Chapter 2759 The Women's Game

2759  The Women's Game

"What sorcery is this? Who is he?!"

The beautiful woman, still slightly dazed, exhaled deeply before straightening her posture. "I want him."

Her declaration sent the other noblewomen into a frenzy.

They exchanged glances, their minds already whirling with plots and schemes. If Lady Yeon had set her sights on a man, the stakes had just risen to an entirely new level.

"Then, let the game begin." The yellow-robed woman smirked. "Whoever correctly guesses his identity and origin shall be the first to extend an invitation."

"And how shall we confirm it?" another asked.

The woman in green chuckled. "Simple. We invite him over and ask directly. With so many beauties gathered, surely he would not refuse?"

"Hahaha! What a joke, no man would be able to reject such an offer," one of the women said with confidence.

"Then, let's begin, shall we?" the green-robed woman asked. "Who wants to go first?"

"Me!" A lavender-robed woman raised her hand eagerly. "Let's see… judging from his clothes, he certainly doesn't belong to any clan in our city. I'd definitely know if there was someone as handsome as him around. Which means he's not from our city and is probably not from any major clan."

"I'll go next!" A pink-robed woman stepped forward. "I think he's from a sect. While sect members often wear robes with their sect crest, they don't always do so during unofficial travels. But from the way he carries himself and the dignity he exudes, he's at least an elder of some sect."

"What about his cultivation base?" the yellow-robed woman asked. "Should we check with our immortal sense?"

"We can try," the green-robed woman said, but just before she could, someone stopped her.

"Don't do it," Lady Yeon warned.

"Why?" The green-robed woman raised a brow.

"He'll know. Not just that, but he isn't someone you want to probe like that," Lady Yeon said, knowing more than she let on.

"Oh, please. Nothing will happen," the pink-robed woman scoffed. "Men are flattered when pretty women do it anyway." She smirked before extending her immortal sense.

"Don't say I didn't warn you," Lady Yeon said with a slight frown.

The pink-robed woman continued to smile as her immortal sense neared Lin Mu. But the moment it touched him—

BOUNCE!

She felt her immortal sense ricochet like a pebble hitting an unbreakable wall. And then, she felt it.

A gaze.

Her eyes met Lin Mu's, and an unexplainable fear gripped her.

Lin Mu was looking at her with a still expression, but despite that, she felt an icy chill slither down her spine.

THUD.

The woman dropped back into her chair, beads of sweat glistening on her forehead.

"I told you," Lady Yeon said, crossing her arms. "He isn't a man just anyone can approach carelessly."

"H-How do you know that, Lady Yeon?" the other women asked, still shaken.

"I can tell these things when it comes to men," Lady Yeon said cryptically, not bothering to explain further.

"O-Okay…" the pink-robed woman mumbled, still feeling unsettled.

"Hmm… but that did give us some hints. Seeing how he detected us so fast and even repelled us, he's at least at the Fifth Tribulation Stage of the Immortal Realm, if not higher," the green-robed woman analyzed.

The women continued their discussion for several minutes, each forming their own guesses.

"Alright, now that everyone's done, it's time to get answers." The green-robed woman clapped her hands excitedly. "Shall we call him over then?" the yellow-robed woman asked.

"Yes!" everyone agreed in unison.

They summoned a servant and quickly sent out the message.

Meanwhile, Lin Mu was in the middle of drinking a cup of Silver Rippled Tea.

"Mmm… strange taste, but still refreshing," Lin Mu muttered.

The herbal notes were followed by a light metallic twang that he couldn't quite place. But the real surprise was the rippling sensation that danced across his tongue before he swallowed, sending a wave of energy coursing through his body.

'It's quite rich in Immortal Qi. This is on par with a mid-grade Immortal Qi restoration pill,' Lin Mu assessed.

STEP. STEP. STEP.

A servant approached and stood beside him.

"Honored Sir, our mistresses would like to invite you to their room for tea and conversation," the servant informed him. "In addition, your bill has been waived." He added the last part with a knowing smile.

"Oh?" Lin Mu looked up at the balcony, where several pairs of curious eyes gazed down at him. 'So it's them,' he quickly deduced.

He thought about it for a second before replying.

"Is it mandatory?" Lin Mu asked nonchalantly.

"M-Mandatory?" The servant nearly choked. 'Men should be jumping at this chance, and he's asking if it's *mandatory*?!'

"So, what is it?" Lin Mu asked again.

"Well… I… I wasn't told it was mandatory," the servant stammered, completely thrown off.

No one had ever replied like this before, and he wasn't sure how to handle it. It wasn't like he could force Lin Mu— that would be highly disrespectful.

"Then I'll be fine," Lin Mu replied. "I can pay my own bill, thank you very much." He smiled slightly before taking another sip of tea.

"Aw! Look at his smile! He looks even better that way," the green-robed woman swooned from the balcony.

"He's coming, right?" the yellow-robed woman asked excitedly.

"He *has* to be. Didn't you see that smile? He's clearly happy," another insisted.

"Of course! No man can resist the chance to talk to so many beauties like this, after all!"

Meanwhile, down below, Lin Mu simply shook his head, oblivious to the chaos he had just caused above.

The servant was facing towards Lin Mu so the women couldn't see his troubled expression, or they would realize things hadn't gone as they were thinking. And a minute later when the servant returned alone, they were confused.

"Is he coming?" they asked.

"Mistress, he… he rejected." The servant said, feeling a bit afraid.

The women were silent for a few seconds, unable to comprehend.
