Transmigrated as My Aunt in the 70s

Chapter 548 - 541: Enemies Meet on a Narrow Road

Chapter 548: Chapter 541: Enemies Meet on a Narrow Road

Sisi could hardly keep from bursting into laughter when she saw who was in the private room.

The saying "Enemies are bound to meet on a narrow path" couldn’t be more fitting!

To her surprise, the private room was occupied by none other than Tang Qiubai and Zhong Yuying, along with two other middle-aged men, one around fifty, the other in his early thirties, who from their attire seemed to be guests from Hong Kong or Taiwan.

Tang Qiubai didn’t expect to encounter Sisi here either. After a moment of surprise, he greeted her with a smile, "Sisi, what brings you here?"

"I’m working here as a waitress!" Sisi joked as she placed a bowl of Mrs. Song’s fish soup on the table and said, "Enjoy Mrs. Song’s fish soup."

She didn’t linger to chat with Tang Qiubai, nor did she pay any attention to Zhong Yuying, and just walked out with her tray.

"President Zhang, Secretary Li, try this fish soup. It’s exceptionally fresh and flavorful, and it’s the signature dish of this restaurant."

Putting his curiosity aside, Tang Qiubai signaled Zhong Yuying with his eyes to attend to the two guests and have them taste the soup.

Tang Qiubai planned to seek Sisi out after the meal to find out what was going on and why she was working as a waitress in the restaurant. If Sisi was in trouble, he wouldn’t mind lending a hand. He was now the General Manager of the Shanghai branch, after all, and he had the capacity to help others—didn’t Zhong Yuying get her sales position in the company because of him?

At the moment, Zhong Yuying was feeling quite smug. The once unattainable He Sisi was now serving her, Zhong Yuying, dishes. Ha, the He family must be losing money in their business!

She was determined to find He Sisi later and humiliate her thoroughly!

Zhong Yuying greeted the two Hong Kong guests with a beaming smile. They were her contacts, and if she could close the deal with them, she would be able to get a hefty kickback.

President Zhang was still captivated by Sisi’s beauty, unable to extricate himself. He had thought that a woman like Zhong Yuying, a young wife, was top-notch, but the waitress he just saw was even more beautiful—just one glance and he was almost swooning!

"President Zhang, try this soup. I guarantee you’ll want more after tasting it," Zhong Yuying said sweetly, ladling a small bowl of soup for him and bringing it close to his lips, just short of feeding him.

President Zhang drank the soup distractedly, not flirting with Zhong Yuying as usual, his mind fixated on Sisi. Secretary Li, sensing his boss’s thoughts and knowing his role as the close assistant is to share his boss’s worries and joys, casually mentioned Sisi.

"Why not invite that waitress to join us for some food and drinks?"

"No!" Tang Qiubai objected subconsciously. Seeing President Zhang’s face darken, he realized he had misspoken and quickly smiled, "President Zhang, as you know, I have no say over the waitstaff of this restaurant. If she doesn’t want to come, there’s nothing I can do."

"How could there be nothing you can do? Mr. Tang, you know her, don’t you? I think you’re just not eager enough!" Secretary Li said coldly.

He and President Zhang had done plenty of business on the Mainland in recent years and bedded their fair share of women: married women, young girls, ladies from good families, and prostitutes. In his view, as long as there was money, there was no difference between those women—they would all wash up and willingly climb into bed. Isn’t Manager Zhong just another case in point? Him and President Zhang had had their fill of her.

Zhong Yuying spoke before Tang Qiubai could, "It’s an honor for that waitress to catch the eyes of President Zhang and Secretary Li, but I know this woman, and she’s not easy to please, so it might not be easy to invite her!"

President Zhang seemed interested, "Even if a beauty has a bit of temper, that’s normal, right? Xiao Li, you go with Manager Zhong to invite that beauty for a meal—remember to be generous with the sincerity!"

Secretary Li smiled obligingly and took out a stack of hundred yuan paper notes from his bag before getting up and walking outside, with Zhong Yuying following behind him. Tang Qiubai wanted to stop them, but when he thought about the benefits President Zhang could bring, he immediately held his tongue. If he could secure this order, he was sure to get promoted several levels when he returned to the head office next year, and he would take a significant cut of the commission too.

It’s just a meal after all, Sisi probably wouldn’t mind, right?

Tang Qiubai subconsciously didn’t want to consider that President Zhang, a lustful glutton, wasn’t going to be satisfied with just a meal, was he?

It has to be said that Tang Qiubai is indeed a very selfish and cold-hearted person when it comes to outsiders. His kindness and passion must have been all given to Mr. and Mrs. Tang Tieshan, and even towards his own parents and siblings, he wasn’t exactly generous.

Even in his past life, Tang Qiubai’s relationship with Zhong Yuying was probably mostly utilitarian since she could work for him and bring benefits. And if one day Zhong Yuying could no longer work, Tang Qiubai would likely kick her to the curb without a second thought.

Little did Sisi know that in the short time it took her to deliver dishes, she had caught someone’s attention again. Right now, she was putting beers in the fridge. The weather was very hot, and the beer was selling fast. The beers that had been chilled in the morning were quickly depleted, and it was fortunate that Niu Guiyuan had the foresight to get two large refrigerators; otherwise, they wouldn’t have been able to keep up with demand.

"Miss He, hello," Secretary Li greeted Sisi from outside the counter.

Sisi turned around and saw a smug Zhong Yuying and that slightly younger man from the private room. Pretending to be enthusiastic, Zhong Yuying said, "Sisi, this is Secretary Li from Hong Kong East Asia Group Company, and the other gentleman from the private room is General Manager Zhang. President Zhang says he really admires your style, Sisi, and would like to invite you to join him for lunch."

Before Sisi could answer, Zhong Yuying added, "President Zhang said that as long as you make him happy, money is no object. Anyway, it will be much better than waitressing here, and of course much more relaxing!"

The last remark was said by Zhong Yuying with particular flippancy, accompanied by a scornful laugh, the implication of which was unclear.

Sisi suppressed her rising anger—damn it, she ran into this kind of scum wherever she went.

’Slap’

Without a second thought, Sisi grabbed the clipboard used for accounting on the counter and swiped it at the smiling Zhong Yuying. One hit wasn’t enough to vent her anger, so she hit Zhong Yuying five or six times more until she had swollen Zhong Yuying’s face like a pig’s head, finally quenching the fire in her heart.

Zhong Yuying only felt a burning pain on her face, and when she touched her cheek, she wiped up a hand full of blood—the bright red blood mingling with her brightly painted fingernails looked particularly eerie.

Zhong Yuying was instantly pale with fear at the sight of her own blood. She relied on her face to do business; now that it was ruined, how could she negotiate deals?

Furious, Zhong Yuying charged towards Sisi. That Tian Zhaodi, even with her family gone bankrupt, was still so arrogant!

But Zhong Yuying was wearing high-heeled sandals today and a short skirt that restricted her steps, only allowing her to take tiny steps. She couldn’t take large strides, and after only two steps she was beaten up by Sisi again, causing Secretary Li who was watching to have a racing heart and break out in a cold sweat.

Damn, are all women from Shanghai this hot-tempered?

Your servant can’t handle it!
