Chapter 3555: The Huli Siblings
Chapter 3555: The Huli Siblings
After the brief introductions and initial curiosity settled, the atmosphere inside the teleportation hall gradually relaxed.
The formation masters finished recording Lin Mu’s group in their arrival ledgers while several assistants processed the final jade slips that confirmed their inter-world entry. Compared to the tense attention that had surrounded their sudden arrival moments ago, the procedures were completed rather quickly.
Huli Zu waited patiently nearby, speaking quietly with a few of the staff while occasionally glancing toward Lin Mu and his companions.
Once the final seal was stamped and the documentation confirmed, the supervisor bowed respectfully.
"The formalities are complete," he said. "You are now officially registered as arrivals within the Huli Kingdom."
Lin Mu thanked him with a slight nod.
Before Lin Mu could speak further, Huli Zu stepped forward again with a friendly smile.
"Since everything is settled," he said, "I would like to extend an invitation."
He gestured lightly toward the exit of the hall.
"It is not often that we receive guests from the Western Immortal Court, especially ones who arrive in such... unusual circumstances."
His fox ears twitched faintly as he continued.
"As the Lord of the Teleportation Hall, it is my duty to properly welcome distinguished visitors to our world. If you do not mind, I would be honored if you joined me at my residence so that we may become better acquainted."
Lin Mu glanced briefly toward his companions.
Daoist Chu gave a subtle nod and Cattaleya shrugged casually. Elyon remained silent but showed no objection while Meng Bai looked quite curious.
For Lin Mu, the invitation was actually convenient.
They had just arrived in a completely unfamiliar world. Having someone local explain the political structure, geography, and general customs would save them considerable time and potential misunderstandings.
Lin Mu cupped his fists politely.
"Then we will accept your hospitality."
Huli Zu’s smile widened slightly.
"Excellent."
With that, the group left the teleportation hall.
The moment they stepped outside, the environment opened into a wide plaza that was strikingly familiar.
Like most inter-world teleportation hubs, the hall was located at the center of a large open square designed to accommodate arrivals and departures. Stone pathways spread outward from the hall in several directions, while guards and small administrative buildings lined the outer perimeter.
The plaza was quiet.
A few people moved about in the distance, but the area was far less crowded than many teleportation centers Lin Mu had seen before.
Just beyond the plaza, a large residence stood prominently.
The structure was elegant but not overly extravagant. Built primarily from pale stone and dark wood, it carried a noble air without the excessive grandeur seen in many royal estates.
Huli Zu gestured toward it.
"My residence is just ahead."
His guard squad quietly formed up behind him as they began walking.
As they crossed the plaza, Meng Bai looked around curiously before turning toward Huli Zu.
"Lord Huli," he asked politely, "are you royalty?"
Huli Zu blinked slightly, then laughed.
"You noticed the surname?"
Meng Bai nodded.
"You share the same name as the kingdom."
Huli Zu rubbed the back of his head with mild amusement.
"Well... technically yes," he admitted. "I can be considered royalty."
Then he waved his hand dismissively.
"But not the important kind."
He chuckled lightly.
"The Huli Clan is very large. There are tens of thousands of us across the kingdom. Having the surname only means I am part of the clan, not that I hold a high position within it."
Meng Bai nodded thoughtfully.
Lin Mu listened quietly but did not fully accept the explanation.
In his experience, positions such as the lord of a teleportation hall were rarely given casually.
Teleportation arrays were among the most strategically important assets in any cultivation world. They controlled travel, commerce, diplomacy, and military logistics.
Normally, such facilities were managed by expert formation masters appointed by major sects or government administrations. The individual overseeing the hall would typically be both a powerful cultivator and a skilled Formation master and maybe even a specialist in spatial arrays.
Yet Lin Mu had already observed something interesting.
Huli Zu was not a formation master.
His aura lacked the distinctive patterns of someone deeply involved in arrays.
Which meant his position was almost certainly obtained through family authority rather than technical ability.
In other words, bloodline.
But Lin Mu did not comment.
Instead, his gaze drifted briefly toward Huli Miyeon walking beside her brother.
Something about her presence was different. Her cultivation was lower than Huli Zu’s, yet her aura felt strangely... layered. It was subtle, almost hidden, but Lin Mu sensed something deeper beneath the surface.
Her eyes also seemed unusually perceptive.
Every now and then, she glanced toward Lin Mu as if studying him. Lin Mu could not quite place what made her unusual, but the feeling remained.
Soon they reached the large residence.
The gates opened smoothly as the guards approached, allowing the group to enter without delay.
Inside, the architecture remained consistent with the exterior.
The estate was spacious but not ostentatious. Stone walkways wound through neatly maintained courtyards, while modest buildings surrounded a central hall.
It lacked the overwhelming luxury of many noble estates Lin Mu had visited before. Instead, it felt orderly and dignified.
They were quickly guided into the main hall.
Compared to the grand reception chambers of many kingdoms, this one was relatively simple. There were no elaborate golden statues, no massive chandeliers, no extravagant displays of wealth.
Instead, the primary decorations consisted of banners.
Two types of banners hung along the walls.
The first displayed a stylized fox head. On the fox’s forehead were the characters for "Huli," marking the symbol of the ruling clan.
The second banner carried a different design entirely.
A delicate pink flower, resembling a cherry blossom, set against a background of drifting white clouds.
The contrast between the two banners created an interesting atmosphere.
One represented authority.
The other felt more refined and artistic.
Lin Mu quietly took note of both wondering what the second banner meant.
