Transmigrated as the Ex-Wife of a Heroic Man

Chapter 1137: Very Unhappy

Chapter 1137: Chapter 1137: Very Unhappy

Ji Fang couldn’t stand the scrutiny any longer and hurried out of the rest room, just as the meeting ended. Zhou Hengguang came out from the midst surrounded by a group of people, and they ran into each other.

Immediately, Ji Fang thought of the matter that the big boss had phoned about earlier. Without daring to let his thoughts wander, he composed himself and followed behind. After the others dispersed, he found an opportunity to speak with Zhou Hengguang.

“Deputy Director, the big boss called just now, but you were in a meeting so I took the call,” Ji Fang said.

Zhou Hengguang, who was walking in front, slightly turned his head upon hearing Ji Fang’s words and looked at his secretary with a meaningful gaze, “Why the sudden change in address?”

“What?”

“You used to call me ‘you’, why have you suddenly switched to ‘you’ as in the formal ‘you’?”

Ji Fang hadn’t expected the Deputy Director to notice such a subtle detail and dared not let his thoughts wander, immediately wanting to respond. However, Zhou Hengguang simply waved his hand, uninterested in his explanation.

“Call me whatever you like.”

“Oh!” Ji Fang thought to himself that he was never a serious person. His personality was carefree. If he tried to emulate the behavior of the two secretaries in front of the Deputy Director, it would only be awkward. Having realized this, he decided not to change and to act according to his own nature.

With this thought, he felt a lot more relaxed.

“Deputy Director, the big boss wants to speak with you,” he said.

“What about?” Zhou Hengguang stopped in his tracks, the incandescent light of the corridor illuminating his handsome and three-dimensional features, making his fair skin appear even more cold and distant, as if he were aloof from the world.

It made one unable to help but stare in fascination.

“The big boss wants you to return as soon as possible, and… and also to take good care of yourself. He heard that you’re still sick and hasn’t recovered; he was very angry and quite unhappy about it.”

Zhou Hengguang’s eyebrows furrowed slightly, and a trace of warmth flickered in his cold, deep eyes at the news of his big brother’s anger.

“I can’t return for the time being. As you can see, if I were to leave, everything here would have to stop,” he said, clearly unable to leave.

Ji Fang, of course, knew, but the words he had overheard in the rest room still had a great impact on him. Previously, he had always followed the Deputy Director’s orders, but often had to consider the design institute’s interests, and when the Director couldn’t find the Deputy Director, he would come to him.

When there were disagreements, Ji Fang found himself in a difficult position, caught in the middle.

Now, Ji Fang’s perspective had changed, as had his loyalties, naturally siding with the Deputy Director in difficult situations.

“I understand the importance of the matters here, but your health is also important, Deputy Director. You’ve already lost more than ten catties since you been on this business trip.” And he didn’t know what the big boss would say when he saw him—would he scold him!

Zhou Hengguang lowered his eyes slightly, a hint of darkness flashing in their depths, “It’s nothing, don’t make a fuss,” he said and walked towards his room without looking back.

The purpose of their expert team’s field inspection was to finalize the overall planning for the grand bridge construction project across the river, which was set to officially commence next year. Upon arriving, a command center had been established, comprising of the local government, project contractors, supervisory bodies, and others.

The command center was set up in the Provincial Hospitality Hotel, the largest establishment that also had a dedicated conference center, hotels, and more.

The entire hotel had ceased business operations, and for the coming years, it would serve exclusively as the command center dedicated to the project.

The meetings took place in Building 1, while the accommodations were located in Building 3 behind it.

To return to his room, he had to leave the building. Stepping outside of Building 1, the biting cold wind hit him, painfully stinging his face.

Tiny snowflakes began to float down from the sky.
