Chapter 510: Chapter 503: Finally Made a Move
Wuyuan’s Huang Yuan is exceptionally dry, so Sisi has to drink a lot of water every day to keep her skin hydrated, and she also adds some wild chrysanthemums and goji berries to her water, a habit from her past life. Wild chrysanthemums clear heat and detoxify, goji berries brighten the eyes and nourish the blood; it’s beneficial for women’s health.
When the other female teachers in the office saw Sisi’s way of drinking tea, and then looked at Sisi’s glowing skin, they didn’t ask any questions and started to follow suit, each with a cup of wild chrysanthemum and goji berry tea.
Only Liu Tielan was not on board; she was not accustomed to this light, slightly sweet tea, having always drunk strong tea, particularly the very hard pressed brick tea. Every day, her first task upon arriving at school was to break off a piece, put it in the tea jar, fill it with water, and brew a jar of strong tea, refilling it throughout the day – a coaster-sized tea brick could last her a whole day.
Generally speaking, it’s very rare for young girls to drink such strong tea, but Liu Tielan said her parents both drank it this way, so she had grown accustomed to it from childhood. Light teas couldn’t satisfy her taste at all, and with her high daily physical activity, plus her fondness for meat, this strong tea was just the thing.
Out of curiosity, Sisi had once tried brewing this tea brick, but she threw up after the first sip—so bitter and astringent, the taste was truly unparalleled!
That afternoon, after finishing her classes for the day, Sisi fanned herself with her hand as she returned to the office, the weather slightly stuffy. She was sweating from wearing a thin wool sweater.
Setting down the teaching plans in her hand, Sisi habitually picked up the teacup from her desk, opened the lid, and drank the water she had specifically poured before class, waiting for it to cool down after class.
What Sisi didn’t know was that Shen Baozhu, sitting to her right and slightly behind her, was anxiously watching her. When Sisi lifted the teacup to her lips, Shen Baozhu lowered her head, unable to fully mask the corners of her lips.
As the tea touched her lips, Sisi slightly furrowed her brow and immediately moved the cup away, looking inside.
Something was off!
Her tea should not have any bitterness, although this bitterness was very, very faint. If it weren’t for her taste being several times more sensitive than normal, she surely wouldn’t have noticed.
Her teacup had been tampered with!
And something had been added!
Sisi was unsure what had been added, but surely it was nothing good, and it was pretty clear who had done this.
It seems they couldn’t resist making a move after all!
Nor was it a wasted wait.
Noticing Shen Baozhu’s urgency as she set down the cup, Sisi sneered internally, made up her mind decisively, and intended to make Shen Baozhu drink this tampered water.
Shen Baozhu was anxious about why Sisi wasn’t drinking; as long as she drank it, Shen could finish her task and return to the United States!
However, as anxious as she was, she dared not ask Sisi why her usual routine of drinking water right after class changed today.
If she asked, and something happened to Sisi after she drank the water, wouldn’t she be the prime suspect?
She wasn’t that foolish!
The bell for class rang, and Shen Baozhu hurriedly picked up her lecture notes and rushed off to teach, and the other teachers left for their classes as well, leaving only Sisi and two or three other teachers in the office. Sisi looked at Shen Baozhu’s teacup on her desk, a thought crossing her mind.
Sisi stood up and walked over to Shen Baozhu’s desk by the windowsill. As Shen Baozhu’s desk was near the door, two hot water kettles were placed on it, and her teacup was just next to the kettles, likely just used, with the lid still open and more than half a cup of water left.
It’s as if even heaven couldn’t stand it!
Sisi pretended to bend down to take a drink, but of course, she didn’t drink a sip. She discreetly glanced around at the other teachers, who were all busy grading homework or preparing lesson plans, not paying any attention to her.
This was the moment!
Sisi skillfully turned her body to block the view of the hot water kettle and Shen Baozhu’s teacup, and quickly swapped the water in their cups. Of course, she didn’t forget to put on thin gloves, which was basic common sense.
In just a few seconds, Sisi had completed all her actions. Her heart was racing, feeling both thrilling and tense, waiting to see how Shen Baozhu would react to the doctored water.
Sisi thought that Shen Baozhu could only have added something like laxatives or allergy medications to her own tea, considering Jin Wen was psychotic, but Shen Baozhu wasn’t. She wasn’t bold enough to use poison to harm someone; thus, Sisi was just trying to give Shen Baozhu a taste of her own medicine.
But Sisi underestimated Jin Wen’s psychosis and overestimated Shen Baozhu’s intelligence.
However, Sisi didn’t swap all the water with Shen Baozhu. She only swapped half of it, pouring the remaining half into the flower bed at the office door. Then she carefully rinsed the cup with water from the space, returned and brewed herself a new cup of chrysanthemum tea.
"Mr. He, why did you pour out the brewed tea?" a female teacher asked curiously, seeing Sisi’s actions.
Sisi deliberately frowned and replied, "I don’t know what’s wrong with that cup of tea; it tasted bitter, so I poured it out once I tasted something off. I’m not sure if it’s because of the chrysanthemum quality or today’s water."
"The water is fine; I’m on my second cup already, and it isn’t bitter at all," the female teacher quickly said.
"Then it must be the chrysanthemum from that place. I won’t buy there next time."
"That could be. There’s more and more counterfeit goods on the market now, and business ethics seem to have gone to the dogs," the female teacher said indignantly, probably having been duped before.
Sisi smiled and slowly sipped her tea, the sweet and refreshing taste of the tea made her feel much more relaxed.
She could have gone home, but then how would she have witnessed the drama unfold?
So instead, Sisi took out a stack of student’s drawings and slowly appreciated them. Considering that Du Du was mostly on supplementary food during the day, only needing milk in the evenings and mornings, it meant her milk was often surplus by night, benefiting someone.
Thinking back to last night’s passionate embrace, Sisi’s face flushed with shyness, feeling like her whole body was melting. She hurriedly drank more chrysanthemum water to steady her mind.
As another lesson ended, Shen Baozhu and Liu Tielan approached the classroom together. Liu Tielan was sweating profusely in just her autumn attire, complaining as she entered, "It’s killing me how hot it is. It’s only May; why is it this hot? Heaven must be sick."
She said this while grabbing a large tea container from the desk and gulped down its contents robustly, reminiscent of the heroic characters in TV dramas who drink from large bowls, always making Sisi want to laugh.
Meanwhile, having taught a class, Shen Baozhu also picked up her cup, unusually thirsty. Unlike her usual small sips, she gulped down more than half the cup at once.
And that’s when things went awry. Unexpectedly, the first person to react was Liu Tielan.
