Chapter 1430: Chapter 57: The Bringer of Death
Chapter 1430: Chapter 57: The Bringer of Death
On the ground, the body of the giant eagle continued to twitch. Its blood flowed out, and in just a moment, it had soaked its entire form.
Transformed into a silver-gray leopard, Nero started walking around the fallen giant eagle, “Mr. Death, you don’t seem as powerful as imagined. If you were fiercer, I would be even more pleased.”
At this moment, the giant eagle’s eyes slowly closed, clearly unable to sustain its life due to the considerable blood loss.
A faint, grayish shadow simultaneously emerged from the eagle’s body.
Leopard Nero narrowed her eyes instantly, “Mr. Death, are you planning to transform again? Good, battles that aren’t one-sided are more interesting. Excite me~”
The grayish shadow gradually condensed into a two-meter-tall figure, but its appearance was not visible, only the two faint glimmers on its head resembling eyes… It was more akin to a flame flickering in the breeze.
“I see.” Its voice remained low, unaffected by the eagle’s death. Staring at leopard Nero, it said slowly, “Born for slaughter, revel in slaughter, what a pathetic creature… You must have a painful past, enduring unimaginable things alone.”
Its voice unknowingly softened, akin to whispering.
Yet the leopard Nero yawned without any reaction.
The voice became more delicate, tinged with pity and sorrow, “I don’t know what happened in your past…”
“Stop—!”
Nero suddenly raised her paw.
Its speech was abruptly disrupted, seemingly surprised, and it could only watch her quietly.
Leopard Nero squatted on the ground, cleaning her ear with a paw, nonchalantly, “I say, Mr. Death, gaining favor isn’t going to work here~ There’s only one in this world who can win my favor, and there’s no argument.”
It grew silent for a moment, then slowly said, “Well, for you, I shall feel…”
The voice stopped abruptly.
Instantly, its grayish, shadow-like body was split into two—up and down halves!
Nearby, the silver-gray leopard was gone, replaced by a short-haired white girl, holding a blade named Yama Sword, although the blade remained sheathed.
Restored to her original form, Nero showed no expression, “Chattering, chattering, I’ve said only one can gain my favor… Now I’ll kill you.”
The shadow, its body torn by the blade’s sheath, had cut sections spewing out mist profusely… In an instant, the grayish mist filled the entirety of the warehouse.
The mist seemed to bring about some illusion. Nero found herself as if on a desolate land. The mist moved, and tendrils brushed past, slicing her skin instantly.
Blood was supposed to flow from the cuts… But surprisingly, there was none! Moreover, the wounds on Nero’s body healed instantly.
She glanced at a few spots inadvertently cut open, her eyes curving into crescent moons, voice joyous like a child with a novel toy, “Wow! How is this done? If it was before, I’d really have suffered losses! Mr. Death, I’m falling for you… kidding.”
Just when she finished, Nero’s body also transformed into a mist… swelling, swelling, continuously expanding!
The expanded body of the Black Soul Envoy reversed the current situation in an instant, enveloping and devouring the mist!
It resisted fiercely, transforming into a whirlwind. Nero simultaneously emitted a joyful laugh, also transforming into a tornado!
The whirlwind and tornado clashed wildly in the warehouse… The high-pressure airflow lifted the warehouse’s deck, toppled its invincible iron walls, scattered dust, and destructively rampaged!
Finally, the whirlwind weakened. In a moment, it dispersed, and its shadowy body fell heavily to the ground, finding it difficult to rise.
The tornado gradually stopped, the white-haired girl in the wind, carrying her blade, twisted her neck, making a crunching sound, “Mr. Death, I’m done warming up. Let’s officially compete!”
“…”
It eventually rose again, its voice faint, not intentionally lowered but seemingly weak, “You… are not a Druid.”
“If you say I’m not, then I’m not.” Nero responded with a smiling face, “I’m very empathetic to others.”
It grew silent for a moment, suppressing the urge to lash out from the stirred emotions in its presumably calm heart, and slowly said, “I perceive the scent close to death from you… Curiously, you don’t seem like a creature of this world.”
Nero blinked, “Hearing you say that, I suddenly feel super handsome! Mr. Death, oh my, I suddenly feel reluctant to kill you!”
“Judging by the situation, indeed, I’ve inadvertently become your toy… How ironic.” It shook its head, “But in any case, I hope you stay away from the Smith Family, that’s all.”
“You speak as if you can turn the tables.” Nero sneered coldly.
Instantly, its figure gradually faded, as if it was about to disappear.
Nero remained silent, flicked her finger, causing the Yama Sword’s sheath to eject on its own. In the next moment, she stuck the Yama Sword into the ground.
In that instant, hundreds of sword lights appeared, all aiming to annihilate it as it was about to vanish!
Woosh—woosh—woosh—!
All the sword lights converged on a single point, and the entire warehouse was obliterated by their power.
Dust filled the sky.
Amid the dust, Nero waved her hand in distaste, brushing away the dust in front of her as she walked out, gazing at her blade, “Useless thing! I don’t blame you for losing to Brother Da Zhe, but not even keeping Mr. Death alive, I’ll melt you down for iron treatment//maiden tonight!”
Blade sounds rang, seemingly protesting constantly, as if saying: Isn’t it because you’ve been messing around without taking things seriously?
But the blade emitted a clump of gray mist at this moment, surprisingly half of its body.
“Trash!” Nero didn’t commend, instead throwing Yama Sword on the ground, stepping on it, stomping a few times.
Afterward, she stretched lazily and muttered to herself, “Getting more interesting, Mr. Death’s taste and that hard-to-swallow spider aren’t the same.”
Speaking, Nero suddenly patted her forehead, “Oh no! My chocolate beans!”
…
…
In a distant small mill, a gray shadow slowly appeared, finally lying on the straw, unable to move.
“It seems, I almost couldn’t escape…”
Its body now completely still. Upon closer inspection, its body was barely half… mist pouring out from the upper body rupture, dissipating into the air.
This seemed to imply its condition had reached an indescribably dire state.
A mouse appeared unknowingly… sniffing around with its nose, slowly nearing its side.
The little mouse suddenly stood up, examining the strange entity on the straw—apparently never encountering such existence before.
“Go away, don’t come near me.”
Looking at the little creature, it spoke slowly, “Even if your life is short, approaching me will only bring early death.”
Squeak—squeak—squeak—
Perhaps the little creature didn’t understand. It still climbed up the straw out of curiosity… Finally, when it climbed onto It, the little mouse’s movements became increasingly slow, and its agility, typical of a mouse, was nowhere to be seen.
As it walked, the little creature suddenly fell down…right onto It’s chest.
A faint sigh seemed to echo in the mill, only then did It gently raise Its hand and softly caress the little mouse’s body.
It seemed to be chanting.
——Are you, are you,
——Going to come to this tree.
——A person who took three lives was hanged from this tree.
——Strange things happened here,
——But strangest of all,
——We met under this gallows tree at midnight.

When Nero returned to Joe’s room, she found the child lying on the desk, seemingly asleep.
Nero glanced casually around, noticing that Joe had written many notes at the moment.
However, the jar of chocolate beans was untouched, just sitting on the desk without having been moved back to its original place.
Nero casually twisted open the jar, picked a few flavors she liked, tossed them into her mouth, and chewed lightly.
Then her eyes darted as if she had thought of some mischievous idea, and she chuckled deceitfully, then blew a puff of air, sending Joe directly onto the bed. She sat onto the chair herself, picked up Joe’s pencil, and began scribbling on his completed notes.
Soon after, Nero stretched lazily with satisfaction… She stood up then called forth the Yama Sword, thrusting it directly into the floor of the room.
The Yama Sword sunk into the floor, then continued further into Mr. Smith’s underground… Nero clapped her hands, then transformed into a cloud of black mist, leaving via the window.
After a while, Joe rubbed his eyes and drowsily got up… He looked a bit confused, unsure why he was lying on the bed.
Joe climbed out of bed, walked to his small desk, picked up his chocolate bean jar, shook it a few times, and found that nearly all the beans were eaten… Suddenly Joe felt unwell.
Then, when he saw his painstakingly written notes, all now covered with drawings of turtles, his mouth was left agape for a long time.
Frustrated, he puffed up his cheeks and angrily threw the jar of chocolate beans into the trash can — without opening it… Since he didn’t open it, he didn’t discover that all the beans were actually eaten but replaced with a strawberry-flavored bubblegum.
“Liar!”
Joe muttered to himself and stepped out of the room — because Lady Elura was calling him downstairs to have afternoon tea.

…
After aimlessly wandering outside for a while, Nero strolled leisurely into the manor, resting her hands on her head, while Da Zhe was mowing the lawn in the courtyard.
Finding it amusing, she floated in front of Da Zhe, then sat on the lawnmower, facing him, “Brother Da Zhe, you look so handsome while working!”
Da Zhe had no choice but to stop the lawnmower and grumpily said, “Didn’t you say you were going out to buy things, where are they?”
Nero subconsciously blinked her eyes, she even spread her hands, looking at her own hands — then Nero’s jaw suddenly dropped.
Because of the special structure of the Black soul envoy’s body, the jaw can really drop off on its own!
“Brother Da Zhe~”
She even shed two tears, looking pitiful, like a stray cat abandoned on the street, suddenly lunging forward, clutching Da Zhe’s thigh tightly, “I really bought things, but somehow the bag flew away!”
She then remembered that she accidentally forgot it in Mr. Smith’s restaurant!
“Ms. You Ye is in the kitchen right now.” Da Zhe said expressionlessly.
Nero visibly trembled, her body shaking like a wave, then stood up solemnly, “I remembered that there’s something important I forgot to do… Don’t make dinner for me… No wait, just leave the dinner for me in the fridge, I’ll eat it when I return!”
She hurried towards the manor’s exit — even flew.
But the usually reliable flying ability of the Black soul envoy suddenly seemed to fail — she was directly pulled to the ground by gravity — falling heavily.
And it really hurt — if it can cause pain to a Black soul envoy, it’s naturally due to something else.
Nero subconsciously raised her head, and there she saw a skirt of maid uniform, moving her eyes upward, it was covered by a kitchen apron, and looking further up, naturally she saw that stunningly beautiful face.
“Good day, Ms. You Ye.” Nero smiled awkwardly.
The maid at this moment gently smiled and said, “Good day, Ms. Nero, I heard you diligently went out to buy the ingredients for me today… Did you?”
“Yes!” Nero blinked and stood up.
The maid spoke softly, “I appreciate your effort, I was just thinking of making something, let me see what useful stuff you bought.”
“…Okay.” Nero swallowed, then slowly turned to look at the back where Da Zhe stood, large round tears started to fall, rolling down from her face.
Da Zhe was helplessly shrugged his shoulders.
Nero had no choice but to turn back, her forehead drenched in sweat, as she was planning to give up, a figure walked leisurely from the manor’s entrance.
It was Boss Luo.
Boss Luo was holding two shopping bags in his hands… Luo Qiu casually said, “I met Nero in town, bought some things together, see if there’s anything you need.”
“So timely.” The maid gently received, “Master, afternoon tea is about to be ready, please wait for a moment.”
“Is Luo Ya asleep yet?” Luo Qiu asked casually.
“Probably not yet.” The maid said softly, “Miss Luo Ya seems quite spirited today.”
“Alright then…” Boss Luo nodded, “I’ll go check on her, and come down later.”
The maid nodded, never glancing at Nero again… This made Nero exhale in relief, knowing she narrowly avoided a disaster.
Taking advantage of the maid’s absence, Nero sneaked up to Boss Luo… but was quickly blocked by an invisible barrier emanating from him.
She puffed her cheeks in frustration and said, “You know! The original 200% favorability rating got deducted by 3%! Now it’s only 197%!”
“Don’t make trouble.” Boss Luo casually said, “See if there’s anything you can help Da Zhe with.”
“Alright!”
Nero stood up straight and saluted, then backed away, bumping Da Zhe, then started the lawnmower and began running crazily around the courtyard.
