Chapter 3416: Heading To The Great Fist City
Chapter 3416: Heading To The Great Fist City
A group of Dongxu clan children had taken a great liking to the beasts and often pleaded to play with them. These children, though considered young by the clan, were still cultivators at the Core Condensation and Nascent Soul realms.
As such they were physically tough enough to handle the beasts’ rough games.
Within a day, the beasts and children were inseparable.
The children loved Little Shrubby’s flame tricks, though they were warned not to touch his fur when he heated up. They adored the twins who darted around like living streaks of white and black light. The twins would toss the children into the air gently, letting them descend slowly, only to zoom in and catch them before they touched the ground.
There were shrieks of joy every time.
Even the elders watching them shook their heads helplessly. "Youngsters have no fear," one elder muttered, while another took notes, wondering if this sort of exercise would build character among their disciples.
The only pity was that Ashy was still asleep in the Sleepscape. Lin Mu checked on her several times. Each time he found her deeper in cultivation, completely unaware of the bustling world around her. He sensed her spirit qi strengthening steadily.
Perhaps the confrontation with the Ephemera tree had pushed her forward.
She had always been prideful yet diligent, and witnessing Lin Mu fight at such a level must have ignited her desire to grow stronger. As the weakest among his beasts, she would naturally want to catch up quickly.
Their peaceful days continued pleasantly.
Every night the Dongxu clan hosted a banquet. The meals were spectacular, but Lin Mu restrained himself from unleashing his usual appetite. He ate well but not with the ravenous intensity that had nearly broken restaurant staff earlier.
Even Cattaleya followed his example, though it was clear she struggled more with restraint than he did.
They knew the clan, though wealthy, still had budgets and responsibilities. The Patriarch managed vast business interests, paid workers across multiple worlds, and funded cultivation resources for the entire clan. Their operating costs were massive. Lin Mu had no wish to become an unintentional financial disaster for the Dongxu clan.
The feasts remained lively nonetheless.
Sometimes the younger disciples performed martial dances. Other nights musicians played while elders shared stories of past wars or adventures in distant worlds. There was even a night where sculptors displayed a collection of jade statues made in Cattaleya’s likeness, each more dramatic than the last.
Cattaleya loved every moment and flexed proudly for their artists.
Daoist Chu suffered through one night when an elder woman tried to set him up with her granddaughter, claiming she preferred cultured men. He nearly panicked when she asked if he would like to meet her family’s other unmarried daughters as well.
Lin Mu ended up having to intervene.
Elyon found three spies from rival clans wandering nearby and quietly scared them into running away without ever revealing himself.
Life was peaceful, entertaining, and surprisingly harmonious.
But all things must flow onward, and the days slipped by like water in a stream.
Soon enough the morning of their departure arrived.
The Dongxu clan bustled with activity as carriages were prepared, supplies loaded, and security teams assembled. The Patriarch personally arranged a majestic convoy to travel toward the Great Fist King Martial Tournament’s host city.
Lin Mu and his companions stood at the entrance of the clan’s inner grounds, watching members gather.
Their peaceful days of relaxation were now behind them.
Ahead of them lay the greatest martial tournament in the region, a gathering of talents from across the Eastern Immortal Court.
The world was about to get a lot more exciting.
The Dongxu Clan’s departure was nothing short of a grand procession. Lin Mu had seen royal caravans before, but the scale of this one made him wonder if the Dongxu Clan was not secretly a kingdom pretending to be a clan.
A long line of jade reinforced carriages stretched across the wide main road leading out of Dongxu City.
There were sleek carriages for elders, sturdier transit carriages for disciples, specialized wagons sealed with inscriptions for transporting jade goods, and even reinforced beast wagons meant for carrying large equipment.
A battalion of guards marched alongside them, each wearing armor inlaid with shimmering green lines of defensive Jade Dao inscriptions.
Nearly a hundred members of the Dongxu Clan were headed to the Great Fist City, including disciples who would be participating in the tournament, elders assigned to supervise them, and artisans who would be managing the business stalls.
After all, a massive gathering of cultivators from across the Eastern Immortal Court meant two things, competition and commerce.
The Dongxu Clan intended to take full advantage of both.
Lin Mu and his group could have easily flown there on Little Shrubby, arriving within hours, but they had agreed to accompany the clan and enjoy the trip leisurely.
The landscape between Dongxu City and the Great Fist City was rich with forests, rivers, hills, and open plains. Meng Bai and even Cattaleya seemed excited to see the surroundings, and Daoist Chu wanted time to stabilize his heart after the traumatic encounter with the grandmas who wanted to marry him off to their granddaughters.
So they climbed into one of the open roof carriages reserved for honored guests and joined the grand procession.
The first day was uneventful and peaceful. The scenery rolled by in waves of green and blue. Birds with shimmering feathers flew overhead, while Immortal Wind Grazers, a type of harmless horned deer, occasionally watched curiously from the forest’s edge.
The Dongxu disciples chattered in excitement the entire time, some discussing the tournament, some bragging about techniques, and some nervously wondering whether their rivals would also arrive early to train.
At night the convoy stopped to make camp.
Tents went up in well practiced movements. Fire pits were lit, and the smell of cooked food filled the air. The Dongxu disciples immediately scattered into the nearby woods for an impromptu beast hunting challenge.
