Chapter 1556: Chapter 283: The Girl and the Boss
Chapter 1556: Chapter 283: The Girl and the Boss
“Quick… hurry up!” Iben said in fear as he walked, carrying someone on his back.
The Princess… or rather, the one shot by the Princess, Yamana.
“Why are you still carrying her?” Guardian Otto, who was clearing the path ahead, couldn’t help but turn back and ask with a frown.
“She’s not dead… she’s not dead yet…” Iben panted and said, “But she seems almost about to die; her eyes can’t open, only her hand holds onto me.”
Otto glanced at Yamana’s wound and shook his head, saying, “Even if she won’t die, she won’t live long. There are no medical conditions here to save her. Put her down, or she’ll slow us down.”
“I want to try.” Iben shook his head, “In the end, if she really dies, I’ll put her down.”
“Suit yourself.”
However, Otto still slowed his pace… but the interior of the Miniature Temple showed more signs of collapsing, and who knew if they could hold until the moment of escape.
Xie Jiatu… even when he finally reverted to his true nature, seemed to still be scheming something — using his own death to prompt putting the Balance into the groove.
What was his ultimate goal… Otto could not figure it out at this moment.
Just then, a large stone fell from above, about to hit him and Iben… Otto quickly raised the Black Blade, planning to use the scarce energy inside him to break the stone, but the stone suddenly shattered just before he made his move.
Caused by an external force.
Guardian Otto frowned, seeing a huge curtain slowly floating down from above… On this curtain sat a restless-looking girl in Golden Armor, along with a red figure: the Lamp God!
“Oh, long time no see, Otto,” said a certain Red Lamp Spirit.
“Seems like this is your summoner… you seem to be in good spirits,” Guardian Otto slightly tilted his head.
“What’s going on??” Iben habitually widened his eyes.
“Ah! Princess!” The Little Maid in Golden Armor jumped down from the flying curtain, “Your Highness! Your Highness, what’s wrong! I am Arian, Your Highness! Your Highness… Lord Lamp God!”
The chaotic situation led to everyone looking at each other… Facing the tearful gaze of the Little Maid Arian, the Red Lamp Spirit simply stared at Guardian Otto’s amused look, irritably saying, “Shut up! Woman!! I, the Lamp God, know what to do!”
Saying so, the flying curtain suddenly doubled in size, directly sweeping up Guardian Otto and Iben… as the walls and stones continued falling, the Red Lamp Spirit grabbed the two corners of the curtain, turned around and said, “Hold on tight! I’m accelerating… damn it! I, the Lamp God, don’t owe you guys anything!!”
The Little Maid didn’t care about all this, at this moment snatching Yamana from Iben’s hands, holding her tightly… with empty hands, Iben could only grasp the edge of the curtain, peeking down occasionally, swallowing nervously… frightened.
Otto sat quietly, the dangerous falling stones seemingly unable to gather around him, he just smiled slightly, murmuring, “It’s really nostalgic… a flying carpet.”
…
“So, you must know what exactly happened here, don’t you?”
There was naturally no red light indicating stop ahead… the grand Lamp God of course wouldn’t let the falling rocks hit midway, the flying curtain finally safely escaped the Miniature Temple, stopping on the ineffective strong electromagnetic field outside, slowly landing.
Just after landing, the Red Lamp Spirit fiercely glared at Guardian Otto.
Mr. Otto simply said calmly, “It’s been thousands of years… just met, and already using this tone with an old friend, it seems this millennium of slumber has made your brain not quite clear.”
“I’ll turn you into a sheep, Otto!”
“Without the summoner’s permission, the Lamp God attacks humans on his own… aren’t you afraid of being incinerated by the flames inside the Magic Lamp?”
“Oh… my God, why did I ever tell you so much – you bastard!!”
“Ah… Lord Lamp God, now is not the time to argue with this gentleman… Your Highness, Your Highness is almost dying! You must save her quickly!”
“I told you to shut up, woman… I know, be quiet! I know how to save people!!” the Red Lamp Spirit’s head suddenly swelled, mouth nearly large enough to swallow the Little Maid, “And I’m not arguing with this bastard, I’m cursing this bastard! I haven’t cursed this bastard for thousands of years, if I don’t curse him now, I’m not comfortable at all!”
“Enough!! Save her!! Immediately! Right away!!”
The Little Maid in Golden Armor suddenly stood up, her voice sharp… Tearful eyes now revealed an angry look.
“I… I know.”
Never knowing, never daring to ask Iben at this moment watched, thinking the Red Giant would suddenly act maliciously, but didn’t expect the Red Giant to actually cower… cowered…
The Red Lamp Spirit, shivering, came to the almost dying Yamana, gently lifting her head with both hands… his palms slightly glowing.
Mr. Otto shook his head and muttered under his breath, “Still the same, seeing a woman and being afraid… all these years, no progress.”
But he had no intention of disturbing the Red Lamp Spirit, at this moment he turned to look at the Miniature Temple’s outer wall slowly peeling off, frowning.
As the outer wall peeled off, another side of this Miniature Temple, which seemed to be hidden, was now formally revealed.
“What is this…”
…
…
The girl stood at the door, seemingly surprised by the person who suddenly arrived outside… the successful Princess came to this place.
The Princess stood frozen in place — this girl resembled her late mother… Although young at the time, the Princess had a good memory, so she would not forget her mother’s appearance.
But the problem is… too young.
Even younger than the mother the Princess remembered… perhaps just someone similar, or perhaps – the Princess thought of the Balance’s power to divide good and evil.
So, this girl in front of her, could she be…
“You’ve come.” The girl, after a moment of surprise, gave a slight smile. Casually placing the basket she held outside on the corridor, she approached the Princess with joyous laughter, reaching out to hold the Princess’s hands.
The Princess instinctively stepped back half a step, then frowned: “My mother died ten years ago… who exactly are you?”
The girl said softly, “Xie Jiatu must have sent you here.”
The Princess nodded.
“Don’t just stand there, come in.” The girl smiled slightly and then turned around to enter the room.
The Princess hesitated for a moment, finally gritted her teeth, and followed the girl into the room — this should probably be the most humble room the Princess had ever seen… at least for now, it indeed seemed so.
“Are you hungry?” The girl sat in front of the Princess, holding her cheeks in her hands, blinking her eyes, looking quite pretty.
“You haven’t answered my question yet.” The Princess asked with a blank expression.
The girl continued speaking as if to herself, “For all these years, I’ve been watching Yamana grow up. I always imagined what I would say if Yamana appeared before me… but now it seems, it doesn’t matter what I say — because I seem to have forgotten what I had planned to say before.”
“Answer my question!” The Princess said in a stern voice: “Who are you! Why are you here!”
“And why do I look exactly like your mother, right?” The girl suddenly looked at the Princess with a sly smile.
“The kind face, or the ugly face?” The Princess’s voice was even lower.
“You must be thinking, maybe I am the ugly side.” The girl seemed quite at ease, “After all, your mother turned into a monster and was killed by the Pharaoh… How could someone as gentle as your mother be the ugly side?”
“Isn’t it so?” The Princess sneered.
“Most of it is true,” the girl said, “but it seems there is still some misunderstanding… what if I told you that your mother was actually split by the Balance’s power and belonged to the ugly side? What would you do then?”
“You know everything?” The Princess couldn’t help but frown.
The girl then suddenly said, “Yamana, do you know, it rarely rains in the desert; each rain is a gift from the gods… especially when you can hold a rainbow in your hand.”
“Who exactly are you!” The Princess had clearly lost all her patience, slamming her hands on the wooden table and standing up in anger: “Why are you hiding in the Underground Dark River of the Royal Palace! What’s your relationship with the High Priest… with Xie Jiatu?”
“Follow me…” The girl sighed slowly, showing some reluctance as she looked at the Princess: “I actually wanted to talk to you more… but before that, this uninvited gentleman, don’t you think it would be more polite to knock before entering?”
At these words, the Princess instinctively looked back… Gentleman?
She didn’t recall arriving with anyone — could it be Otto? Did that guy secretly follow her down afterwards?
“Sorry, I should have noticed this place sooner… I was engrossed in watching the other side.”
With the apologetic voice, a figure gradually appeared out of nowhere in front of the Princess… A young man with black hair dressed in Royal Guard attire.
The Princess was startled, opening her mouth slightly in surprise — for some reason, she felt a peculiar familiarity with this black-haired young man, but she couldn’t recall where she might have seen him before.
Although a strange feeling stirred in her heart, she was, after all, a proud veteran of the battlefields of the City of the Sun — the Princess instinctively did everything to stay on guard, “Who are you?!”
“Yamana, don’t be rude.” The girl suddenly called out softly: “This gentleman doesn’t mean any harm; he’s just a visitor here… or perhaps he’d like to conduct some small business, am I right?”
“Yes, ma’am,” The young guard said politely: “Actually, I didn’t intend to interrupt here so soon… I hadn’t yet fully explored this place, it’s just…”
While speaking, the young man glanced at the Princess, smiling as he said, “Just earlier, the Princess told me she hoped I could use my own eyes to judge… judge the one from my memories that doesn’t include me.”
The girl smiled slightly, “Even if the gentleman wants to judge for himself, it seems a bit greedy… Hasn’t the battle between Seth and Horus satisfied you?”
The young guard apologized: “This little bit of greed is among the few remnants I have left… I hope to maintain it, at least for now. So I’m already trying to be as cautious as possible, to not involve myself too much… carefully, afraid to disturb the way things ought to be. Yet, due to certain rules, I inevitably come into contact with some matters.”
“This is far more modest than the previous one…” The girl shook her head: “It’s okay, since you’re here, you’re here anyway. There probably isn’t any place in this world that can really block your… invasion.”
“Invasion is truly…” the young guard gently shook his head: “An irrefutable description.”
The girl merely let out a faint hum, then didn’t continue the verbal pursuit — she seemed to feel some victorious delight in her gaze, but it also seemed as though that was all because if she were to delve deeper, it wasn’t her field to explore further.
Even the current verbal victory was probably owing to the other party’s good temper.
The conversation between the girl and the young guard mostly felt like riddles, filling the Princess listening beside them with confusion until the two stopped, and she let out a cold snort.
She felt like an outsider; this inability to grasp the situation was intolerable to someone like her, who was always strong and competitive. Thus, she took a deep breath, aimed her pistol towards the ceiling, and pulled the trigger directly.
Bang—!
The loud gunshot echoed within the small house, yet the two inside did not seem frightened whatsoever — as if two people engaged in a deep discussion suddenly heard a knocking.
Just abruptly halted.
Thus, the girl looked apologetically at the young guard… Boss Luo, smiling as she said, “I’m sorry, my daughter has always been quite lively.”
Facing these two who showed no fear, the Princess couldn’t help but feel… frustrated.
Quite frustrated indeed!
