Chapter 469: Shocking Revelations
Chapter 469: Shocking Revelations
Adyr, having exposed this secret so bluntly, did not show the slightest hint of apology on his face. Instead, he let out a low chuckle and spoke calmly.
"Don’t worry, no one in this room would judge you because of your past or because you are cursed with a different, unorthodox Path."
He was not just comforting them; he was stating a fact.
If any group here qualified as blasphemous and unorthodox, it was the Humans. They had invaded the Beyond, broken long-standing balances, and built a system that allowed them to follow more than one Path at once. Compared to that, a single cursed lineage and an unusual Path hardly seemed shocking.
Zephan paid close attention to how they reacted and saw that no one flinched or showed any sign of disgust. Henry and Rhys looked more interested than anything else, and Marielle stayed just as calm as before, so he finally let out a quiet sigh of relief.
"Most of my knowledge comes from my ancestors, as I already told you their story," he began slowly. "As for the Blood Path itself, according to what they said before they lost their minds, it is not like the 4 main Paths, but at the same time it is something similar."
Henry’s and Rhys’s gazes sharpened and fixed on him, but Zephan ignored their curiosity. He turned fully toward Adyr and focused only on him, speaking now as one ruler sharing a heavy legacy with another.
"It is a Path representing movement and resurrection," Zephan explained. "You can think of it as the lower Path of Ignis and Nether, like a combination of the two. But do not mistake it for a weak Path, because those who follow this Path are actually stronger than any main Path followers."
Now even Adyr’s interest was fully awakened.
He lowered his cup and set it gently on the table, his eyes locked on Zephan. "What makes them stronger?"
His mind went back to the moment he had killed the Lunari ancestors.
He remembered how, when he killed them, he quickly noticed that something was wrong with the usual scale of strength in their bodies. On paper, they had all been Rank 4 Practitioners, which should have placed them in the same general category as Zephan or his Elders. Yet even in that helpless, unconscious state, their bodies felt unnaturally heavy and unyielding, far tougher and more stubborn than they had any right to be at that rank.
Their flesh and skin were not just durable; they felt as if they had been forged and refined again and again. Even in the vegetative, broken state in which Adyr had met them, the aura they released was oppressive and deep, overshadowing the pressure of ordinary Rank 4 Practitioners found anywhere in the Outer Region.
Whatever this Path was, it clearly deviated from the norm.
Zephan fell silent for a moment, arranging his explanation in his mind so that it would be clear even to outsiders.
"They are all born, or awaken, with 2 stats: Will and Resilience," he said at last.
He let the weight of that sink in for a heartbeat, then drew in a slow breath and continued in a heavier tone.
"But this is not what makes them monstrous. The main reason they are strong is that they are all born with a specific bloodline talent."
Adyr raised one eyebrow slightly. The small movement was the only outward sign of his interest, but the sharp focus in his eyes made it clear he was paying attention to every word.
He absorbed the information, then shifted his gaze toward Henry. For a brief moment, their eyes met.
No words were needed.
Henry and the others already knew what bloodline talents were and had seen at least 2 of Adyr’s in action, Malice and Grace, both undeniable proof of something beyond normal Spark skills.
They also knew how rare such talents were. Since their contact with the Beyond began, not a single Human other than Adyr had awakened a bloodline talent. Not Selina, not Eren, not any of the promising Players they monitored and tested.
Because of that, bloodline talents had become one of the main subjects of Human research.
Researchers devoted entire projects, long experiments, and countless resources to understanding the logic and mechanics behind them. Why did they appear? What conditions triggered them? Could they be connected to lineage, environment, evolution, or perhaps another factor altogether? Every small clue mattered, and progress was painfully slow.
Now they were hearing something entirely new.
Blood Path Practitioners, without exception, could all awaken a bloodline talent.
It didn’t seem like a rare miracle to them; it was just a normal part of being born under that Path. For Henry, Rhys, and every Human researcher on their side, that fact alone was worth more than most treasures in the Outer Region.
"Do you know what this bloodline talent is?" Adyr asked, his curiosity no longer hidden.
Zephan nodded slowly. When he spoke, his voice carried a faint mix of awe and discomfort, as if he respected the power but disliked what it represented.
"They can grow limitlessly by absorbing others’ blood."
"What kind of growth is this?" Adyr wanted specifics. The word ’limitless’ carried a weight that was too dangerous to leave vague.
Zephan elaborated without holding anything back. "The bloodline talent is called Sanguivore. Thanks to this talent, they can increase their stat points without limit by absorbing specific kinds of blood."
Sanguivore? The name turned over in Adyr’s mind.
Zephan and the others did not seem to understand the exact meaning behind the word, but Adyr knew it very well. It was Latin, meaning ’blood devourer.’
To him, it sounded like a bloodline talent that had evolved from some kind of basic eating or tasting talent.
What made it truly interesting was that they were born already awakened with this bloodline talent, without needing to work on a talent for years or spend time improving it, like natural-born geniuses who started the race far ahead of everyone else.
He let these thoughts swirl quietly in his mind as he continued listening to Zephan.
"That is not the only power they get," Zephan went on. "Sanguivore is just one of the bloodline talents they receive as a fixed gift when they awaken and start following the Blood Path. There is also another bloodline talent that only some of them can obtain, with a very low chance."
Zephan dropped another revelation. Someone being born with a bloodline talent was already incredible. Being born with 2 was like starting the path with a built-in cheat.
"It is called Blood Script of Creation," Zephan leaned forward slightly as he explained. "This bloodline talent gives them the ability to turn their Sparks into blood variants and increase their power accordingly."
He paused and watched Adyr’s expression, as if trying to catch even the smallest reaction there. When he saw nothing obvious on his face, he still chose to speak his guess aloud. "It sounds familiar, doesn’t it?"
Adyr nodded calmly. Even if his face did not show much, he was genuinely surprised to hear this bloodline talent described so clearly and familiarly.
