Chapter 479: Unleashing Ultimates (Part 2)
All of his faith in Human craftsmanship that he had built up to this point seemed to crumble under the weight of what was being asked.
He especially did not want to believe there could be any man-made construct capable of stopping his strongest attack, apart from treasures forged with methods he never understood.
Once again, Adyr had to remind him who they were in order to restore that confidence, grounding him back in the reality of their current alliance.
"Don’t worry. We have similar training rooms back home. They’re better than this one, but this is still built to handle Rank 4 power."
The way Adyr described the room made Rank 4 power sound like a basic standard. That alone made Zephan wonder what kind of powerful people used that kind of training room at his house every day.
Are they casually crafting treasures in the name of training? Zephan and his Elders could not help but think about that possibility. Their minds raced to picture such a place.
They didn’t even know how a treasure was made, yet the idea of a training room built to that level of strength was enough to tell them one thing clearly: whatever it was constructed from, it couldn’t be ordinary material.
In the end, Zephan agreed to try it. Part of it was curiosity, wanting to see with his own eyes if it was truly capable of stopping him. The remaining part of his decision was driven by the desire to know the strength of his most powerful attack, quantified in numbers according to Elder Race standards.
"How does the room work?" Adyr’s gaze briefly traced the seamless walls before he turned to the head researcher and asked the question.
"It’s simple. There are measuring devices built into the walls, and we read the power from the data they send." He finished the explanation, took a tablet from another researcher, and tapped the screen a few times, bringing up empty charts and graphs. "Can I ask you to punch the wall, please? You don’t need to hold back."
Adyr nodded. He stepped closer to the wall and, after tensing his body a little and planting his feet firmly on the floor, punched the wall without restraint.
BANG!
The sound from the impact left all the researchers dizzy as a sharp crack echoed through the enclosed space. It happened and ended so quickly they didn’t even have time to cover their ears.
The wall seemed to absorb all the force instantly. Not even a trace of vibration from the impact spread through the room.
"It’s quite durable and flexible at the same time." Adyr examined the section where he had punched, running his eyes along the smooth surface.
There was no mark from the attack, even though he had clearly felt the wall bend under his fist for a moment, like an extremely tough rubber membrane stretching and snapping back.
"That’s the characteristic of the material we used to design the walls. It’s made from our most durable components and, at the same time, remains flexible; it was produced with the intention of absorbing any force and holding it.
The coating made from the gold sand is the final touch, making it strong enough now to endure high explosions and heavy impacts." While the head researcher spoke with an unusually loud voice, his ears still ringing, he checked the screen of the tablet.
Lines of data filled in one after another. "Your punch just now was measured as 0.7 out of 100 according to the new PTF standards."
His voice sounded genuinely shocked. He had not expected a single punch to generate that kind of reading.
"And what is the bar this time?" Adyr asked. He could already guess what it was, the answer was already forming in his thoughts.
As he expected, the answer came. "A 20 kT nuclear explosion."
That one punch alone was almost enough to produce one hundredth of the power of a nuclear weapon, at least in terms of raw force output.
Of course, it was not that the punch carried all the destructive qualities a bomb would have, like the heat and aftereffects. It was a measurement based on the instantaneous release of all the force compressed into a single moment.
Everyone looked at Adyr with strange expressions, then at his hands, as if seeing them for the first time.
If any one of them, even though they were all second-generation mutants with reinforced bodies, took a punch from him, it would be enough to turn them into a mist of blood and scattered body parts in an instant.
It was a level of power that made it possible for him to demolish a tall building using only his fists, breaking pillars and support structures like brittle glass.
"Can I try as well?" Zephan’s eyes brightened with competitive curiosity. He had been following along through the translator, who only relayed what Zephan needed to hear, but it was more than enough for him to grasp the key points.
"Go ahead, please. Don’t hold back," the head researcher said, then watched, clutching the tablet a little tighter.
The only thing they saw was Zephan standing there. He stayed still, with his arms at his sides and his body relaxed.
BANG!
A moment later, the sound of the impact echoed through the room again, even sharper than before. All of them covered their ears and felt the same dizziness as before.
In their eyes, the man was still standing in the middle of the room, not appearing to move at all.
From the sound alone, however, it was obvious he had already thrown a punch, a kick, or something they could not even register with their mortal eyes. His motion had disappeared between one blink and the next.
"Did you see him moving?" Henry, at the entrance of the room, asked Rhys in a low voice. His eyes were still fixed on Zephan.
Rhys was still a second-generation mutant, but he had spent the last month using the new serum the researchers had started to develop using the Synergy Crystal they had received from Adyr.
So far, his body had improved greatly compared to his former self. His muscles were denser, and his senses were sharper. Even so, the results were still not very satisfying, as the serum he was using was only a diluted version, still far from the final product they envisioned.
"Yeah... I saw him punch my pride," Rhys muttered under his breath, lips barely moving.
To adapt to this new world and not fall behind the Players, he had volunteered to be the test subject for the researchers’ new serum, letting them experiment on his body.
But even with that level of determination, he was now at a point where he could not even see the slightest motion from a man’s punch. That alone made him feel truly old and slow.
"Impact level is 0.8." The head researcher read out the data displayed on his tablet screen. His eyes widened slightly at the number.
Zephan’s score was even higher, despite Adyr’s extremely high [Physique].
"You have good punches." Adyr complimented him, his tone genuinely appreciative and without a hint of discomfort or jealousy.
