Chapter 396 The Targeting of the Chu Clan
Chapter 396 The Targeting of the Chu Clan
Slash!
Another Grade-9 Demonic Beast died by Bai Zihan's hand.
He didn't even know how many Grade-9 Demonic Beasts he had killed by now, but he was steadily closing in on 100,000 System Points.
He couldn't stop grinning.
Even if he wanted to buy Saint-Grade techniques, he could afford two of them with ease.
But that didn't mean he planned to stop.
He would keep going-for as long as he could.
Even when Li Zhenhe fell on their side of the battlefield, Bai Zihan didn't spare a single glance.
He simply continued slaughtering Grade-9 Demonic Beasts.
Morale may have plummeted elsewhere, but in Bai Zihan's vicinity, none of the cultivators could imagine him being stopped.
Of course, at first, some had worried that the battlefield might shift in favor of the Demonic Beasts and Demonic Cultivators.
But Bai Zihan kept killing.
Relentlessly!
So much so that such thoughts never had time to take root-at least not where he stood.
Slash! Slash!
Blood sprayed.
Bodies fell.
In Bai Zihan's corner of the battlefield, despair never arrived.
***
Elsewhere-The opposite was happening.
Laughter erupted among the Demonic Cultivators.
Maniacal.
Unrestrained.
"Hahaha!"
"Did you see that?! You'll all end up like that!"
"I never thought those righteous cultivators would be this weak!"
With the half-Qilin rampaging freely and multiple battle lines collapsing, the Demonic Cultivators surged forward with renewed ferocity.
They attacked more viciously than ever, Demonic Qi roaring like black tides as
they pressed the Desolate Heaven Empire's forces back step by step.
Formations shattered and Defensive lines buckled.
"Push them!"
"Crush them before their reinforcements arrive!"
Under the combined pressure, the Desolate Heaven Empire was driven dangerously close to the brink.
And amid that chaos-a particular battlefield drew sinister attention.
The Chu Clan!
A group of elite Demonic Cultivators targeted them.
At their center stood Mo Tianji.
His gaze was cold.
Calculating!
Cruel!
"So this is the Chu Clan..."
His lips curved upward slowly.
He knew.
He knew exactly who they were.
And more importantly-
He knew who stood among them.
"Bai Zihan's fiancée," Mo Tianji murmured, eyes gleaming with malice.
"Chu Ziyan!"
He raised his hand.
"Kill them!"
Demonic Qi exploded outward as the assault began.
The Chu Clan's defensive formations flared desperately, but the pressure was immense.
Demonic techniques rained down, tearing into shields and shattering protective arrays.
Mo Tianji moved personally.
His figure blurred as he descended straight toward the heart of the Chu Clan's formation.
"Found you!"
His gaze locked onto a young woman clad in flowing robes, standing calmly amid the chaos.
"You should consider it an honor," Mo Tianji said coldly, demonic Qi coiling around his palm.
"Your death will be Bai Zihan's punishment."
He struck. A ruthless killing blow-fast enough to annihilate a Soul Formation expert in an instant.
And yet-Chu Ziyan moved.
Her eyes sharpened.
She stepped forward, fingers forming seals with flawless precision.
BOOM!
Her attack met his head-on.
Shockwaves tore through the air as demonic Qi and righteous energy clashed violently.
Mo Tianji's expression shifted.
"What?"
Chu Ziyan didn't retreat.
She followed up instantly-her movements fluid, her techniques precise and
devastating.
Strike for strike.
Move for move.
She blocked.
She countered.
She advanced.
Mo Tianji was forced back a step.
Then another.
His eyes widened slightly.
He couldn't believe what he was experiencing.
Chu Ziyan's gaze was cold and unwavering.
"Did you get scared of Bai Zihan," she said calmly, "so you thought killing me
would be easy?"
Mo Tianji gritted his teeth.
That was exactly what he had thought.
He knew he was no match for Bai Zihan-a monster he instinctively avoided.
But revenge didn't need to be direct.
What better way than to target someone Bai Zihan cared about?
Bai Xueqing would've been ideal-but she, too, had proven terrifyingly strong.
So he turned to Chu Ziyan.
Bai Zihan's fiancée.
He thought it would be easy.
After all, he was the strongest of the younger generation-aside from Bai Zihan.
Or so he believed.
Who would have thought killing Chu Ziyan would be this troublesome?
But the situation around them was far from stable.
While Chu Ziyan held Mo Tianji in check, the Chu Clan itself was struggling.
The earlier collapse in morale across the Desolate Heaven Empire had left deep scars.
Demonic Cultivators seized the opportunity, slaughtering without restraint and encircling the Chu Clan.
Blood splashed across shattered formations as they pressed harder, deliberately targeting Chu Clan members.
The pressure mounted.
Chu Ziyan noticed immediately.
Her heart tightened as familiar auras vanished one after another.
(At this rate... we won't last.)
She wanted to retreat.
Wanted to rush back and stabilize their lines.
But she couldn't.
Mo Tianji stood before her like a wall of demonic intent.
Two years ago, she wouldn't have even dared to imagine facing him.
Back then, Mo Tianji was far beyond her reach.
Now-
She was fighting him evenly.
And yet...
It wasn't enough.
If this continued, the Chu Clan would be ground down piece by piece-until nothing remained.
Mo Tianji sensed her distraction and sneered.
"Hah... worried about your clan?"
Demonic Qi surged violently as he attacked again.
"Don't worry. You'll join them soon."
Chu Ziyan blocked, her arm trembling from the impact.
And then-
BOOM!
A terrifying pressure descended.
The battlefield froze for a heartbeat.
Two massive corpses were hurled aside like trash, smashing into the ground with thunderous force.
Spirit Severing Realm Demonic Elders.
Dead!
Their eyes were still wide open-frozen in disbelief.
Mo Tianji's laughter died instantly.
His pupils shrank.
Slow footsteps echoed forward.
A familiar figure emerged through the carnage, sword dripping with fresh demonic blood.
Bai Zihan!
(How?)
The Bai and Chu Clan forces weren't close enough for him to arrive instantly.
Then Mo Tianji saw it-
A straight line of corpses leading toward them.
Every Demonic Beast.
Every Demonic Cultivator.
Slaughtered.
Bai Zihan's cold gaze locked onto Mo Tianji.
The air grew heavy.
"So," Bai Zihan said calmly, his voice carrying effortlessly across the battlefield.
"What is a weakling like you doing here?"
Mo Tianji's body stiffened.
Fear surged up his spine-colder than anger.
(This monster...)
But he clenched his teeth.
He had to respond.
He had to maintain his image.
Demonic Qi erupted as Mo Tianji roared.
"Bai Zihan! Today, I'll kill you!"
The words rang hollow.
Bai Zihan tilted his head slightly.
Then smiled.
"Oh?"
"Then come."
He stopped and even stored the sword in the storage ring, completely open.
"I'll be standing right here."
Silence followed.
Mo Tianji's fists trembled.
His legs refused to move.
(Kill him?)
Bai Zihan chuckled softly.
"As expected."
He shook his head.
"Big words. No courage."
Mo Tianji could only seethe in humiliation.
Bai Zihan moved forward slowly.
Demonic Cultivators rushed to stop him.
Slash! Slash!
Three heads flew.
Bodies collapsed.
Bai Zihan advanced, carving a straight path to Mo Tianji.
"Run if you want," his voice drifted casually.
"I'll catch up eventually."
Mo Tianji's face turned deathly pale.
Cheers erupted from the Chu Clan.
"Bai Zihan is here!"
"As expected of our son-in-law!"
Despair shattered instantly.
As long as Bai Zihan stood-
They would not fall.
Chu Clan elders roared orders, formations stabilizing as morale surged.
At the center, Chu Ziyan stood frozen, eyes fixed on his back.
Relief flooded her chest.
(He came...)
Warmth spread quietly through her heart.
(So... he does care.)
Just then-
"ENOUGH!"
The roar shook the battlefield.
A crushing pressure descended.
The Demonic Cultivators parted in fear.
An old man stepped forward-withered, eyes glowing crimson.
Great Ascension Realm!
A true heavyweight. "Young brat," he said coldly.
"You've done enough."
He raised his hand.
"I will stop you myself."
He lunged. The world collapsed inward.
Bai Zihan lifted his sword.
CLANG!!!
Blade and palm collided.
Shockwaves exploded outward.
Both figures slid back.
The elder's eyes narrowed.
(He blocked it?)
"A Great Ascension Realm elder," Bai Zihan said casually.
"Good enough!"
He stepped forward.
"Let's see if you can actually stop me."
The battlefield trembled.
As Bai Zihan exchanged hundreds of blows with the Great Ascension Realm
Demonic Cultivator-
His expression suddenly shifted.
Far away-A Saint-Grade Artifact's aura erupted.
Bai Zihan narrowed his eyes.
"Looks like the situation is more dire than I thought."
Bai Zihan muttered.
If Bai Ren was forced to show Saint-Grade Sword, then it was for sure that
circumstance didn't look good.
He tightened his grip on his sword.
"I'll have to end this quickly."
