Chapter 3885: A Pawn In A Larger Scheme Against The Wild Peak

Chapter 3885: A Pawn In A Larger Scheme Against The Wild Peak

Lin Mu quietly agreed with the woman’s words.

He had spent only a short time with Peak Head Mountain Roar, but that had proven enough.

The old giant appeared easygoing and patient, perhaps even a bit carefree. Even his kindness towards disciples remained obvious. Lin Mu also remembered the overwhelming pressure he had unconsciously released while diagnosing Little Bull’s physique.

That pressure belonged to someone who had reached terrifying heights.

If Peak Head Mountain Roar truly became enraged... Lin Mu doubted Taegong would enjoy the outcome.

Even more than that, High Elder Shatter Peak alone already possessed sufficient reason. And Taegong had not only insulted him openly, but he had also imprisoned him by using the vault formations against him.

Lin Mu could almost picture Peak Head Mountain Roar’s expression after learning everything. It would certainly be unpleasant. Taegong, however, appeared completely unconcerned.

"I know." His confidence never wavered. "You and the others will ensure that nothing happens."

The woman’s silhouette became still.

"You’ll keep the Peak Head occupied."

Silence followed and Lin Mu quietly memorized every sentence. ’You... and the others.’

That confirmed it. The woman represented only part of whatever faction Taegong belonged to.

She finally answered. "...Suppose we succeed."

Taegong nodded.

"The Peak Head remains occupied." She continued. "Who guarantees the remaining Wild Peak Elders stay idle?"

Her voice remained practical. "High Elder Palm Saber, High Elder Shatter Peak, and the remaining Elders, they could simply break Little Bull out."

Lin Mu found the concern reasonable.

High Elder Shatter Peak alone would probably smash his way through half the mountain if necessary.

Taegong’s smile slowly widened. "I never intended to keep him here."

The woman looked toward him. "What do you mean?"

Taegong calmly answered. "I’ll transfer him."

"Where?"

"The Mad Demon Depths."

A cold silence filled the office as those words were spoken and even Lin Mu momentarily forgot to breathe.

’The Mad Demon Depths?’ The woman reacted almost immediately. "What?"

Her composed voice carried unmistakable surprise while Lin Mu’s own expression grew serious. He certainly knew about that place. The Mad Demon Depths had once ranked among the greatest forbidden zones upon the Inner Court Continent.

Long before the current era, cultivators considered it a place where even powerful Immortals rarely returned alive. Its reputation gradually changed over countless years as the danger lessened.

The sect eventually conquered enough of the area to establish control over it. And rather than eliminating its dangers completely, they repurposed it.

The forbidden zone became a prison... One unlike any ordinary prison.

"The Mad Demon Depths... houses only the worst offenders." The woman slowly spoke. "The truly irredeemable, the mass murderers, the traitors and the criminals carrying the heaviest crimes." She stated, one by one.

"How exactly do you intend to send him there?"

"Simple." Taegong’s confidence never faded. "I already prepared everything."

He reached toward another formation plate resting beside his desk. Unlike the communication formation, this plate connected directly to the treasury’s management arrays. Taegong lightly pressed it and the enormous formation display covering the wall immediately changed.

The inventory lists vanished as new records appeared. Lin Mu carefully observed every alteration and saw that one particular entry began flashing.

SHUA

Its status changed from stored to missing.

Then a sharp chime was heard.

Ding

The line changed to stolen!

The woman also noticed.

"Oh?" Her silhouette leaned slightly forward. "You intend to accuse him of theft?"

Taegong shook his head. "Not merely theft."

He calmly selected the highlighted entry. The formation enlarged the record as an image slowly appeared above it. Lin Mu finally saw the object clearly. It resembled a gauntlet, though calling it a gauntlet almost felt inaccurate.

It lacked articulated fingers as there were no proper joints. The entire object looked strangely crude. Several thick metal tubes formed the base and attached to the front rested two enormous iron spheres.

The construction appeared almost laughably simplistic. As though someone had taken ordinary metal pipes, welded heavy iron balls onto them and declared the work complete. There were no decorations, elaborate carvings or even the most basic of artistic flavor.

Everything about it emphasized brutal practicality.

Lin Mu, however, immediately recognized something, the object radiated an indescribable feeling. Even through the formation projection and even from a simple inventory image, its existence alone seemed heavy.

It felt oppressive as if it carried a strange authority that ordinary immortal treasures simply could not imitate. The woman’s reaction proved his instinct correct. And the moment she recognized the object... She abruptly rose from her seat.

Her previously calm demeanor finally cracked.

"That... isn’t that a forbidden relic?" Her voice contained genuine disbelief.

Taegong slowly smiled. "Indeed."

He appeared thoroughly pleased with her reaction. Lin Mu continued studying the projected image and his attention shifted toward the information displayed beneath it.

Several lines described its classification: Restricted Storage, Highest Supervision, Movement Authorization Required.

Then his eyes settled upon the item’s name.

Lin Mu quietly repeated it within his mind. ’Justice Crushing Cestus.’

The name lingered and while the appearance looked crude, the designation surrounding it carried enormous significance.

Whatever this crude looking weapon truly was, Lin Mu possessed little doubt that someone had gone to extraordinary lengths to ensure nobody ever casually laid hands upon it.

Hidden within the ceiling, Lin Mu kept his breathing slow and steady while his eyes remained fixed upon the enlarged projection floating above Taegong’s desk.

The crude looking gauntlet slowly rotated within the formation display, allowing every angle of its construction to be observed.

The more Lin Mu studied it, the stranger it appeared. There was nothing refined about its appearance. No immortal jade inlays. No engraved runes. No elegant curves that one expected from the creations of Grandmaster Weaponsmiths.

It looked almost primitive.

And yet... The projection alone carried a pressure that ordinary immortal treasures simply lacked.

Lin Mu had seen countless legendary artifacts during his life like ancient immortal weapons, divine relics, heavenly treasures and even objects touched by celestials. The feeling before him belonged in that same category.
