Chapter 1406: Chapter 133: The Truth in the Mirror

In the room, Bazby, as always, drew the girl into his embrace, completely enclosing her within his arms.

He spoke to her.

What Meila had said about his identity was something he no longer wished to remember—what he wanted to hold on to was that he was Bazby, the child who had walked out from The Lost Fissure.

He had been to The Lost Fissure, but it was not as he had once claimed—that he went there to crusade against the descendants of the Ancients who had escaped and hidden within the Fissure—but because he had originally lived inside the Fissure.

He was one of those children born already mutated by nature… He remembered that his father’s name was Norman, and his mother’s name was Bixisi.

The Ancients within the Fissure, after discovering the reason why every newborn would mutate, slaughtered all the children in a pit… but he did not die. He hid.

He hid in a place where no one could find him… he silently observed every single person, observed the father and mother who had given birth to him.

He saw with his own eyes how his father and mother, for violating the rules of the others, were driven out from the place where they had dwelled together… He would secretly procure some food that was easy for his parents to find and leave it not far from them.

Later, his parents once again gave birth to a new child.

He felt deliriously happy—he had thought he would never again have his own kind… he now had a kin of his own.

A younger sister… he had this younger sister!

But his parents seemed to want to kill this sister as well… just as they had once killed him, killed those children who were the same as him.

In his fury, he took his sister away… leaving his parents in absolute terror—he fled the Fissure with his sister, and began hiding near the Farm.

He gave his sister a name… Mina.

Mina did not undergo any mutation… she was just an ordinary human, so he temporarily placed Mina at the Farm… and there, he encountered the man who granted him an identity and this authority.

Bylegang Swift T. Toredo—he became Bylegang Swift T. Toredo’s confidant.

—How could it be that Mina had already died ten years ago from being over-drained by a designated bloodsucker?

…Those were nothing but absurd nonsense.

Mina… wasn’t Mina right here, right now in his arms? That supremely tempting taste of a closest kin’s fresh blood was at this very moment surging and churning, stirring his bloodsucking instincts, wasn’t it?

“Brother… are you hungry? Mina is ready!”

She always understood him like this… Bazby greedily took in the girl’s body fragrance and the sweet aroma of her fresh blood, slowly lowered his head, and opened his mouth, lined with bloodsucking fangs.

He bit… a light kiss upon the girl’s snow-white shoulder—blood began to slowly flow into his mouth, then down his throat, little by little being swallowed into his body.

Bloodsuckers had no body temperature; they were a cold species… yet the warmth of this blood intoxicated him so much that he even heard Mina’s low moans.

They seemed to be of pain, yet also carried a kind of pleasure… the room felt so utterly quiet.

In their embrace, they seemed to be indistinguishable from each other… and yet, in the mirror of the room, the reflection was not so truthful—the image in the mirror was another kind of scene.

In the mirror, Bazby’s eyes appeared vacant as he knelt on the floor, while the girl… the girl before him had her arms around his neck… her small mouth was gently sucking at his neck.

At the girl’s fair neck, her throat even bobbed rhythmically… On Bazby’s dazed face, a subtle, almost beatific expression gradually emerged.

The low moans were in fact his.

The bite marks had always been on his body, and there were many.

All along, it had been him who was offering her fresh blood… he was the designated one.

All this time…

But the girl sensed something different today. She quickly opened her eyes, her lips leaving Bazby’s neck. She reached out to wipe away the blood on her lips, yet now she felt an odd difficulty swallowing.

The girl’s slender, jade-like fingers began to trace along the bite marks on Bazby’s body… these marks were her handiwork, and could never be erased.

In truth, the taste of a bloodsucker’s blood was even more delicious than that of a human’s… the girl had never found it strange that she could feed on a bloodsucker’s blood. Just as bloodsuckers, by feeding on human blood, gained long life and Power, so too must there exist… beings who treated bloodsuckers themselves as their food.

“So you’ve already come back to your senses…” the girl said softly. “I can no longer feel Brother’s happiness from you anymore.”

“Mina…” Bazby slowly raised his head.

Kneeling on the floor, he stared foolishly at the girl’s face. All he could see was a blur. In truth, he could not see clearly… could not see what this face truly looked like.

“Mina is here.” The girl once more gently cradled Bazby’s head. “Always here… Brother.”

“Always…”

Bazby slowly closed his eyes, his head drooping, pressing completely into the girl’s embrace.

“You’ll have a good dream… a good dream you’ll never wake up from.” The girl whispered the final words softly at his ear.

The moment she released her hands from Bazby, he collapsed onto the floor—actually, there was still a very large wound on Bazby’s chest.

The Tang Sword that had originally stabbed him from behind had been forced out by him through his chest from the front… that sword now lay discarded by the entrance, its blade still drenched in blood.

The girl picked up the Tang Sword and returned to Bazby’s side… she measured it against Bazby’s body with the flat of the blade, then suddenly plunged the edge into Bazby’s body.

She cut his heart directly out from his body, and finally held it in both hands… the heart’s blood completely soaked the girl’s hands.

His heart was still scorching hot, and it took a very, very long time between beats.

The girl suddenly lifted the heart to her lips… she opened her mouth, seemingly intending to simply eat the heart whole like this… her face was full of anticipation.

“To eat it just like that—wouldn’t that be a pity?”

Then, from somewhere in the room, such a voice suddenly echoed… The girl slowly raised her head and saw that ‘Noble Master’ who had been playing the King’s Game with them in the villa.

“You’re here!” The girl showed neither fear nor dread… even with both hands cradling a scorching, beating heart, she still revealed an innocent yet enchanting smile. “The villa’s Noble Master!”

“Almost! We’re about to reach the high wall!” Reynas’s slightly hurried voice sounded at David’s ear.

David only tightened his expression, not knowing what he was thinking, and didn’t really pay much attention to Reynas’s excitement at this moment… His body had already recovered without him even noticing.

The extent of his recovery was even far better than the effect of those secret medicines he had struggled so hard to obtain from the Revolutionary Army.

He was somewhat terrified by the changes in his body… Having been engaged in underground resistance activities for many years, David was all too clear that the bloodsuckers had many methods to control humans.

That guy called Bazby hadn’t chosen to kill him, but instead used such a method, which made David all the more worried—if he really had been transformed by Bazby, then Bazby would be his elder, able to completely control his life and death!

Compared to simply killing David, this would obviously yield a far greater effect… Putting himself in the other’s place, David asked himself: if it were him, he probably wouldn’t choose to kill directly either, but would transform the other side instead; that way, it would be equivalent to having gained a servant girl who could never betray him.

Unable to find the origin of his hatred toward the bloodsuckers, David did not resist the idea of becoming a bloodsucker-like creature himself… What he resisted was that even after gaining Power, he would still be under someone else’s thumb, reduced to a slave of the bloodsuckers.

He longed far more for the Power of freedom.

While he was lost in his own dark thoughts, David suddenly felt a faint movement from Meila, who was on his back… Meila seemed to have come back to her senses.

“David…”

“You’re finally awake, that’s great!” He immediately put on an excited look.

“I… what exactly…” Meila only felt a splitting headache.

“You fought a big battle with a bloodsucker, and in the end…” David briefly went over what had happened… basically only leaving out the part where he had swallowed a drop of Bazby’s blood.

“Is that so… In the end I still didn’t manage to kill that traitor…” Meila couldn’t help letting out a bitter laugh.

In order to accumulate Power, she had taken the risk of killing quite a few Advanced Aristocrats, but the overly powerful black flames had left her completely unable to Control them, and in the end she could only lose control… Looking at the Farm where she had once lived, now lying in ruins, a complicated look flashed in Meila’s eyes.

“Traitor?”

Reynas, who had been quietly listening at the side, couldn’t help asking curiously, “You know Lord Bazby?”

Meila only furrowed her brows slightly. David, sensing what Meila was thinking, directly said, “Her name is Reynas; for now, she counts as our companion… Don’t worry.”

Meila only pondered for a moment and said nothing… Right now her stamina was severely depleted; she was so weak she could only let David carry her along.

But she still answered Reynas’s question. “That guy grew up in the same batch as me in the Farm… We became adults ten years ago.”

“What?” Reynas couldn’t help being greatly shocked. “This Lord Bazby, I heard he holds very Advanced power within the Clan… He—he really comes from a Farm, just like us, also… also a descendant of the Ancients?”

“Because his elder is the Clan’s Acting Archduke.” Meila said calmly, “That guy Bazby, in the end, for some unknown reason, was favored by the Clan’s Acting Archduke Bylegang Swift T. Toredo, who personally transformed him into a bloodsucker… So although it’s been less than ten years, I think with the Acting Archduke’s backing, it’s nothing strange that he could quickly seize power.”

David listened in silence, memorizing every word of this information.

“Then about what you said, him being a traitor…” Reynas at this moment hesitated, wanting to speak but stopping.

Meila said coldly, “A guy who kept shouting about wiping out all bloodsuckers, yet in the end willingly let himself become a bloodsucker, and turned around to slaughter us… If he’s not a traitor, then what is he?”

Reynas could feel the hatred in Meila’s tone, and immediately stopped her questions, lowering her head in silence… David also didn’t speak; he could clearly feel that surge of resentment in Meila.

But now he himself…

If his own situation were exposed, then…

Should he, right here, just…

David’s gaze instantly turned cold and gloomy… But the night excellently concealed his eyes at this moment—under that increasingly sharp gaze, David’s eyes even became faintly crimson.

Boom—!!!

A thunderous crash suddenly erupted… from the high wall not far ahead— the three of them instinctively raised their heads to look, only to see that a section of the towering stone wall had suddenly collapsed, and at the same time, a group of bloodsuckers wearing the uniforms of the Inspection Group were fleeing in panic from the breach in the high wall!

David was startled and instinctively focused his gaze—the recovery of his body hadn’t just strengthened his regenerative ability; even his night vision had improved significantly.

When David caught a glimpse of something inside that high wall, he froze completely… What had he just seen?

He saw Ann!

That sly, insidious woman who had ambushed him from behind! And she was actually standing inside the high wall at this moment, surrounded by a crowd!

Like a goddess…

Just what had happened to this shameless woman?

There was no time to think it through. Those Lower-level Vampires from the Inspection Group who were flying about in panic were actually being shot down one by one by humans inside the high wall, using some kind of unknown objects.

Seeing this, Meila first frowned slightly, then her eyes flashed… She drew out the black flames within her body and sent them burning toward one of the bloodsuckers who had fallen nearby!

The black flames, nourished by the Life of a bloodsucker, immediately swelled a bit stronger.

“David, put me down; I feel a bit better now.” She suddenly said softly to David.

Yet David couldn’t hear any hint of gentleness in her words; all he felt was cold sweat pouring down his back… Had she noticed?

David did his best to keep from showing the slightest oddity as he slowly set Meila down… Once on her feet, Meila immediately began driving the black flames to reap those Lower-level Vampires of the Inspection Group who had been shot down.

Only then did he secretly let out a breath of relief… It was just that, for the moment, he had to suppress that thought in his heart—because he didn’t know if, should he make a move now, someone would see.

Right at this moment, across the small-town area of the Farm, a woman’s voice suddenly rang out… It seemed to be transmitted by some kind of special means.

“All humans and bloodsuckers in this Farm, listen up! I, Amanda, a warrior favored by Goddess Ann, now formally announce this! This place has already been taken by us!!”

Ann… Goddess Ann?

Not only David, but Meila and even Reynas were all dumbfounded at this moment… watching that female figure on the high wall, radiating dazzling light as she gave her speech.

“We will liberate this place! Listen well: anyone who devoutly follows Great Goddess Ann will receive salvation!!”

“So embarrassing…”

Ann, surrounded by the crowd, only wanted to find a hole in the ground and bury herself in it at this moment…
