Chapter 2770 A Bout Of Insanity

Chapter 2770  A Bout Of Insanity

Lady Yeon stood in another illusion, but this one was utterly empty.

There was no light, no darkness—just absolute nothingness. It was something a person might not even be able to describe as anything other than the void itself.

"What is this?" Lady Yeon muttered to herself. "Where is the depiction of fate?"

She stood there for what seemed like hours, yet nothing revealed itself to her.

"Is this not enough? Do I need more power?" she murmured before mustering as much strength as she could.

Her body's immortal Qi reserves began to deplete at a visible rate, while the Dao Embryo within her dantian stirred.

It was in the shape of a circular mirror, rippling nonstop.

A special Dao Embryo—the Mirror of Endless Ripples.

It belonged to the Ripple Dao and was unique in that it could connect with the Dao of Fate to some extent. With it, one could scry into the future, peering into the unseen.

Yet, no matter how much she tried, nothing changed.

HONGLONG!

A deep reverberation echoed through the endless expanse, making her tremble.

"Sounds?" She was startled. Never before had she heard anything when divining.

SHING!

Another sound rang out, sharper, colder. A chill ran down her spine, making all the hair on her body stand on end.

"A sword?" She recognized it instantly—the unmistakable sound of a blade being drawn from its sheath.

And before she could think any further, she saw it.

SHING!

A massive sword, vast beyond comprehension, tore through the fabric of the universe.

"What…" Lady Yeon could barely utter a word before the blade cleaved through everything—herself included.

Her mind turned blank. Her body felt weightless.

For a moment, there was nothing.

Then—

"HAAH!"

She jolted awake, gasping for air, her body drenched in cold sweat.

Her breath came in frantic pants as she scanned her surroundings.

"You."

Lin Mu stood over her, his face haggard, his expression unreadable.

"You really risked the lives of everyone." His voice was low, heavy. Blood dripped from the corner of his mouth.

"What did you do?" Lady Yeon was still dazed. "My divination… it didn't work."

"I stopped you." Lin Mu's gaze was sharp as a blade. "If you had gone any further, you would have died—along with everyone here."

"I… would have died?" Lady Yeon's confusion deepened. Then realization struck her like a thunderclap.

"The divination never succeeded…" she whispered, her eyes locking onto Lin Mu. "It cannot be scryed."

Gone was the admiration, the fascination she once held for him.

All that remained was horror.

"Someone like you… actually exists!" Her voice trembled, caught between fear and exhilaration.

Lin Mu frowned. "What do you—"

Before he could finish, she cut him off.

"I need to tell Master this! I can't stay here any longer!"

Without another word, she shot into the air.

BOOM!

Lin Mu barely had time to react, summoning his Longgui Bulwark Armor to shield himself as Lady Yeon blasted through the wall.

"What the…?" He steadied himself and turned toward the massive hole she had left behind.

He watched as she streaked through the night sky like a comet.

"She's about to hit the defensive array," Lin Mu realized in shock.

But she showed no signs of stopping.

SHATTER!

The protective array crumbled as she tore through it effortlessly.

"Where is she even going?" Lin Mu muttered, narrowing his eyes.

Then, he saw her destination.

"The Teleportation Tower?"

He watched as she ignored the queue entirely, rushing straight into the core of the teleportation array. The staff at the tower barely had time to react.

HUALA!

A moment later, the entire structure hummed with power as the teleportation array activated.

HONGLONG!

The tower glowed brilliantly, sending violent spatial ripples across the city.

Then—

She was gone.

Lin Mu could no longer sense her immortal Qi fluctuations.

SIGH.

Letting out a deep breath, Lin Mu slumped to the floor.

Everything that had happened tonight was too much to process.

THUD!

His brief moment of peace was shattered as a group of people burst through the door.

"What happened!?"

"What was that noise!?"

"Where's Lady Yeon!?"

Lin Mu sighed again.

"This is going to be a pain to explain…"

It took him an hour to recount everything.

The people had already been on edge when Lady Yeon fainted, and several physicians had examined her before Lin Mu was allowed near. The only reason he had been permitted to stay was because Lady Yeon's maids had allowed it.

The original plan had been to lure Lin Mu to the bedroom anyway.

Of course, this was something Lin Mu hadn't known.

Many doubted his testimony, but there were witnesses outside, and the recordings from the array backed up his claims. Furthermore, the Teleportation Tower's security logs had flagged the incident, alarming the authorities.

As a result, Lin Mu was dragged into a meeting with several key figures of the Imperial Court.

Once they confirmed he wasn't responsible, they were left with only confusion.

To them, Lady Yeon's behavior seemed like a descent into madness.

Lin Mu, of course, kept certain details hidden—but in the grand scheme of things, it didn't matter.

By the time he was finally allowed to leave, morning had already broken.

He returned to the villa, his body aching with exhaustion.

"How was it?"

Daoist Chu greeted him with an amused look.

"Too tiring." Lin Mu rubbed his temples.

"I heard the woman went insane?" Daoist Chu raised a brow.

"She just might have." Lin Mu sighed, recalling her desperate, almost crazed expression.

"Your luck is something else. Now you're even driving women insane." Daoist Chu chuckled.

"Ugh… I want to leave this world already." Lin Mu groaned, feeling his headache intensify.

It was simply too much. He had learned too many things, some that were even mysteries to everyone in the city.

Lady Yeon being the third transcendent expert, the one that had requested the Dao Transcendence Gaze Pill of the Ripple Dao as well as her being a Far Seer.

While he was curious about that, he would certainly forget all of it in exchange for the day's events to change.
