Chapter 3877: Not Like Other Elders

Chapter 3877: Not Like Other Elders

Lin Mu watched as the second attack arrived.

But the man did not utter another word, and a moment later another palm strike rushed toward Little Bull.

Lin Mu clicked his tongue internally. ’He’s not listening!’

Little Bull hurriedly retreated. Unfortunately, the layout of the treasury worked against him. The storage sections created narrow passages throughout the cavern. Lin Mu had unknowingly backed himself into one of those narrow spaces.

His movement became restricted and there was no longer enough room to evade properly.

’I have to block.’ Little Bull crossed both arms before himself.

The palm strike arrived.

BANG!

A deafening impact echoed throughout the chamber as dust burst outward from the collision. The force pushed Little Bull several steps backward and his feet dug deep grooves into the stone floor before he finally stopped.

The dust slowly settled as the mysterious man looked ahead. Little Bull still stood where he had been forced back. His sleeves had been torn apart by the force of the strike and small fragments of cloth drifted onto the ground.

But his forearms remained completely unharmed.

The man slowly raised an eyebrow. "You endured my attack like that?"

’Good.’ Lin Mu inwardly relaxed. ’Now he’ll stop and think.’

After all, anyone would question the situation now. Little Bull had supposedly joined only recently. He had blocked an attack from an Immortal Realm cultivator through brute strength alone.

Surely that would make the man reconsider.

Instead... The man’s eyes widened.

Then his killing intent became even stronger.

"CERTAINLY AN INTRUDER!" His roar shook the cavern.

Lin Mu almost stumbled. ’What kind of conclusion is that!?’

Xukong laughed loudly. ’This one appears to have reached his conclusion already.’

Lin Mu resisted the urge to sigh while the man charged again. This time his attacks became even more relentless as palm after palm flew toward Little Bull and each strike carried enough force to flatten ordinary mountains.

Lin Mu had no choice except to dodge. Little Bull leaped sideways and another palm strike narrowly missed him.

BOOM!

The protective arrays flashed once more while Lin Mu ducked beneath the next strike. He retreated several steps but the man pursued relentlessly.

"Stop!" Little Bull shouted. "I can explain!"

The answer came in the form of another palm which made Lin Mu twist his body. The strike brushed past his shoulder, tearing his robe apart in the process. Several pieces of cloth fluttered onto the floor.

In all this, the man remained completely expressionless. Every strike was aimed with absolute precision and every movement flowed smoothly into the next. Lin Mu quickly realized something.

’He’s experienced.’

This was no ordinary sparring disciple. The man’s techniques lacked hesitation and there was no wasted movement. Every palm sought to corner Little Bull further. Lin Mu continued retreating.

The fight spread across several sections of the treasury. Fortunately, every storage area remained protected by individual barriers. Otherwise countless treasures would have been destroyed already.

Another palm came and Little Bull blocked.

BANG!

His sleeves tore further.

Another strike arrived but Little Bull sidestepped. This time the strike grazed his waist and the robe ripped open along one side.

At the third strike Lin Mu raised one forearm. The impact forced him backward several meters while the treasury echoed continuously with the sounds of impacts. Little Bull’s robes gradually became more and more tattered.

But despite the attacks, his breathing remained steady and his body remained unharmed. Witnessing this, the mysterious man finally frowned and his attacks slowed for a brief instant.

Lin Mu noticed. ’He’s observing me.’

The man’s eyes swept across Little Bull’s body as there was not a single bruise or even a single broken bone. There was only damaged clothing. This caused the man’s suspicion to reach an entirely new level.

"You truly possess an extraordinary physique." The man muttered before smiling. But it was not a pleasant smile.

"It seems I underestimated you."

Lin Mu immediately became alert as the vitality within the man’s body changed and the pressure surrounding him increased.

Lin Mu’s expression became serious. ’He’s raising his strength.’

Until now, the man had only displayed the power of a First Tribulation Immortal. Lin Mu had deliberately matched that level through careful movements and defensive techniques. The balance immediately disappeared.

The vitality inside the man’s body surged as his muscles expanded slightly and the surrounding air trembled.

Lin Mu instantly recognized the change. ’Fourth Tribulation stage.’

His heart skipped slightly as the jump surprised him. He had expected the man to increase his strength gradually, second Tribulation and then perhaps Third. Instead, the man skipped directly to the Fourth Tribulation Stage.

The increase was enormous.

Lin Mu quickly calculated his options. ’I can still endure it.’

That was never the issue as his body would remain perfectly fine. Peak Head Mountain Roar himself had already confirmed that Little Bull’s physique possessed strength comparable to a low level Immortal.

The problem lay elsewhere.

’How am I supposed to pretend now?’ Lin Mu’s mind raced.

If he defended successfully... The disguise would become difficult to maintain. If he appeared completely unharmed after blocking Fourth Tribulation attacks, Little Bull’s mysterious physique would suddenly become far too mysterious.

The Elders might accept it but this man clearly would not.

’Can I use Absolute Body Control?’ Lin Mu immediately dismissed the idea as there was no time.

Creating convincing internal injuries while actively fighting required concentration. But the man attacked too aggressively and Lin Mu could barely focus on dodging while maintaining pretenses.

There was simply no opportunity.

’Then retreat.’ Little Bull immediately stepped backward.

But then the mysterious man vanished.

Lin Mu’s eyes widened. ’Too fast.’

The man appeared directly before him and his right palm thrust forward as the man’s surrounding vitality condensed into a terrifying force. The strike seemed almost simple. There were no dazzling techniques, or enormous manifestations. There was only a single palm.

But Lin Mu instantly understood that this attack was far stronger than everything before it. Little Bull hurriedly crossed both arms and he barely managed to raise his defense before the palm struck.

BOOM!

The impact exploded like thunder and Lin Mu felt the tremendous force travel through his arms and into his body. His feet left the ground and in the next second Little Bull became a cannonball.

He shot backward through the corridor while his body smashed into one protective barrier after another. Golden light erupted everywhere as the arrays trembled under the tremendous collision.

Finally, after crashing through several empty stone shelves that immediately reconstructed themselves under the treasury’s formations, Little Bull slammed heavily into the far wall. A loud crash echoed throughout the enormous cavern.

Fragments of broken stone scattered across the ground before the protective formations immediately began repairing the damage.

Little Bull slowly slid down the wall. His robes had become almost completely tattered and large sections of cloth hung loosely from his body.

Lin Mu remained perfectly conscious.

Internally, however, he wore a rather helpless expression.

’...Now what?’
