heaving, and having the thought of getting up… although the heel wound hurt and bled, the stomach stab was more severe.

He naturally wanted to save himself.

Unexpectedly, Zhao Le suddenly rushed at him again, pressing Dong Shaofeng back to the ground… Zhao Le grasped Dong Shaofeng’s neck, maintaining a grim gaze.

Dong Shaofeng, on the contrary, calmed down, the pain causing some twitching, speaking calmly now, “Didn’t you leave me to die, why are you back… want to kill me personally.”

“Dong Shaofeng!! You bastard!!!”

“You want revenge… that’s fine.” Dong Shaofeng, pale yet sneering, “With my bleeding rate, you don’t need to worry I’ll last much longer… I’d suggest leaving here for good, disconnect any ties… If you want revenge, don’t ruin yourself in the process…”

“You think I dare not!!!”

Dong Shaofeng stayed silent, instead closed his eyes… dizziness was setting in from blood loss.

But the hands on his neck slowly loosened, Dong Shaofeng instinctively opened his eyes, seeing Zhao Le pressing down on his abdominal wound.

“Aren’t you going to kill me?”

Zhao Le coldly said, “You think I would really ruin my own future doing such a thing? Even if I have a million reasons to kill you, even if I truly intend to kill you all, even if I have everything prepared! I still won’t do it in the end! I have a family to take care of! I can’t just for revenge cause my sister, who’s finally recovered, to fall into a miserable life again!”

“Family huh…” Dong Shaofeng’s heart trembled.

“Listen!!” Zhao Le glared fiercely at Dong Shaofeng, simultaneously picking up the phone to call for help, coldly stating, “If you have any conscience left, if you know how to be grateful, don’t hassle me anymore!! I’m not saving you, I’m saving myself!”

“I promise you…” Dong Shaofeng murmured, then his pupils suddenly contracted, his face changed dramatically, as he suddenly pushed Zhao Le away.

At the same time, a dagger veered away from Zhao Le’s body, stabbing into Dong Shaofeng’s chest.

The supposedly unconscious A Qiang emanated black aura.

His eyes were bloodshot, his facial muscles seemed to melt, slipping down chunk by chunk, making him look eerie and terrifying…
